Opiates - Opioid overdose Stigma reduction conversation

Training local fire departments in responding to opioid overdoses. Tough stuff they deal with. Volunteering to help at 3 am over and over is tiresome. Fact is it’s difficult. Understanding what they are dealing with is how the stigma gets reduced . Fruitful. I talked to this gentleman after the training. It’s so frustrating to see over and over he says. Education is key in this work. Learning what the first responders need is paramount . Sometimes it’s just an ear to hear the struggle. We are all in this together . Supporting first responders in what they do will help reduce stigma and provoke a cohesiveness that promotes an understanding . Thanks to all the firefighters that attended .
