- Happy Birthday Flushing Line
The largest single segment to open at once was the extension from Queensboro Plaza to Corona Plaza. The picture window R-33/36 fleet ran almost exclusively and continuosly on the line for 40 years, much longer than the assortment of different equipment that came before. Through the tumult and change of the NYC Transit System, the solid World's Fair fleet was a bastion of uniform reliability. The Corona yard based fleet was the one that was marred by graffiti later and had it banished earlier than all other yard's fleets. This fleet was also the first to be entirely overhauled during the great 1980s renaissance led by Ravitch and Gunn. I hope everyone enjoys this never before published material and the great music of the Budos Band, a New York City group of very talented musicians.
I have been riding the #7 for 64 yrs.... great line...came back to it's original glory..well almost
Wonderful 100 Years of the Flushing Line
Emerging from underground on the 7 is one of my favorite things about working in into Long Island CIty. Over the past 10 years I've seen so many changes. I can't imagine it back in the 70's or 80's, let alone 100 years ago. Thanks for sharing. It's a great tribute.
Trainluvr, you're the man! Sweet Red Bird action. The winter scenes are especially memorable. As always, thank you for another jewel of a classic video ;-)
old7 line smelled wonderfully
iam proud of the 7 and whould like to say happy birthday to my 7 train!
The Flushing Line has come a long way from its shared years with the BMT (until 1949) to today's 7 Line! Great job!
Happy anniversary 7 train, many more
The videos were made a long time ago. The Last R33 cars ran on the 7 train line on November 3, 2003.
Wow I had that daily news magazine it came out on the Sunday paper I believe 88 or 90 anyway good video keep them coming.
Great footage and soundtrack! Wow, officially 100 years since the Flushing line first opened, quite interesting. The best eras for the (7) was when they used the Redbirds in my opinion (as well as the R62s since there's mainly R188s now.)
Budos Band!! Unexpected wonderfulness.
The only D grade I got in college was in Music. Fuk 'em, I play and listen to what I want.
@@trainluvr Haaa!
Excellent Job! Music all done in great taste! I remember that picture newspaper if The 7 Train I also saved it! 🙂👍
I really enjoy these videos. Last time I took the Flushing line to work was 1980 & the memories you provide with these videos are fantastic. Thanks. Are you a Flushing native??
Yes I am.
So is my husband. A Flushing High School graduate 1969.
the soundtrack on this is quite good...
Man i only rode the redbird in 2003 and late 2002. Damn, the older railfans are so DAMN lucky
Nyc Subway Kiddd Once upon a long time ago those Redbirds used to be baby blue
@@josephbell2160 yes that was the world fair color scheme
@@galore497eliteganggang7 Yep, used to ride them quite a bit back in the day. They should have painted all of the NYC subway cars that way. 😆
I was eight when the final redbird left service, but I tried to avoid riding them when they were around because of the blackouts and the noise they made
My childhood
happy birthday 7 train and the flushing line
I forgot the company that manufactured those unusual signals which aren't there anymore because of CBTC
4:59 I remember i saw those buildings in a 77 WABC aircheck about the 1965 northeast blackout and dan ingram was talking about someone taking the train home in astoria and they’re still up in 2003? I wonder when they got torn down
Soy latino y siempre e querido ir a nueva York y conocer la siudad así como veo los bideos

Nu Yoik's tha best!
5:19 That’s my school
That r62 sounds so great when it's slowing down. @6:10
the 7 train has come a long way from the early 20th centrey to Today its the only IRT line in Queens but i have one question why they call the 7 line international express ?
I'm guessing its because of the diversity around the line. I mean for example last stop is queens chinatown.
Because it hosted the Worlds Fair back in 64 - 65
@nycbk23 bruh there are some mexicans in jackson heights
How did the 7 line get R62as in the first place?
6 and 7 swap
6 and 7 swap again in 2013-early 2018
