that is copy and paste: right-click on a curve then copy , then right-click on smaller graph then paste

At 1:05, selected the main figure and copied (ctrl+c)
At 1:07, selected the small area and pasted (ctrl+v)
That's it....

this is old matlab interface i guess, in newer versions you go to figure properties, and then search x lim, the inside the new axes ,right click and select add data.
