As a benfica fan, Im enjoying this sporting. You have to give credit to ruben amorim and they are way more humble than us. Their president, coach and players do they work and leave us alone. They dont complain about noone including referrees, even when they were 4th place. They deserve everything they won so far and honestly (outside of portugal of course) I hope they win more.

The worst, most blatant robberies I've ever seen have been against us.
Handball goal at home against P. Ferreira 06/07 season. We lost the title by a point that year. The aforementioned Carlsberg Cup final against SLB with Pedro Silva's chested ball outside the box resulting in a penalty. The ball that hit Jonathan Silva in the face somehow resulting in a penalty away to Schalke in the 14/15 Champions League. Unforgettable robberies for anyone who supports us. I keep hearing about how the 90s were just awful for Sporting in regards to being robbed but I'm too young to have ever seen it myself

Option 3 : Gyo sold in January, Sporting lose the title, Amorim leaves and Sporting GOES back to original settings.
Option 4: the most unlikely, The win everything, sell the best and the manager and somehow the new manager and players click from the get go and win it again. If that happens then you have a Change in Portuguese football ( Porto and Benfica won Multiple titles with different players and managers)

If a club fails to win constantly for 2 decades because the president of a club in the north has full control over referees (this has been proved, there were recordings of it which have been ignored) - it means if Sporting is blocked from winning national trophies, theres less money, less sales. Yes there was a lot of incompetence in Sporting. But trying to act like corruption has no impact is a joke. In a serious country Pinto da Costa would have been sent to jail 30 years ago.

As a Porto fan I think Sporting will win the league this season but, I think they will lose a lot of key players at the end of the season (gyokeres, pote, inacio) and I think porto will win 25/26 bcuz of all of our new signings

Sporting nowadays is really well managed. I think the only nuclear player to leave next summer will be Gyokeres for a value close to 80M+20M or 90M+10M and the rest of the nuclear players will stay and sporting will buy Loannidis or someone along those lines in the next summer as a replacement together with the 20M investment on Conrad Harder already done this summer they’ll be fine. If by chance other nuclear players leave big money signings will be made as replacement for them on the lines of Hjulmand, Gyokeres signings of last season or Debast, Maxi Araújo and Conrad Harder this season but Sporting now is really good at keeping their nuclear players and have a great scouting, manager and overall club management is incredible if sporting wins the championship again this year and gets champions league football next year the need to sell will be low and they be able to keep pulling great players to the squad. I predict they will easily get through a player like Gyokeres leaving if they are champions again. Success usually brings more success unless you make manegement mistakes but Sporting structure at the moment is incredible.

As a club Sporting is not a superteam but "that team" in Portugal. As club in Portugal they are leading with the total of trophies by a large margin. However in football yeah unfortunetly they had some rough years and almost 2 decades but now they are on a path that still needs care but it's getting better and better. But as a club there's no other team in portugal that can touch Sporting and I believe they are one of the top 5 or 10 or even 3 (it's very hard to find the stats on this but i remember reading something years ago about this and sporting was on one of those ranks) in the world with the most total trophies counting all sports.

O Covid arruinou a primeira metade do campeonato ao Benfica, nunca saberemos que equipa o Jorge Jesus apresentaria se não estivesse a perder jogadores a um nível superior ao dos rivais. E mais para o final o Sporting tremeu, tal como em 15/16. O Covid trouxe uma distância saudável entre a equipa e os adeptos e permitiu que a pressão fosse um pouco menor.
Para além disso, isto é a minha opinião, não necessariamente um facto.

Sporting will keep wining the championship as long as they have Gyokeres on their team. But after Gyokeres leaves, Sporting will return to its usual form. They might win a few more championships over the next decade, but nowhere near the current level of domination. Simply because Sporting right now is 50% Gyokeres, and 50% the rest of the team

For one reason or another? How about telling the truth about the Ball Mafia that ruled Portuguese football for decades, with priests, masses and fruit. Sporting has only returned to dominating football, as it did until the 1950s, since the arrival of Var, which is the club with the most titles. Without var, nor Varandas, Amorim or even the Gyokeres Machine, they would win the titles they have.

In your lifetime Porto never been 2 decades without winning, but they were before. Maybe your father remembers that. From 1959 to 1978. And before that, from 1940 to 1956. In this first one period, Porto couldn't even won a Portuguese cup. Pinto da Costa transformed an average team into a superpower during the 80's

Actually the story of Sporting from the early 80's to 2021 is very similar with Porto history from 1940 to 1978. Long years without winning the Championship, then they won two championships in a short period (Sporting in 2000 and 2002, Porto in 1956 and 1959) then they went on the desert again.
Não ligo a futebol mas acho que hoje está bem melhor. O Porto sem o Pinto e o Conceição, o Benfica sem o orelhas e o Sporting sem aquele tipo horrendo. Só pode ficar melhor.

As a Sporting fan, I'll just mention a small detail: Covid was not a blessing. That's an easy argument used by other clubs to accept the season results. It may have helped some inexperienced Sporting players when playing the most competitive matches - I can accept that. In fact, it may have helped all the other teams' inexperienced players that year too.
Only those who want to fool themselves will say that it had direct impact on the season results and it was one of the reasons for Sporting winning the league.
All in all, great content - it reminds us why we love this sport!

You seriously downplayed how bad Varandas managment was before Ruben Amorim, probably the worst President on par with José Eduardo Bettencourt e Godinho Lopes, bad market strategy, bad sales of key players, bad reinforcements, bad managers, got us the worst year in history, most loses in a season, beating the 2013 season (you didn't mention this). I fear that Amorim leaves and Varandas still gets another 4 years, because sporting success is 100% the manager. Maybe Varandas also improved and its a big part of current success (I don't believe this) but for sporting future I hope so. I'm happy with sporting present and hopeful we can keep this strength for years to come. But given the chance I would always vote for the last president, Bruno De Carvalho.

O video esta muito bom mas nao acho que seja correto teres refletido certo clubismo em algumas partes da historia e muito menos teres criticado dessa forma dos adeptos do sporting em como são os piores, e atribuir o mérito do titulo a covid pela ausencia de adeptos no estadio, quando sabes perfeitamente que isso não é verdade. De resto, mais uma vez, o video esta muito bem trabalhado e narrado, parabens. SL
Eu não acho que os adeptos do Sporting são os piores. Apenas acho que são mais críticos da própria equipa do que os do Porto ou Benfica. Mas o comportamento de uma vasta secção de adeptos benfiquistas na época passada está a fazer-me pensar duas vezes em relação a isso.
No que diz respeito ao Covid, foi mesmo essa a minha interpretação. O Sporting chegou muitas vezes perto do titulo durante aquele período de 20 anos de seca e sempre que tremia, os adeptos colocavam uma enorme pressão invés de carregarem a equipa. Quem sabe o Sporting não perderia a sua vantagem como perdeu em 2016, com adeptos no estádio. Para além disso, estás-te a esquecer que o Porto tem dos grupos de adeptos mais fervorosos. Em 2023, a equipa foi galvanizada e quase recuperou a enorme desvantagem pontual face ao Benfica.
Obviamente que a conquista do Sporting teve mérito e foi totalmente justa, apenas acho que o Covid teve uma pequena influência.
Sou sportinguista e tenho 100% de certeza que o título de 2021 não teria acontecido com adeptos no estádio, o clube vivia um clima de guerra civil ha anos, aquele ano permitiu ao clube encontrar a paz que necessitava. Foi importantíssimo para o clube aquele ano, sarou muitos problemas, os adeptos fizeram as pazes com o clube, com a direção e com os jogadores. Poderiam ter ganho, talvez, mas dificilmente teriam conseguido a estabilidade que tem hoje sem aquele ano onde o clube teve tempo para respirar, quando os adeptos voltaram ao estadio já eram campeões, logo isso deu margem de manobra e tempo para se construir a equipa que temos hoje.
Hoje poucos defendem que estávamos melhor que Bruno de Carvalho, que tendo o mérito de ter feito muito pelo clube, saiu pela porta pequena e deixou o clube numa crise sem pretendentes.
O Bruno tentou gerir o Sporting como te disse o Pinto da Costa do Sporting, conflitos e conflitos, fez Sporting mais forte por uns tempos mas deu no que deu, a gestao de varandas criou uma estabilidade que o clube nunca teve nos últimos 40 anos.
Vamos ver se o sporting passa a fase de grupos da champions. Ainda por cima no pote 3, que tenha sorte com o sorteio

If you guys researched further would find that after all Bruno de Carvalho, so you did well and barely ended up being the first stone of the big change you mention in your video. That’s a very controversial subject because it involves finding out that Bruno de Carvalho was a vititime of an internal and outside maneuver to withdraw him from the club’s command and get out of the football world. Why? The reason for this has to do with perpetuated corruption by people connected to Benfica that prevented Sporting from being a champion. Did they know there were teams that were paid to lose against Benfica? For that was what Bruno denounced with evidence and then the solution was to be banned. That yes should investigate deeply.

Há um Sporting antes de Amorim e um depois do Amorim. O Amorim não é o Schmidt que só foi bom durante uma época ou nem isso, Amorim é praticamente garantia de sucesso, o Sporting é outro clube hoje em dia, não faz sentido falar nos últimos 20 anos.

é engraçado que um clube estar um desastre e numa completa miséria é estar a lutar pelo terceiro lugar com o braga. Existe tão pouco respeito pelos outros clubes e adeptos de outros clubes em portugal
Não é uma questão de respeito, é uma questão de realidade. O Santa Clara se acabar 10 pontos acima da linha de agua fez uma excelente época, se for um Vitoria já não é uma época boa. Achar que todos os clubes partem da mesma posição e tem a possibilidade de ter os mesmos objetivos, não só está errado, como é uma maneira um tanto ou quanto inocente de olhar para qualquer area profissional que seja competitiva, como é o caso do futebol.
Nos anos em que Sporting e Braga lutavam pelo 3º lugar, o Sporting tinha pelo menos o dobro do orçamento do Braga. O Braga ter sido tão consistente nos últimos anos e ser referido muitas vezes como 4º grande é um testamento a competencia do Antonio Salvador, quando era miúdo ninguém imaginava alguma vez se falar num 4º grande.
I mean nessa altura era basicamente os 4 e o Boavista antes de ir a banca rota, agora sim acho a liga bem mais competitiva (var veio ajudar), as equipas "pequenas" simplesmente eram violadas pela a arbitragem

Giant? 😂 a little far fetched I would say. There’s only two big teams in this country: Porto and Benfica. sporting has the fans but is miles away in terms of results.

I disagree. They both are giants. Benfica has 6 UCL finals and 2 relatively recent Europa league finals. Both incomparable to Sporting that’s for sure.

Somos "pequenos" mas têm a necessidade de vir fazer este tipo de comentários e espalhar presunção. A isso chama-se complexo de inferioridade e adeptos como tu nunca estarão ao nível da grandeza dos vossos clubes
Caro Ricardo até há 3 anos atrás os resultados desportivos do Sporting estavam ao nível do sporting de Braga, nalguns anos até abaixo. Eu entendo que como fã se perca essa noção da realidade mas há que ser pragmático. Não vamos comparar alhos com bugalhos, e isso não é querer diminuir o sporting ou qualquer outro clube. acho fantástico até que haja mais competitividade no nosso campeonato e óptimo que haja tanta paixão por um clube que em termos de resultados desportivos ganha de 20 em 20 anos. Se assim não fosse só teríamos adeptos de dois clubes em Portugal

Sporting Lisbon died when the five violins disappeared. They've won four championships in the last 40 years and have no European footballing history. The club does have several sports and manages to be strong in most of them, but when it comes to football, they're a long way behind. If you make a similar video for benfica or porto, you'll be amazed at how far ahead they are of the lizards.
