Hey, Preston here! Thank you for the kind words, I really really truly honestly had a great time and if you’re going next year… maybe, just maybe I will return to Anthro New England again! And we will have a conversation about synthesizers. Thank you all for watching! (I’m going to Pax EAST this month so be on the look out for that video!)
I remember a couple in their 70s wandered into Anthrocon to get to the desk and get a room, and it was the most wholesome thing ever because we all had our suits on but also wanted to be helpful. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was just awesome.
A circuit board repair panel at a furry con makes so much sense, considering that whenever someone does the "What's your job" video, like 9/10 people there are in IT.. That's honestly funny as shit...

One of my favorite MFF2023 videos was from a non-furry who just exited an event that _he_ was attending, and suddenly "wtf furries". So he wandered around respectfully interviewing a bunch of fursuiters.
@@DejitaruJin awesome, we were joking about the poor souls who just wanted to play some ports but its nice to see that someone was actually happy to check out the fur con
Heh, regarding the synth bit, given how many musicians are at furry raves, it really is not impossible a Synth meetup could actually be about Electronic Music, just less likely.
12:34 It almost always catches me off guard at first how much fullsuits can cost, but the logistics part of my brain takes into account materials, tools and time and goes; "Yeah... That makes sense."
Something something money, something Russianbadger quote, something something my address. But yeah, the effort and money that goes into fursuits is pretty cool. I went to Anthrocon 2023 because, in spite of a long history of enjoying works like Lackadaisy and Beastars, I've never entirely been sure if I'm actually "A Furry" and wanted to throw myself into the fray to see if it was for me -- still not 100% sure, but it was a rad convention and the vibes were awesome
As long as it's them not trying to farm for cringe content, yah it's pretty entertaining to see normies go to a furry con. It's a neat outside perspective that we as furries can't really experience ourselves
I live by "if it doesn't hurt me and it doesn't hurt you, it ain't a problem" I'm not a furry myself, I have one friend who is, also one of the nicer groups I've gotten to see
I also think it's fun how an outsiders perspective gave you more ideas on what to check out next con!! As a person who largely goes to cons solo I use panels a TON to meet people and end up missing some of the spontaneous stuff on the floor, it's so interesting how people can basically experience the same con completely differently
I had no idea fursuits were so personalized, that you’d be able to recognize knock offs of individual people. I also don’t know how I ended up watching a reaction to a non-furry going to a furry convention at 9 am before logging into work. But here we are, just learning new things.
Well, most suits are existing only once. So it acually is an individual thing. I personaly recognize furries, that I dont know to good primarily by their suits.
Aw, this was adorable! I went to my first furry convention, as a person who was casually furry for a while but only properly engaging with the fandom recently, back in 2022 and it blew me away. The best way I can describe it is returning to the energy of going to a 4000 person anime convention when I was 15 in 2010. Everyone's making new friends, socializing, doing silly things to have a fun time, and just fully leaning into the experience. They've immediately become my top priority conventions and I'm so excited to go to my next one.
This is something I tell the haters "Not all furries are what most people think. They just wanna have fun and be themselves." As I always agree to every time. Props to Preston for the video. Props to you too for the kind words. Wholesome is what I see in a whole lot of cases.
As someone recently coming out of a huge Clone Hero/YARG hyperfocus it makes me happy that people still recognize it! Being an older zoomer I talk to people even 4 years younger than me and a lot of them just have no idea. Also, WOW, I really need to make plans to attend a convention!! I'm finally a real adult, even though it sometimes doesn't feel like it, and I keep forgetting that I can just _do_ things.
