During this film clip, they went past my school which was a Private Boys School, and the school let us go outside to watch the passing ACDC conga line/filming of the film clip, and Bon Scott was belting and blowing those bagpipes, with force. Remember thinking "shit those bagpipes are loud". Happiest memory of my childhood. ✊🥃

6:13 *The bagpipes are what makes this song even more unique then it is!* 😉

The video was shot in downtown Melbourne Australia on Swanston Street I believe. The band had just started out and was trying to drum up business!!!!! That’s why the video quality is so poor compared to 2022 standards. I believe it was shot in February 1976 (they formed as a band a few years earlier). It was this tune that started them on the path to the top of Rock and Roll (how ironic) which they are at 48 years later and counting!!!!! Long live the memories of Bon Scott and Malcom Young!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!!!!!🎸🎸🎸🎸😎🍸

So other comments have said that this was filmed February 1976 on Swanson Street Melbourne Australia. This is correct.
No one has mentioned that up the back of the flatbed truck are members of the Rats of Tobruk Pipe Band who, like AC/DC are still in existence to this day.

This video was filmed on February 23rd, 1976 for the Australian music television program "Countdown". It featured the band and the members of the Rats of Tobruk Pipe band on the back of a flatbed truck travelling on Swanston Street in Melbourne, Australia. David Olney was the cameraman and he had a budget of $380.

I had just started my last year of school in 1976 and this clip was filmed for the Aussie TV show Countdown. The pipers were the Rats of Tobruk Pipe band. ACDC with the awesome Bon Scott were on the back of a flatbed truck travelling on Swanston Street in Melbourne. How good were they!

Bon Scott studied bagpipes whilst at school.
The video was filmed in February 1976.
Born 1946, lived hard and fast, Bon Scott died February 1980 - 33 years old.

As you know Bon was Scottish and emigrated to Australia and I am certain that I heard that his father was a member of the Fremantle pipes band. Met Bon in the early 70's before he was with ACDC. Didn't know music was his thing.

Bon never studied the pipes he played a side drum in a pipe band with his father.in fact according to bon himself he only ever played recorder. before this song.

This is my absolute performance of this song and I have been waiting for a reaction to it. Bon was my favorite singer over brian. When he died so much enthusiasm died for me. Thanks for the post. Saw them in FL once. Best energy ever. Bon over Brian any day.

Let's hear it for Sponge Bob🤣. ACDC is one of the two greatest band's Australia has produced. Check out the other one Cold Chisel. Try Cold Chisel (Bow River) live 2003. I love it when people discover what we have to offer down here in Australia.

Yes you are correct SWTSU. If I remember correctly I think Countdown actually payed for the filming and production plus I think they payed for the original
    Jail Break video as well?
I can't remember but they were involved in either of these video's so kudos to Countdown otherwise no early AC/DC video's. History is interesting, something so simple could have been lost forever!
