Oh when youre down and youre looking for some cheering up
Then just head right on up to the candy mountain cave
When you get inside you find yourself a cheery land
Such a happy and joy filled and perky merry land
Theyve got lollipops and gummidrops and candy things
Oh so many things that will brighten up your day
Its impossible to wear a frown in candy town
Its the mecca of love the candy cave
Theyve got jellybeans and coconut with little hats
Candy rats, chocolate bats, its a wonderland of sweets
Buy the candy train to town and hear the candy band
Candy bells, its a treat, as they march across the land
Cherry ribbon stream across the sky and to the ground
Turn around, it astounds, its a dancing candy tree In the candy cave imagination runs so free
So now Charlie please will you go into the cave?

Magnificent!! We would dance non-stop to this song at family reunions. I still laugh remembering how fun it was to dance the polka with everyone from my Dad’s side of the family. Thank you for the sacred memories!

My paternal grandparents came to the US from Ukraine about 1909. They live a couple of miles from my parents house in Hempstead, NY (Village of Hempstead). They had a box of Ukrainian folk tunes on discs, which were all Columbia Light Green label 78 rpm discs, from the late 1920's and early 1930's. One disc had the Clarinet Polka on it but it was played in a much slower beat by an old orchestra, recording most likely from the early 1930's. We kids played these records on an old single speed record player back in the late 1950's until around 1961 - so much fun.

I just started on the clarinet last week. Got the fingering down for one verse of "La Vie En Rose" and I'm working on not "snorting" out my nose after the first ten minutes of practice. And my tone sucks, of course. And squeaking... well that goes without saying. I haven't even started to practice tonguing or other non-diaphragm stops. Glissando is lightyears away. Bending... well I can do it on a harmonica, so I'm hoping that's a leg-up somehow. But on draws only. And drawing on the clarinet is... I'm not an expert but that seems pretty rare.
This video is like... I pin it on the wall and say "someday, maybe... maybe not."

Clarinets are hard to play at the best of times, but if something isn't working properly they're a nightmare. And yeah I also got sick of clarinet when I was about 15, it's not the coolest instrument in the band...! I can strongly recommend sax which is both cooler and WAAAY easier to play.
