I've applied several places and the requirement are 5-8 years experience. Its very challenging and the last interview was brutal. They asked me to express the clinical trial process by detail for the CRA, protocol, FDA and GDP. I am knowledgeable but I did forget a few task. I was not prepared for the questions it was an 2 hour long interview. I was grilled. I was amazed to say the least!

Dont be discouraged. Clinical research experience is a vary vague requirement. My 1-2 year experience was at a call center for LAB administration. What I did was basicly re-send LAB report place kit orders and read of LAB manuals if site staff did not have it. It was fun because you obtain so much ambient knowlwdge of how stuff is done. But main thing is that you need to learn the 10 000 abriviations and learn that if you dont have it written down you cant proov it. I'm currently at project coordinator position but in my company its caled central project assistant. So show that you can learn and that you take procedures seriously and you will get the jobs. Good luck. :)

Clinical research coordinator is not an entry level position lol...the postings I have seen require 3-6 years of direct experience, and they require you to be an RN most of the time. In fact most of the time they only accept LPN or RN applicants. So if you’re not an RN it’s not an entry level.
I would say clinical trial assistant, clinical research assistant or sometimes project support assistant, or clinical data assistant/manager are more entry level.
Unless the hiring manager is your best friend, project manager is not entry level either.

    • @EliteClinicalResearch

Clinical Research Coordinator is not by far an entry level job.

If you were to hire someone to coordinate your projects, would you hire someone without solid experience in the clinical research field? Most people who apply already have experience in study management.

Elite Clinical Research It really depends on the location. I’m from Montreal, where the CR market is over-saturated. Meaning for example that many over-qualified people will apply for an assistant study coordinator position. So when they leave out the lab tech applications they will they will end up with 20 relevant applications from people with good CR exp and good education (Candidates with MSc or with 1 or 2 BSc and prev study management experience). All that only to become an assistant research coordinator.
But I’ve also travelled and seen people with very little to no experience become CRC (an electrician in Nebraska who became a CRC or a BSc grad with no exp in N Dakota.) But I did not mention these cases as they won’t help someone in a city with lots of competition imo.

    Hello,
I am a recent graduate who is looking into the clinical trial/research field. I have no prior experience in patient care or clinical studies but I do have a lot of scientific lab-based research experience. Would any of those skills be transferrable in clinical research? Thank you for your help!

Linda Yarfi Yes of course those skills have transferable value into clinical research field. The trick is to understand which ones do and which ones don’t.They do hire people with science background and undergraduate research experience. I actually had a similar background when I made the leap into clinical research. Which roles are you interested in going for?

I am looking for positions you mentioned in the video. I am trying to educate myself essentially into this field considering that studied Molecular Biology at the undergraduate level. I am in the New York area but I see a lot of those positions out there but most of the time, they want someone with 2-3 years experience. So, I am confused as to where to get the experience.

hello, I am Msc. microbiology fresher from India. to get into the industry do i need to do the certification course in clinical research? because vacancies i came across either require certification course or experience. So i am confused how to start a career in this industry.

Experience is much more important than certifications. I would focus on gaining experience than paying for certifications.

Yes very relevant. But your degree doesn’t matter so much as having relevant experience.

Yes, I’m currently an MSc student in biomedical sciences and just got the news that I was selected for the only internship at IQVIA in the country (not in the US) I’m in. I’m sooo stoked!
