To me it seems like he sings this song like he didn't write it (even though he did), but like it was given to him to sing and share with us. Brilliant stuff.
My wife actually chose this to be our wedding song! At first I thought it was an odd choice, but after I though about the lyrics, I realized it was perfect! "It's not some stupid little ring! It's a little bit of everything." These guys are incredible live too!
The first time I heard this song I thought; 'Wow, this sounds a bit like old Jackson Browne." The second time I listened to it, it brought me to tears. What a beautiful song. "And the further he looks back into his timeline That hard road always had led him to today"
Scooter you are right on! I thought it was J.B. It brings tears to my eyes overtime I listen to it. I'm 69. How can young guys have so much insight? It's one of the most beautiful songs I have heard. It's LOVELY! Rod form NH
I lost my big brother who was born deaf to suicide almost ten years ago, and this song has let me see things through our Dad’s eyes. Thank you Taylor, for writing this. Y’all sounded incredible at the Ryman. If you ever need a Memphis guitar slinger, let me know.
I am a die hard fan of the classics. But the second I finished listening to this song for the first time I knew it was the greatest thing I'd ever heard. This version is nice but original version of this is my favorite song of all time
It's a cliche at this point, but I really wish there was more mainstream music that sounded like this. The regular version of this song is truly beautiful and there is so much real effort put into the lyrics. It's a simple song in some ways but you can just tell how much went into it

With his back against the San Francisco traffic On the bridge's side that faces towards the jail Setting out to join a demographic He hoists his first leg up over the rail A phone call's made, police cars show up quickly The sergeant slams his passenger door He says, "Hey son why don't you talk through this with me? Just tell me what you're doing it for." "Oh, it's a little bit of everything It's the mountains, it's the fog It's the news at six o'clock It's the death of my first dog." "It's the angels up above me It's the song that they don't sing It's a little bit of everything." There's an older man who stands in a buffet line, He is smiling and he's holding out his plate, And the further he looks back into his timeline That hard road always led him to today, Making up for when his bright future had left him Making up for the fact his only son is gone, And letting everything out once, his server asks him "Have you figured out yet, what it is you want?" I want a little bit of everything The biscuits and the beans Whatever helps me to forget about The things that brought me to my knees So pile on those mashed potatoes And an extra chicken wing I'm having a little bit of everything Somewhere a pretty girl is writing invitations To a wedding she has scheduled for the fall Her man says, "Baby, can I make an observation? You don't seem to be having any fun at all." She said, "You just worry about your groomsmen and your shirt-size And rest assured that this is making me feel good." I think that love is so much easier than you realize If you can give yourself to someone, then you should 'Cause it's a little bit of everything The way you joke, the way you ache, It is getting up before you, So I could watch you as you wake. So on that day in late September, It's not some stupid little ring, I'm getting a little bit of everything. Oh, it's a little bit of everything It's the matador and the bull It's the suggested daily dosage It's the red moon when it's full. All these psychics and these doctors They're alright and they're all wrong, It's like trying to make out every word When they should simply hum along It's not some message written in the dark Or some truth that no one's seen It's a little bit of everything
In my 54 years of life this is the most beautiful song I've heard
totally agree with you. touches places other tunes cannot
Same!
On that date in late September, it’s not some stupid little ring, I’ll be getting a little bit of everything. 🥰🙌🏼🥹

same haha
I feel like this could be the best song ever written...
This is the perfect version of this song, bar none. It’s so beautiful.
A beauty of a song. Lyrics, presentation and humbleness of the band
A POS agent ruined it!

which version specifically? album?
This song never fails to get me all verklempt.
I was lucky enough to see Dawes here in Nashville at the Ryman! Acoustically, they were made for that venue!!!
Dawes is the best! Been a fan for years and I hope to see them on tour sometime soon. Soulful music.
Such great songwriting
Damn that Tele sounds so sweet on the guitar solo starting at 3:19.
this might be one of the best versions of this song on UA-cam
I agree! So why has nobody reacted to it to make people not familiar with Dawes listen? Awful management?
This song just looks like my life. I love it so much.
Stunning
❤❤❤❤ Love this song so much.

All these psychics
and these doctors
They're all right
and they're all wrong
It's like trying to make out every word
When they should simply hum along
Who has not been there?

so.. whats that bass Wylie has been playing .. looks like a custom body and a Gibson Grabber neck.. what is that?
It is a Grabber neck! Good eye! Wylie actually makes the basses that he plays save for the necks.
Have Taddy Porter on!
