Tom Cavanagh was one of the highlights of this show for me. He was the best villain. I'm gonna be so bummed if he doesn't return in season two in some capacity, either as Reverse Flash or the real Harrison Wells who wasn't killed in the alternate timeline.
ScRreaMzESports I think they even said the man who plays eddie thawn is also in season 2, idk if in like flashbacks, or guest star for like an episode,or he gets resurrected as cobalt blue (fingers crossed) but I believe they did say he will be back in season 2 some way.

There's a simple explanation for why they had Eddy sacrifice himself. You see, they originally did it another way. You watched it, made a video review about it, and stated how *you* would've done it. Then, they sent Flash back in time with that information, and he told the writers. They all agreed it would be better your way, so they did it.
I know man. Still THE BEST SEASON cuz of the intrigue and storylines and so cool Easter eggs. Season 2 wasnt bad either it was just drawn out. But SAVITAR in Season3 reLly killed the Flash 4 me. It became too convulated and every season was a speedster villain. Boring

Eddie van der Meer I'm the same way. I think it's because I've really come to care for the characters over the past few years. I suspect that the longer I spend time with The Flash characters, I'll feel the same way. Season 1 was tons of fun though.
Eddie is wayyy too much like Tommy from arrow Starts out where you think he's a jerk, but slowly grows on you, then hits his low point of despair right before he finds peace and dies in the season finale.
I expect to see Eddie back... as Cobalt Blue (another adversary of the Flash from the comics). The way his body got pulled into the vortex with the debris from the time machine... AND if you noticed they made a point of adding COBALT to the time machine to get it working. The second I heard that, I was like YO!!!!!!!!
The Flash is pretty much my favorite superhero show; heck it's one of my favorite TV shows in general. I would watch every episode with a couple of friends and we'd all geek out at the cool shit that happened and all the things from the comic that appeared (from the names of characters to hints and references to things like the Justice League).
Andrew S Mediocre? your choice of adjectives is rather bold and mostly incorrect. Arguing plausibilty in superhero shows is the weakest argument I've seen in awhile. Also, the cheese shows homage to the comic books and gives the desired audience what they want. Maybe you don't appreciate super heroes enough to realize how good this show is. Watch Smallville and then you'll realize mediocre.
Andrew S flash starts out that way, when u get past those episodes it gets much better, super hero TV show wise have to give it to flash, smallville, louis and clark, arrow good shows just not caliber as Flash, having cheesy aspect makes it work, feels like comic.

The thing i like most about this show is the character Harisson Wells/The Reverse-Flash. The character building was enormous.And boy, was the ending good.
I know I'm a little late to this party, but I don't have Cable. Only internet lol. So, I stayed away from everything relating to The Flash until it came out on Netflix.......and holy shit! That was a GREAT season! Just like Jeremy said, it just got better and better as the season went on. And that last episode......the feels man.....the FEELS!!! My only fear is that the second season won't live up to what the first is.....but that first episode of season 2 was pretty damn good!
I also notice a Batman easter egg in the Flash, notice when they look at the future news article about the flash vanish it talked about Wayne Tech and Queen Consolidates as well if you pause and read the article, and also don't forget in Arrow there is a Harley Quin cameo with the suicide squad, meaning there is a Joker in that universe also a Batman already, so the show Gotham does not take place in the same universe as Arrow or Flash that a complete separate universe. Plus there may also be a Justice League hint when Barry talks to the future computer and she says "Barry Allen the Flash founding member of the....." and it cuts off, most likely be talking about the Justice League. I'm just excited to see where The Flash and Arrow is heading in the next couple of years.
If Fox and The CW wanted to they could get Gotham to crossover with The Flash and Arrow. Gotham is set in the 90s and The Flash and Arrow are set in present day so they could make it work some how.

KC Nwaneri It's been stated by Berlanti that due to The CW and CBS being owned by the same company that there is an interest in them being a shared universe but currently CBS isn't wanting that to be the case. So you're half right in that at some point they might be the same universe but for the time being they are completely separate. (In my opinion if Supergirl starts to bomb then CBS will play nice and they'll find a way to join the universes)

Mike, The Almighty Gengar Grodd was awesome. How can they make a telepathic, CG gorilla into an awesome villain? That's a testament to Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Barlanti., because they did it.
Most of the problems of Flash are mainly caused by the fact that it has 23 episodes, which means that it has lots of fillers which some of them are kind boring. Also the budget limited the performances and amount of action scenes. One of the reasons why daredevil is so great is that it has only 13 episodes and all of them are released at once. It doesn't have to worry about fillers and can take time to set up the story without worrying about the ratings during the set up part. Also Reverse Flash/Doctor Wells is awesome, one of the best villains I have ever seen in a TV show.

i waited to watch the entire season before I watched this video, finally finished season 1 today actually OMG it was so awesome I love this show and also how it crosses with the arrow several times. I'm sorry I may sound like a DC fanboy but the DC tv series universe is fucking kicking Marvels ass right now, I love DC and Marvel but I will forever be DC over Marvel any day. This is so fucking epic I loved it so much
After watching arrow I’m about more partial to the latter than flash, but seasons 1&2 were great. Then it just plummeted with cringey and weak ass writing, and wierd plot lines. Season 6&7 were the worst.
oh man having watched the whole season and watching this review again he is so right. I can't stop recommending it to my friends. it was so good, I'm so hyped for season two. it is easily one of my favorite shows.
What a time in life, flash was a beautiful show that maybe was a little typical but was smart and executed perfectly, Flash is one of my faves cause Grant Gustin, i wish it could of kept the momentum. Oh well, now we got Ezra 😢
Tol Hydra yes and no, it's fairly tame and like he says here, it gets extremely good as the show goes on. however this show is a spin off of the show Arrow, and they do a couple crossover episodes. you don't need to know everything about Arrow to kinda pick up whats goin on, but at times if you haven't seen it, it can be a bit confusing when it throws characters at you that you're supposed to know.

Flash's first season is probably the best first season of any series I have ever seen, it was just so confident in it's style and execution. But Jeremy, shame on you. Why did you not mention the awesome (there is a lot of that in this series) Arrow vs Flash episode (not just their training and fight, but Diggle's reaction to Barry's speed is just priceless).
I absolutely love the guy who played Harrison Wells/Eubert Thawn he does such a great job his facial expression and dialogue delivery along with that smug smile perfectly give off the impression that he's always one or two steps ahead of everyone else, like there's something he knows that he's not sharing, and I love how they build up his mystery
I straight up cried when Barry went back to see his mother and when the other flash says no and then he has his last conversation with his mom. OMG THE FEELS!
I couldn't agree with you more man.. This show was awesome. When he went back in time to save his mom I'm like "Flashpoint Paradox" but then he sees himself tell himself no, I was like "oh shit!! " and he gets to say goodbye to his mom. The best season ending in a long time.
Bit late to the game here, but just finished Season 1 of this show, quite literally one of the best shows I've ever seen. They did an amazing job with the chemistry between characters, the villains themselves, especially with the emotional moments and just had such fun with it. Will without a doubt be starting Season 2 today!
I agree with you on each and every point. In the first couple of episodes it's like there's a new bad guy(meta human according to the show) every episode, but as soon the reverse flash thread starts moving, it just gets better and Better and BETTER..!!! And the tsunami episode, was the first episode where I completely committed to the flash. AND then the FINALE!! No words! The 23 episodes payoff is awesome...!!! The MOST EPIC finale for a superhero TV show I've ever seen. It was so great, when I saw him traveling through time, the alternate future where he's handcuffed, when the future flash tells him not to interfere because the future flash already knows that he comes and then the scene with his mother, I almost cried not only because it was so cool, but it had so much heart .The writers went all bazzoka in the first season itself, with Eddy going all Looper, I don't know what they'll be doing for the second one. It's like the first season of flash>=second season of Arrow, and that's telling a lot. My only gripe with the show and this is me nitpicking, is that they tend to focus too much on the love triangle just like the Arrow. If they could tone that down for the second season, this show can get so much better. Final words: This is my favourite and the best superhero show. PERIOD. Watch it..!! :)
Oh don't worry, the movie version of Barry Allen will be shoved down into the mud just like all of the other characters they have because you know DC wants to make everyone like....Batman *sigh*

The Flash went above and beyond my expectations.One of the best shows I've ever had the pleasure of watching and I've watched alot of shows.Phenomenal cast with such amazing performances.I was hooked from the first episode,even before the whole RF came into the picture.They needed to build up to that and I think they executed it perfectly.The finale tore my heart in two but in a good way and I really cannot wait for the summer to be over so season 2 can start already.My life just feels so meaningless without it.However,I do have the entire first season downloaded so definitely going to be doing a marathon soon.I love how Grant made Barry Allen super likeable and human,unafraid to wear his emotions,unlike the dark brooding,repressed types which are way too common.I saw he was spotlighted for an Emmy Award,which I feel he would deserve to win given the chance.Such an amazing man and actor
I was too stunned to pay attention to the images Barry was seeing of the past and future. It was an awesome first season. I'm surprised by how many CW shows I've been enjoying lately.
I enjoyed Flash more than Daredevil, not that DD wasn't a great show, but Flash had a better story, bigger payoffs, better plot twists, and the action was just as enjoyable. DD had the darkness, good fighting, and more grit than we've seen in this genre due to it being on netflix, but in the end I was just more satisfied with Flash.
Prime87 I'm sorry what was that? Sure, I don't mind if you like the Flash better, of course not, that's completely subjective, but DD had way better writing, characters, acting and fighting. In DD you can feel each hit, it seems very real. In the Flash he has the speed and reaction to catch a bullet from a few meters behind him while unawares, but is caught by normal punches etc. while running around fighting quite often. Also, not once did I feel any real sense of danger in the Flash.
Unshaved Stuff DD had (and could afford) better actors, but Flash had quality acting as well, if the finale was no indicator of that. Yes, the Flash was a "lighter" show. DD had the grit, as I said, but they could do that bc its on Netflix. If it was on network TV, it'd be no different in tone than Arrow was in season1. DD is one of my least favorite comic book characters but they made it enjoyable. That deserves props. I would not put Kingpin..i mean Fisk over The Reverse Flash either. No. Just no. And not even b/c of the powers.
Adrian Heide If by "writing" you mean screenplay, sure, DD may have had an edge in that, but I believe Flash did have a better plot. DD was straightforward. Not many plot twists, but enough to make it interesting. Flash took us around the world. Even with Barry's abilities, they did make it so he had to struggle in each fight. In DD the only fight I honestly thought he should've lost was to Nobu. Otherwise its all the same. Good choreography, but we all know the main character isn't going to die. That last fight with Fisk was just terrible IMO. No way Fisk should've lasted against him. I said the action in Flash was just as enjoyable. Flash isn't a martial artist, he's a speedster. You can't draw a direct comparison b/t the two's action. But I liked them just as much.
Having a straight forward plot isn't a bad thing, what matters is if they manage to keep it interesting, which I think DD did much better. Of course their fights are going to be different, what I was talking about was that every time Barry seems to have to struggle in a fight it feels extremely forced, like he has problems simply to make it seem more interesting. Flash could simply never draw me in, it is fun to watch now and then, that's about it for me.
I honestly didn't think I'd like this show as much as I ended up doing, and now I'm really excited to see what happens in the next season! There were loads of easter eggs through the series that payed off towards the end so I didn't feel like I was being teased over nothing, and it actually made me like a character I used to think was quite dull. Definitely want to see some Wally West come in in the next series!

1st 7 episode's were origin stories for Barry, and the DC villans they intoduced. Still was pretty good then it just took off after " The Man In The Yellow Suit" while still introducing new character's such as Firestorm. Great 1st season!
Ezra is a great actor. And they can do so much more with a Movie budget. So yes he should try. If you are a fan of DC superheroes then you will agree with me.
I totally agree, man. The first time around I watched about half of it, up to the pied piper episode and then I dropped it. Luckily, I watched it through from the beginning to the end this time and I was so impressed. I teared up several times in the finale and I really wonder how that black hole thing will affect everything else. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to wait until fall to watch season 2 and I'm definitely going to end up with spoilers.

And other than not Actually being in his comic book costume Firestorm is so right I'm just in awe every time I see the professor! I could go on there's So much!
Flash proved that a comic book hero, if done well, can be successful on the TV platform. It has set a very very high bar for comic book programs to come. Bravo CW/DC. Following the show this season as been a privilege and a complete joy. As a DC fan, this just makes me excited for the cinematic universe that will continue with BVS.

Simon Pettersen yh apparently the deal was if Constantine was cancelled the actor who played Constantine in the tv series is going to be in del torro's dark justice league film. so we wont be completely like gone from the screen.
Unshaved Stuff In a world where everything media wise is controlled via the internet, gaining momentum could actually change more than we could imagine, as they count illegal downloads as well, just look at the Deadpool "leak" and how that worked out. They are shopping the series around to new channels, and anything at all is always better than nothing at all.
My favorite thing about comic books is always how utterly weird they are (alternate universes and time travel just lead to so many freaky plots and it delights me) so the fact that The Flash was just like "yeah screw it, bring in all the comic wackiness" made it so entertaining and fun.
I enjoyed how even though this show doesn't follow the comic book it acknowledges that there are different time lines that could have happened and one of them could be following the comic book story! But overall this is great show and I really enjoy watching it! Can't wait for season 2!
the last few episodes made no sense, the logic behind their decision was so terrible i couldn't stand it. The show is beautiful and well directed but script has so many holes that i wont bother watching further sadly. Was a great start and disappointing finish..

+Phinx CSGO because he's young, he is impetuous, he hasn't accepted his mother's death, he has this new power and he has a little bit of an invincibility complex and he's given this golden opportunity to risk it and get rid of eobard in the process. he's acting a bit selfish but out of a very human place. he's not superman he's not the best of all of us he's gonna make stupid ass decisions becuase he's a goddamn human. as far as why the black hole didn't destroy anything well I found a perfect analogy. think of the timeline as an oil soaked rope. now imagine the black hole as fire crawling up tell rope. it's gonna burn a bit of the timeline but if you put it out before it climbs higher up it the rest of the rope is reserved and eobard thawne can still come back in time.
The guy who played Harrison Well is so brilliant. Especially when he said "Now run, Barry, RUN!" And I thought the reverse flash was such a great villain. It wasn't all just about defeating the Superhero, I love the irony that in an attempt to defeat the superhero, the villain had to create the superhero himself, and especially towards the end when he told Barry everything, he said, "And now, somehow, I know what Joe and Henry feel when they look on you with pride. With love." If he meant that, it somehow meant that the villain had actually redeemed himself. Not to mention they have the same abilities. He's such a great villain for the superhero. I really wish they didn't just end him like that. I'd really like to see the story of how Eobard came to have his power and hates Flash.
I'm one of those people who tuned out after a couple of episodes. Also I'm so DONE with Arrow. But after this kind of review, I might give Flash another go. Careful, Jahns: I'll never get the time spent on it back, and I'll be holding you accountable if it doesn't deliver!
This was my first real exposure to the Flash beside the Justice League cartoon and I liked it. It's nice to have something that isn't Batman every once and a while. I liked Barry, I liked supportting cast, I liked the villains they faced, and Reverse-Flash is a great villain. And I had the same thoughts you had with Eddie and I'm glad they didn't made hm into a jerk.

+Peter Spanogiannis that is not what happens. The black hole was an issue with the stability of the closing wormhole, as well as a breach in the speed force, leading to earth 2. Nora Allen's murder is a timeline remnant, or a fixed point that will always happen in that timeline no matter what.
I tried to get into the Flash, but he's just so boring as a personality. I always think of Flash as kind of like Spider Man, where he's a bit of a smart mouth type and kinda goofy. The one in this series is just waaaayyy too Superman type who is just Mr. Heroic all the time and seems serious business. I think they missed out on the charm and uniqueness of what the character should bring, and made him fairly bland and unwatchable.

BrookIynRage He's just kinda nerdy, with a tiny bit of charm, but he's lacking the kinda smart mouthed wittiness usually associated with The Flash that kinda defines the character as much as Batman's Broodyness and Supermans' Boyscoutness.
The Flash is my 2nd favorite superhero of all time or at least DC hero. I love how they opened the possibilities of speed in some of the episodes. Everyone knows The Flash is the fastest man alive, but just the possibilities of creating tornadoes, putting out fires by sucking the air out of a room or even flight if he turned his hands fast enough like in the JLA episode about the island of the ravens. As far as the story plot I loved how they did it and with the flash you have so many alternate time lines so it keeps it fresh and interesting.
I cannot wait for season 2/heroes of tomorrow/arrow season 4, or how-ever it's all gonna be put together. Here's hoping the series can keep up this pace, it'll outdo the coming movies if it does.
Daredevil really licks this out of the water... Just stating my opinion. Saw the whole season and found it too cheesy and 'filler episode' filled... Every episode is same, with 2 minutes of the main story. Also the action is below average, rarely liked any fights in the whole season
I thought the main storyline the one with reverse flash was the best part of the show and fights with reverse flash were really cool. Without those part then the show would have been mediocre for me.
I think I'm obsessed with this show... All of the characters are great and there are real tearjerker moments in the finale *cough* Barry sees his mom *cough* can't wait for season 2!!!
This season's MVPs were Grant Gustin, Carlos Valdes, and of course Tom Cavanagh! I literally would wake up every Tuesday extra happy because I knew The Flash would be on that day. Great review Jeremy, glad you liked the season as much as I did!
Harrison wells arc isn't that complicated. He's from earth 2, zoom took his daughter, he needs to get back to save her. Not that difficult to understand

And he still had an arc where he killed a man and he still had mistrust from Team Flash.The character in general around Harrison Wells (or Eobard Thawne) is confusing at some times.

Holy shit. I'm not one of those annoying trolls that lies in the coments to appear cool or relatable. But I actually just finished season 1 before finally watching this review of it and I HONESTLY teared up 3 times too in the finale. Probably weird that that's something I think is 'totally, wack, cool!' but I doubt you'll see this/reply @Jeremy Jahns , and it has been 3 and a half years so I doubt you remember but were the three times when you cried (and SPOILERS) when he visits his dad and they talk about how amazing 'the flash/barry' is, when he's talking with his mum and when Eddie shoots himself? Love you and your videos man, as you have been for the past 3 and a half years (haha) keep up the awesomtacular videos!
I like the show but ironically it's way too fast. lol. What I mean is that by the end of just season 1 Barry had traveled through time, defeated his greatest foe, was about to save the world and just about everyone in his life learns his secret identity. If I were writing this show I would've done things very differently. For example: 1. Be more realistic: When he wakes up from being in a coma he's got perfect hair, no facial hair, and pretty much everyone treated him like he was out for a week when it was 9 fucking months! Give him a beard, put him in a wheelchair and make him feel like shit waking up after that long. Then the next day he can feel fantastic. 2. Put some tension between Barry and Joe: Call me crazy but if my father were falsely accused for the death of my mother then the last thing I would want is to be raised by the cop who arrested him. Joe's redemption story was way too light. Joe should've been raked with guilt and I have Barry begrudgingly forced to work with him once Joe realized Barry was telling the truth and have them develop a friendship from that point. 3. For gods sakes give the Rogues a bigger role: Why use Reverse Flash right away when Captain Cold could've been a much better threat to start the series with. Like make Lenard Snart the main villain and for the season finale use the Rogues to threaten the city and really stretch the Flash past his limits. 4. No time travel: When Smallville first aired they kept Superman grounded and I think the same principle should've been applied to the Flash. At least for the first season anyways. 5. Keep his identity a secret: That is one of the biggest rules for superheroes and The Flash couldn't wait to tell everyone. Jesus at least wait a few seasons. 6. No Team Flash: As much as I love Cisco the show could've done without giving the Flash a support group. It would've been better if they only knew him as the Flash and he would only come to them once and a while for help. Superman does it all the time. That also would've made his relationship with Team Arrow stronger as they would be the only ones who knew that Barry was the Flash aside from Joe. 7. And finally make Reverse Flash's mystery bigger and better: Like only hint at Eobard Thawne's existence during season one and then make him the main villain in season 2 but at the last minute just when you're convinced that Harrison Wells is RF pull the rug out from underneath and make someone you never expected be Reverse Flash like the police Captain or Eddie and show Harrison Wells as just a pawn and distraction to keep Barry off of Thawne's trail. Those are my ideas. Don't even get me started on Arrow.
Michael osei "Sigh" Ok then. Since you asked. But that is a LOT of ground to cover. So here's how I believe they could've made Arrow much better: 1. They definitely should've stayed away from all the Batman material. Don't get me wrong, I like Green Arrow and am happy that they've brought him a long way from his Smallville counterpart but his personality is all wrong. Green Arrow is the everyman of superheroes that fights to clean up the neighborhood let alone the whole goddamn city or the world. His personality should've been more likened to that of Nathan Drake's from the Uncharted series. Oliver is supposed to be more of an adventurer with a sarcastic sense of humor rather than a brooding vigilante. 2. Season 1 was damn near perfect in terms of style, plot and characters. For me season 2 was good but not especially great even though most people would disagree. My point is as much as I love Deathstroke his motivation for becoming a villain bent on destroying the city seemed really weak. It would've been a better story to have Sebastian Blood be the brains behind the plot to take over the city but after being continually thwarted by Arrow he'd naturally hire the only man capable of stopping Oliver. Henceforth a Judas contract. Slade Wilson would've been better off being a professional assassin rather than a vengeful psychopath who never shuts up about Shado the girl half his age that he never even kissed. Plus they never should've "cured" him either. It would've been so much cooler for Oliver to overcome Slade despite his super strength and the nuclear threat was stupid as well. All they needed was the threat of Blood or Deathstroke taking over Star city rather than destroying it. 3. Sara was better off dead. And before you disagree just hear me out. Sara's death was simply a plot devise used in the beginning of season 3 to put Oliver in the crosshairs of Ra's al Ghul which once again is Batman material. And Ra's al Ghul didn't even care about Sara, he only dueled with Oliver out of respect for his daughter and just happened to admire Oliver's willingness to survive. See this is where it got way off point. Sara's death should've been more of a catalyst that changed everything for Laurel and Nyssa al Ghul. While Laurel becomes more of a hero it should've turned Nyssa into the main villain of season 3 instead of her father. And of course they needed to keep Laurel alive and maybe even turned her into a meta human like the Earth 2 version or the newest Black Canary. I mean why did they waste such a great character and bring back Sara who's pretty much turned into an arrogant bitch. 4. I think that I speak for everyone when I say that Olicity was the biggest mistake the show ever made. While Felicity was (for some reason) a popular character at first she made a huge dive after she pretty much become a selfish brat in season 4. It feels like just now the writers have finally figured out that what Felicity needs is a character arc. I mean come on she sat behind a computer screen for five seasons. Oh wait yeah she became paralyzed (also Batman material) and then was able to walk again which is kind of a dick move really. It's a slap in the face to people who really are paralyzed. At least Barbara Gordon stayed in that wheelchair and didn't let it stop her from fighting crime but nope Felicity is the lucky one. Hopefully they're going in the direction of having her become a villain. Seriously if she wanted she could do some major damage and I think it would make an interesting story to have her cross that line and for Oliver to be forced to stop her. 5. Damien Darhk should NOT have been the main villain of season 4. While I'm not saying that he should've been excluded from the show I think that it would've been better if he turned out to be only a mere puppet to a more powerful antagonist and the one I'm thinking of is Trigon. It would've been a good reason to bring Raven to the show or to keep Constantine around for more than one episode plus it's always interesting to have a villain as powerful as Damien Darhk only to find out that he works for someone even worse. So those are my thoughts on Arrow. Now if you're wondering what I think of Legends of tomorrow I think that should've made Rip Hunter more of a Malcolm Reynolds type and replaced every other character with the Justice Society of America. Same for Supergirl. Throw out that show, replace it with Superman. Done deal.
The Flash was already my favorite super hero but the show was....... I can't even explain how much I loved it. Everything from the origin to the season finale was just it for me I wish I could time travel to the fall so I can get season 2 and bring it back with me
I think Eddie is going to come back as Zoom. In the comics Hunter Zolomon was a police profiler who worked with the Flash and latter got powers and went nuts. His whole thing was trying to make the Flash a better hero through making him suffer tragedy. I can see them going that route with Eddie.
I'm seeing a bunch of people complaining how they wanted the show to go, there was so many ways the writers could've went with the show, but they tried their best to give us a good season, let's just be thankful we got a show for him. Let's stop complaining about alot of things and just be thankful for once, huh?
Tom Cavanagh was one of the highlights of this show for me. He was the best villain. I'm gonna be so bummed if he doesn't return in season two in some capacity, either as Reverse Flash or the real Harrison Wells who wasn't killed in the alternate timeline.

The Flash is pretty much my favorite superhero show; heck it's one of my favorite TV shows in general. I would watch every episode with a couple of friends and we'd all geek out at the cool shit that happened and all the things from the comic that appeared (from the names of characters to hints and references to things like the Justice League).

I know I'm a little late to this party, but I don't have Cable. Only internet lol. So, I stayed away from everything relating to The Flash until it came out on Netflix.......and holy shit! That was a GREAT season! Just like Jeremy said, it just got better and better as the season went on. And that last episode......the feels man.....the FEELS!!! My only fear is that the second season won't live up to what the first is.....but that first episode of season 2 was pretty damn good!

I also notice a Batman easter egg in the Flash, notice when they look at the future news article about the flash vanish it talked about Wayne Tech and Queen Consolidates as well if you pause and read the article, and also don't forget in Arrow there is a Harley Quin cameo with the suicide squad, meaning there is a Joker in that universe also a Batman already, so the show Gotham does not take place in the same universe as Arrow or Flash that a complete separate universe. Plus there may also be a Justice League hint when Barry talks to the future computer and she says "Barry Allen the Flash founding member of the....." and it cuts off, most likely be talking about the Justice League. I'm just excited to see where The Flash and Arrow is heading in the next couple of years.

KC Nwaneri It's been stated by Berlanti that due to The CW and CBS being owned by the same company that there is an interest in them being a shared universe but currently CBS isn't wanting that to be the case. So you're half right in that at some point they might be the same universe but for the time being they are completely separate.
(In my opinion if Supergirl starts to bomb then CBS will play nice and they'll find a way to join the universes)

Most of the problems of Flash are mainly caused by the fact that it has 23 episodes, which means that it has lots of fillers which some of them are kind boring. Also the budget limited the performances and amount of action scenes.
One of the reasons why daredevil is so great is that it has only 13 episodes and all of them are released at once. It doesn't have to worry about fillers and can take time to set up the story without worrying about the ratings during the set up part.
Also Reverse Flash/Doctor Wells is awesome, one of the best villains I have ever seen in a TV show.
*23, and the filler episodes probably lead to something in the future (or the past, I don't fucking know). Would you want a random episode where Grod comes back, but you don't know who he is?

After watching arrow I’m about more partial to the latter than flash, but seasons 1&2 were great. Then it just plummeted with cringey and weak ass writing, and wierd plot lines. Season 6&7 were the worst.

Tol Hydra yes and no, it's fairly tame and like he says here, it gets extremely good as the show goes on. however this show is a spin off of the show Arrow, and they do a couple crossover episodes. you don't need to know everything about Arrow to kinda pick up whats goin on, but at times if you haven't seen it, it can be a bit confusing when it throws characters at you that you're supposed to know.

Yes it is trust me. These shows are always made to be understood and enjoyed by people who know nothing about the source material.
Flash's first season is probably the best first season of any series I have ever seen, it was just so confident in it's style and execution.
But Jeremy, shame on you. Why did you not mention the awesome (there is a lot of that in this series) Arrow vs Flash episode (not just their training and fight, but Diggle's reaction to Barry's speed is just priceless).
I absolutely love the guy who played Harrison Wells/Eubert Thawn he does such a great job his facial expression and dialogue delivery along with that smug smile perfectly give off the impression that he's always one or two steps ahead of everyone else, like there's something he knows that he's not sharing, and I love how they build up his mystery
I straight up cried when Barry went back to see his mother and when the other flash says no and then he has his last conversation with his mom. OMG THE FEELS!

I couldn't agree with you more man.. This show was awesome. When he went back in time to save his mom I'm like "Flashpoint Paradox" but then he sees himself tell himself no, I was like "oh shit!! " and he gets to say goodbye to his mom. The best season ending in a long time.
Bit late to the game here, but just finished Season 1 of this show, quite literally one of the best shows I've ever seen. They did an amazing job with the chemistry between characters, the villains themselves, especially with the emotional moments and just had such fun with it. Will without a doubt be starting Season 2 today!
Tom Cavanagh is seriously the best actor in this show. All 3 versions of him in the 3 seasons have been entertaining in their own respect.

I agree with you on each and every point. In the first couple of episodes it's like there's a new bad guy(meta human according to the show) every episode, but as soon the reverse flash thread starts moving, it just gets better and Better and BETTER..!!! And the tsunami episode, was the first episode where I completely committed to the flash. AND then the FINALE!! No words! The 23 episodes payoff is awesome...!!! The MOST EPIC finale for a superhero TV show I've ever seen. It was so great, when I saw him traveling through time, the alternate future where he's handcuffed, when the future flash tells him not to interfere because the future flash already knows that he comes and then the scene with his mother, I almost cried not only because it was so cool, but it had so much heart .The writers went all bazzoka in the first season itself, with Eddy going all Looper, I don't know what they'll be doing for the second one. It's like the first season of flash>=second season of Arrow, and that's telling a lot. My only gripe with the show and this is me nitpicking, is that they tend to focus too much on the love triangle just like the Arrow. If they could tone that down for the second season, this show can get so much better. Final words: This is my favourite and the best superhero show. PERIOD. Watch it..!! :)

The Flash went above and beyond my expectations.One of the best shows I've ever had the pleasure of watching and I've watched alot of shows.Phenomenal cast with such amazing performances.I was hooked from the first episode,even before the whole RF came into the picture.They needed to build up to that and I think they executed it perfectly.The finale tore my heart in two but in a good way and I really cannot wait for the summer to be over so season 2 can start already.My life just feels so meaningless without it.However,I do have the entire first season downloaded so definitely going to be doing a marathon soon.I love how Grant made Barry Allen super likeable and human,unafraid to wear his emotions,unlike the dark brooding,repressed types which are way too common.I saw he was spotlighted for an Emmy Award,which I feel he would deserve to win given the chance.Such an amazing man and actor

I enjoyed Flash more than Daredevil, not that DD wasn't a great show, but Flash had a better story, bigger payoffs, better plot twists, and the action was just as enjoyable. DD had the darkness, good fighting, and more grit than we've seen in this genre due to it being on netflix, but in the end I was just more satisfied with Flash.
Prime87 I'm sorry what was that? Sure, I don't mind if you like the Flash better, of course not, that's completely subjective, but DD had way better writing, characters, acting and fighting. In DD you can feel each hit, it seems very real. In the Flash he has the speed and reaction to catch a bullet from a few meters behind him while unawares, but is caught by normal punches etc. while running around fighting quite often. Also, not once did I feel any real sense of danger in the Flash.

Unshaved Stuff DD had (and could afford) better actors, but Flash had quality acting as well, if the finale was no indicator of that. Yes, the Flash was a "lighter" show. DD had the grit, as I said, but they could do that bc its on Netflix. If it was on network TV, it'd be no different in tone than Arrow was in season1. DD is one of my least favorite comic book characters but they made it enjoyable. That deserves props. I would not put Kingpin..i mean Fisk over The Reverse Flash either. No. Just no. And not even b/c of the powers.
Adrian Heide If by "writing" you mean screenplay, sure, DD may have had an edge in that, but I believe Flash did have a better plot. DD was straightforward. Not many plot twists, but enough to make it interesting. Flash took us around the world. Even with Barry's abilities, they did make it so he had to struggle in each fight. In DD the only fight I honestly thought he should've lost was to Nobu. Otherwise its all the same. Good choreography, but we all know the main character isn't going to die. That last fight with Fisk was just terrible IMO. No way Fisk should've lasted against him. I said the action in Flash was just as enjoyable. Flash isn't a martial artist, he's a speedster. You can't draw a direct comparison b/t the two's action. But I liked them just as much.
Having a straight forward plot isn't a bad thing, what matters is if they manage to keep it interesting, which I think DD did much better. Of course their fights are going to be different, what I was talking about was that every time Barry seems to have to struggle in a fight it feels extremely forced, like he has problems simply to make it seem more interesting. Flash could simply never draw me in, it is fun to watch now and then, that's about it for me.
I honestly didn't think I'd like this show as much as I ended up doing, and now I'm really excited to see what happens in the next season! There were loads of easter eggs through the series that payed off towards the end so I didn't feel like I was being teased over nothing, and it actually made me like a character I used to think was quite dull. Definitely want to see some Wally West come in in the next series!

I totally agree, man. The first time around I watched about half of it, up to the pied piper episode and then I dropped it. Luckily, I watched it through from the beginning to the end this time and I was so impressed. I teared up several times in the finale and I really wonder how that black hole thing will affect everything else.
Unfortunately, I'm going to have to wait until fall to watch season 2 and I'm definitely going to end up with spoilers.

Flash proved that a comic book hero, if done well, can be successful on the TV platform. It has set a very very high bar for comic book programs to come. Bravo CW/DC. Following the show this season as been a privilege and a complete joy. As a DC fan, this just makes me excited for the cinematic universe that will continue with BVS.

Unshaved Stuff In a world where everything media wise is controlled via the internet, gaining momentum could actually change more than we could imagine, as they count illegal downloads as well, just look at the Deadpool "leak" and how that worked out. They are shopping the series around to new channels, and anything at all is always better than nothing at all.
My favorite thing about comic books is always how utterly weird they are (alternate universes and time travel just lead to so many freaky plots and it delights me) so the fact that The Flash was just like "yeah screw it, bring in all the comic wackiness" made it so entertaining and fun.

I enjoyed how even though this show doesn't follow the comic book it acknowledges that there are different time lines that could have happened and one of them could be following the comic book story! But overall this is great show and I really enjoy watching it! Can't wait for season 2!

And I thought the reverse flash was such a great villain. It wasn't all just about defeating the Superhero, I love the irony that in an attempt to defeat the superhero, the villain had to create the superhero himself, and especially towards the end when he told Barry everything, he said,
"And now, somehow, I know what Joe and Henry feel when they look on you with pride. With love." If he meant that, it somehow meant that the villain had actually redeemed himself.
Not to mention they have the same abilities. He's such a great villain for the superhero. I really wish they didn't just end him like that. I'd really like to see the story of how Eobard came to have his power and hates Flash.
I'm one of those people who tuned out after a couple of episodes. Also I'm so DONE with Arrow. But after this kind of review, I might give Flash another go. Careful, Jahns: I'll never get the time spent on it back, and I'll be holding you accountable if it doesn't deliver!

This was my first real exposure to the Flash beside the Justice League cartoon and I liked it. It's nice to have something that isn't Batman every once and a while. I liked Barry, I liked supportting cast, I liked the villains they faced, and Reverse-Flash is a great villain. And I had the same thoughts you had with Eddie and I'm glad they didn't made hm into a jerk.
Also the time travel thing doesn't make too much sense. If Eddy killed himself, how did Reverse flash kill Barries mom if he never existed?

+Peter Spanogiannis that is not what happens. The black hole was an issue with the stability of the closing wormhole, as well as a breach in the speed force, leading to earth 2. Nora Allen's murder is a timeline remnant, or a fixed point that will always happen in that timeline no matter what.

I tried to get into the Flash, but he's just so boring as a personality. I always think of Flash as kind of like Spider Man, where he's a bit of a smart mouth type and kinda goofy. The one in this series is just waaaayyy too Superman type who is just Mr. Heroic all the time and seems serious business. I think they missed out on the charm and uniqueness of what the character should bring, and made him fairly bland and unwatchable.

The Flash is my 2nd favorite superhero of all time or at least DC hero. I love how they opened the possibilities of speed in some of the episodes. Everyone knows The Flash is the fastest man alive, but just the possibilities of creating tornadoes, putting out fires by sucking the air out of a room or even flight if he turned his hands fast enough like in the JLA episode about the island of the ravens. As far as the story plot I loved how they did it and with the flash you have so many alternate time lines so it keeps it fresh and interesting.
Still prefer Marvel over DC, but this show is very enjoyable for me! :D

I cannot wait for season 2/heroes of tomorrow/arrow season 4, or how-ever it's all gonna be put together. Here's hoping the series can keep up this pace, it'll outdo the coming movies if it does.
Daredevil really licks this out of the water... Just stating my opinion. Saw the whole season and found it too cheesy and 'filler episode' filled...
Every episode is same, with 2 minutes of the main story. Also the action is below average, rarely liked any fights in the whole season
I thought the main storyline the one with reverse flash was the best part of the show and fights with reverse flash were really cool. Without those part then the show would have been mediocre for me.

The Speed Force Is in Season 2, but Harrison Wells is a complicated storyline.
Harrison wells arc isn't that complicated. He's from earth 2, zoom took his daughter, he needs to get back to save her. Not that difficult to understand

Holy shit. I'm not one of those annoying trolls that lies in the coments to appear cool or relatable. But I actually just finished season 1 before finally watching this review of it and I HONESTLY teared up 3 times too in the finale. Probably weird that that's something I think is 'totally, wack, cool!' but I doubt you'll see this/reply @Jeremy Jahns , and it has been 3 and a half years so I doubt you remember but were the three times when you cried (and SPOILERS) when he visits his dad and they talk about how amazing 'the flash/barry' is, when he's talking with his mum and when Eddie shoots himself? Love you and your videos man, as you have been for the past 3 and a half years (haha) keep up the awesomtacular videos!
I like the show but ironically it's way too fast. lol. What I mean is that by the end of just season 1 Barry had traveled through time, defeated his greatest foe, was about to save the world and just about everyone in his life learns his secret identity. If I were writing this show I would've done things very differently.
For example:
1. Be more realistic: When he wakes up from being in a coma he's got perfect hair, no facial hair, and pretty much everyone treated him like he was out for a week when it was 9 fucking months! Give him a beard, put him in a wheelchair and make him feel like shit waking up after that long. Then the next day he can feel fantastic.
2. Put some tension between Barry and Joe: Call me crazy but if my father were falsely accused for the death of my mother then the last thing I would want is to be raised by the cop who arrested him. Joe's redemption story was way too light. Joe should've been raked with guilt and I have Barry begrudgingly forced to work with him once Joe realized Barry was telling the truth and have them develop a friendship from that point.
3. For gods sakes give the Rogues a bigger role: Why use Reverse Flash right away when Captain Cold could've been a much better threat to start the series with. Like make Lenard Snart the main villain and for the season finale use the Rogues to threaten the city and really stretch the Flash past his limits.
4. No time travel: When Smallville first aired they kept Superman grounded and I think the same principle should've been applied to the Flash. At least for the first season anyways.
5. Keep his identity a secret: That is one of the biggest rules for superheroes and The Flash couldn't wait to tell everyone. Jesus at least wait a few seasons.
6. No Team Flash: As much as I love Cisco the show could've done without giving the Flash a support group. It would've been better if they only knew him as the Flash and he would only come to them once and a while for help. Superman does it all the time. That also would've made his relationship with Team Arrow stronger as they would be the only ones who knew that Barry was the Flash aside from Joe.
7. And finally make Reverse Flash's mystery bigger and better: Like only hint at Eobard Thawne's existence during season one and then make him the main villain in season 2 but at the last minute just when you're convinced that Harrison Wells is RF pull the rug out from underneath and make someone you never expected be Reverse Flash like the police Captain or Eddie and show Harrison Wells as just a pawn and distraction to keep Barry off of Thawne's trail.
Those are my ideas. Don't even get me started on Arrow.
The Spectacular Gonzo do arrow
Michael osei "Sigh" Ok then. Since you asked. But that is a LOT of ground to cover. So here's how I believe they could've made Arrow much better:
1. They definitely should've stayed away from all the Batman material. Don't get me wrong, I like Green Arrow and am happy that they've brought him a long way from his Smallville counterpart but his personality is all wrong. Green Arrow is the everyman of superheroes that fights to clean up the neighborhood let alone the whole goddamn city or the world. His personality should've been more likened to that of Nathan Drake's from the Uncharted series. Oliver is supposed to be more of an adventurer with a sarcastic sense of humor rather than a brooding vigilante.
2. Season 1 was damn near perfect in terms of style, plot and characters. For me season 2 was good but not especially great even though most people would disagree. My point is as much as I love Deathstroke his motivation for becoming a villain bent on destroying the city seemed really weak. It would've been a better story to have Sebastian Blood be the brains behind the plot to take over the city but after being continually thwarted by Arrow he'd naturally hire the only man capable of stopping Oliver. Henceforth a Judas contract. Slade Wilson would've been better off being a professional assassin rather than a vengeful psychopath who never shuts up about Shado the girl half his age that he never even kissed. Plus they never should've "cured" him either. It would've been so much cooler for Oliver to overcome Slade despite his super strength and the nuclear threat was stupid as well. All they needed was the threat of Blood or Deathstroke taking over Star city rather than destroying it.
3. Sara was better off dead. And before you disagree just hear me out. Sara's death was simply a plot devise used in the beginning of season 3 to put Oliver in the crosshairs of Ra's al Ghul which once again is Batman material. And Ra's al Ghul didn't even care about Sara, he only dueled with Oliver out of respect for his daughter and just happened to admire Oliver's willingness to survive. See this is where it got way off point. Sara's death should've been more of a catalyst that changed everything for Laurel and Nyssa al Ghul. While Laurel becomes more of a hero it should've turned Nyssa into the main villain of season 3 instead of her father. And of course they needed to keep Laurel alive and maybe even turned her into a meta human like the Earth 2 version or the newest Black Canary. I mean why did they waste such a great character and bring back Sara who's pretty much turned into an arrogant bitch.
4. I think that I speak for everyone when I say that Olicity was the biggest mistake the show ever made. While Felicity was (for some reason) a popular character at first she made a huge dive after she pretty much become a selfish brat in season 4. It feels like just now the writers have finally figured out that what Felicity needs is a character arc. I mean come on she sat behind a computer screen for five seasons. Oh wait yeah she became paralyzed (also Batman material) and then was able to walk again which is kind of a dick move really. It's a slap in the face to people who really are paralyzed. At least Barbara Gordon stayed in that wheelchair and didn't let it stop her from fighting crime but nope Felicity is the lucky one. Hopefully they're going in the direction of having her become a villain. Seriously if she wanted she could do some major damage and I think it would make an interesting story to have her cross that line and for Oliver to be forced to stop her.
5. Damien Darhk should NOT have been the main villain of season 4. While I'm not saying that he should've been excluded from the show I think that it would've been better if he turned out to be only a mere puppet to a more powerful antagonist and the one I'm thinking of is Trigon. It would've been a good reason to bring Raven to the show or to keep Constantine around for more than one episode plus it's always interesting to have a villain as powerful as Damien Darhk only to find out that he works for someone even worse.
So those are my thoughts on Arrow. Now if you're wondering what I think of Legends of tomorrow I think that should've made Rip Hunter more of a Malcolm Reynolds type and replaced every other character with the Justice Society of America. Same for Supergirl. Throw out that show, replace it with Superman. Done deal.

I think Eddie is going to come back as Zoom. In the comics Hunter Zolomon was a police profiler who worked with the Flash and latter got powers and went nuts. His whole thing was trying to make the Flash a better hero through making him suffer tragedy. I can see them going that route with Eddie.
I'm seeing a bunch of people complaining how they wanted the show to go, there was so many ways the writers could've went with the show, but they tried their best to give us a good season, let's just be thankful we got a show for him. Let's stop complaining about alot of things and just be thankful for once, huh?
