Even tho Julius Is really bad From A Boss design standpoint I do kind of like he's one of the few disney Secret bosses Wish we had more of those

i don't even know why dream eaters are even disabled for the julius fight. honestly, dream eaters would've been greatly used in secret bosses just to make it important to have a good team you might want to use. I get it for something like Re:Mind where Sora is by himself and allies can be obstructive to the flow of fights, but all it does it make DDD, a game with a great lack of post-game content feel even more wasteful.
Solely just to give you a hard time and piss you off even further why would they wanna make it easier on you 😂?!?!? Lol obviously the question is sarcastic and not at all legit I feel your pain man I asked the same question why the hell did we get no back up 😭🤣🤣
I totally agree. This is definitely a boss of all time. Love the character pull from an obscure Disney movie, but I hardly remember the actual fight.
I have never fought him myself, but he gives me the vibes of a coin-op arcade fighting game superboss. Never intended to be reached so he has a super simple moveset, but is thoroughly intended to devour quarters.
I remember this guy. I hated dealing with him because of his speed and reach which was stupidly broken.
Looked up the Ballon spell tactic and beat him with both Sora and Riku for their weapon.
Jeez man. I wonder if Osaka Team even play tested this fight properly?

Anyways great video, it kept me hooked and even though I don’t know about kh, this video kept my interest through the whole video.
It's crazy how they made great bosses in kh2 (Lingering Will, Marli, etc.), then they f*ck up mutiple times with Julius, Dustflier, Mysterious figure, just to name a few..
And then they (slightly) disappoint again with base kh3 bosses, but then recover themselves with the kh3 dlc bosses.

It's cause there are always different teams working on each game. The osaka team needed some time to get used to designing boss fights.

The only time Disney ever acknowledged Runaway Brain, and it’s via one of the most underwhelming KH bosses.
Im fairly certain i beat this guy as a child on the 3ds with a full deck of curaga. At the very least i definitely didnt have balloon spells
Julius is a KH3D boss. Unlike a BBS boss, he actually works on a technical level, but that is all that can be said about him because he is incredibly obnoxious to fight most of the time regardless.
I'd use my classic "this would be better if hand(developer of Days and Re:coded) made it", but I am not quite sure actually...since despite Re:coded being a better game than 3D, its secret bosses were much worse than Julius tbh.
hand seems to have a track record of just reusing existing bosses as their super boss but with a few twists, which isn't always bad but has had mixed results. As you mentioned, the superbosses in 358/2 aren't all that great, and the ones in re:coded can't really be hit stun after a certain point thanks to how bugged enemies work. On the other hand, they did a pretty great job with the superbosses in their latest game: Neo Twewy.

I feel like Julius and classic kingdom as previews of a sort for kh3 implied that originally there was going to be a focus on classic disney shorts for the Disney worlds
For best results, have Balloonra or Balloonga and Curaga as your Deck Commands, equip a Keyblade that will do decent damage with that strat as both Sora and Riku and equip Superglide as one of Sora's Action Commands and replace Dodge Roll and Guard with Dark Roll and Dark Barrier for Riku's Action Commands. Sora cannot enter Flowmotion while he's gliding and Dark Roll and Barrier bolsters Riku's defense. This boss is where Osaka Team started to learn from how they designed superbosses, considering that their best superboss is one of the best bosses in the entire KH series.
This fight made me want to pull my hair out. Was so relieved when I beat it. Then I learned about the balloon cheese years later 😭
This boss was super boring admittedly… like he was tough and I was scared but like even doing the cheese method with Lingering Will is harder because if you mess up at all, it’s game over!
I don't remember the 3DS version of this boss being different, if at all. It is harder, but that's because it runs at lower framerate and since Julius moves so fast, having a smaller screen makes it more tedious. Oh, and every attempt you made put your commands on cooldown, I think it was fixed in the remaster, idk. But it is practically the same. My strategy was, in fact, using Firaga Blast with Sora, but other than that, Balloon spells.
Can't believe 9 year old me managed to beat him on my 3ds in proud mode. Like I do remember struggling for like 2 years, coming back to try again every now and then but god damn. I should try another DDD run tbh...
I don't know if I should feel proud of myself for defeating the guy with my regular command deck on Critical or bad for never realizing how much easier it'll have been if I just used BALLOONS :/

The first tier of balloon commands are really good in this fight, they reload faster and stun him very consistently. Firaga burst can also be used to good affect but I never tried the fight with it
He has some dumb stuff but he honestly isn’t that bad if you have some good magic and high stun melees (shadow breaker). You have to be patient with Julius, there are some moves which are safe for hitting him. Such as his pile driver where he slides, roll out the way and use a magic command. Preferably on his last rotation of spamming it. The big problem with this fight is that you have to be patient with 13 health bars(?)! I can easily get past most of them but by the time he uses his desperation move I can get locked out of cures. My tip for that is having your worst moves in your command list highlighted so he removes them. Only cure when you have to. He is by no means the best, but hitting him with regular combos isn’t that smart considering how aggressive they are.
Ah yes, superbosses in the handheld games are... very memorable for the wrong reasons. xD
I actually liked the bbs super bosses not in a combat stand point but just the overall display of the characters.

Yo Snakwa, did you like/hate this fight more as Sora or as Riku?
It was a frustrating fight as both characters obviously, but I liked doing it as Riku because he has a better block (Dark Barrier) and even with all health boosts as both characters, Riku always had more health than Sora.
Now without the cheese method definitely Sora, but that’s a different story entirely.

I think the main issue with this boss is the lack of encouragement to use everything you've learned up until that point, the osaka games can be pretty inconsistent with that as some bosses (outside postgame ones) rely on cheap tactics to win while some don't, BBS is one that i usually look at in terms of a KH game where i really wonder what exactly went wrong with its combat, because alot of commands in that game are pretty unviable and while DDD tried it's best to fix that we all balloon ended up breaking the balance scale, BBS' "air combat" is borderline non existent due to it being floaty and attempting to chain commands in the air will unfortunately glue you to the ground with most of them leading you to get bopped in the face, while still floaty, i do appreciate DDD addressing some of these issues and while not perfect, its a step. Recoded perfected in my opinion but there's not many bosses for you to actually flex on.

Julius is...alright. I beat him once back on the 3DS. It took multiple, multiple, MULTIPLE attempts. But I managed. As for fighting him in the HD remaster, Eww. I didn't bother with him. Not worth the frustration. He's tough, for sure. But for ALL THE WRONG REASONS. Over all, he's a decent boss. But NOT worthy of a secret boss or superboss. He's no fucking Sephiroth, I can tell ya that much. But yeah, Julius....he's alright.

They legit made an oversized gas station inflatable a supurboss and thought that would be compelling, DDD is definitely one of my least favorite KH games so I'm not too surprised

I actually beat this fight with both characters on the 3DS... but it was frustrating as hell, NGL I think it nearly ruined the rest of the game for me.
I only beat him once as Riku on 3DS. It was not fun
