I have not heard the word pantser before - I love it! Even though I am very much a plotter, I still find those character profile outlines waaay too much. I used them once before and I found it a bit tedious. Good look for NaNoWriMo!
They are so tedious! I’m glad a plotter agrees because WOW it was a lot! But I also think if I pick and choose which info to fill out on it, it could be helpful. Thank you and good luck to you as well!
I like using a map to help facilitate ideas. I might have to wait until next year to participate in NaNoWriMo myself. I'm trying to finish my first novel by the end of the year and need to put all my effort into that, but I like watching what you and other writers are doing to get ideas for next year.
@@143tay3 They also have camp nanowrimo in April and July where the energy is almost as high in the writing community and people set their own goals instead of the 50k of a first draft that's the goal for everyone with NaNoWriMo in November!
I've also been playing around with map making before NaNo! It's almost too fun, I've been procrastinating a fair bit 😂 although, I've been using digital map makers. I'm not artistic enough for pen and paper
Hey Sarah! I found that you were having a problem answering 80 questions for character profile as a pantser, so I would recommend you to watch Abbie Emmons's Character profile videos as she make so many videos on character profile, internal conflict, character backstory, etc....
this kinda video is so so helpfull, iam participating this year in nanawrimo and just didnt started making story outlines .....but i will do it and i am thinking of start vlogging nanowrimo month.. lets see...
I really enjoyed seeing more of your creative process in this one! It's interesting how writers go about things so differently; I always begin with characters and character profiles because that's my favorite thing, but then can struggle with plot sometimes, so . . .
I’ve been turning into a plotter this year too! I went like, all the way though. 😆 My outline is not ready for NaNo, but I’m so excited for it to start! Great video! I’m looking forward to nano vlogs, if you’re going to be doing them!
I had a cold 2 weaks ago, so cheers to Sara for making such an amazing video. I've just got a blue tooth keybooard so new rewriting a quarter of my story that I have all redy fininish. hope to finish the full thing before nexy year and start on the full rewrite. hope this makes sence. thank you so much for inspiring and teaching me about writing, thank you.
After watching this video I wanna take part again in the NaNo, but I'm so busy and I shouldn't. Last year I did 53k and it was exhausting. Mmmm who knows. Good luck everyone!
What did you decide to do? Totally fair if you didn't decide to, just because you don't do NaNo doesn't mean you can't work on writing during this month :)
@@SaraLubratt I'm just revising my novel, adding some descriptions, changing few things... There are around 100.000 words, so it's probably enough work for this November hahaha.
I am impressed with how quickly you have developed this new book idea. All the best to you in NaNo. Because of your last video, I was brainstorming ideas for this crazy new scifi during this one. The pasta idea for maps is great: I am going to use that again. At the moment, I have not used a character profile. I think characters develop in my head, but I also have a weakness of not focusing on their burning desire. Some prompts might be helpful. By the way, those paintings look good! Looking forward to your NaNo journey!
Ack! so exciting! Congratulations on all the idea progress ^_^ Again; not doing NaNo this year, but hyped for all the writing and writing content going on in November ^_^
I tried to prep for nano. I got somethings ready like my planner and picked out what days I can and can’t write. But the actual story planning is hard for me since I’m a pantser. I have my Pinterest board with ideas but that’s about it.
The couch caught my attention. Did you personally choose those patterned pillow covers? Playlist music really helps me which I just learned recently. I play the same songs over and over again while writing my novel. It will be a different playlist for a different story. It helps my mood since every time I hear them, I was brought back to that specific project. So when it's time to revise and edit them, I will be slightly on the motivated already.
The blue and white ones yes, the grey and white ones with the diamond pattern and the longer skinny one came with the couch. I totally agree!! Playlists are so helpful!
I'm I ready? Probably not. However, I like having some mystery about things that I learn as I write. Which is weird since I"m a planner. I have a complete scene's list and detailed scenes descriptions with bullets of what happens in each scene. Yet, I only know my characters somewhat, like their motivations and their appearance and ages. The rest I'll find out as I write, I guess.
@@SaraLubratt I most likely won't. I've written several novels and every one I started I found that I forgot something to prepare. So I had to figure it out as I write. I've just come to it is just part of my writing process.
Is NaNoWriMo necessary? Also I watch your videos while I write sometimes as it encourages me in a way? I take breaks to either plan my plots and chapters or I watch your videos.
Is there anyway you could show us the questions that you picked and answered, I am struggling trying to build up my characters and need a little boost!!
Hey Sara! How much do you read every day though? I always have this subconsious habit of "reading for inspiration" So I read a chapter of Artemis fowl..... Which is over like half an hour or more sometimes but I get really carried away sometimes and read a lot more, eventually tiring myself out. Do you recommend this? Edit: Also do you have a discord server for the community?
Reading is a great way to stay inspired! I am working on my reading habit but I like to read a "few" pages before I go to bed :). I do not yet have a discord server, but hopefully coming soon!

What do you pin for your pinterest boards? Landscapes, art? I'm interested in making a pinterest boad.
Anything that makes me think about the book! That could be landscapes, a lot of art, an outfit, a character or hairstyle, a quote, etc

NaNoWriMo is not necessary at all, but I look at it as a tool to help push me through a fast rough draft
2 things:
1. Are you okay? You sounded sick
2. I make my maps by outlining rocks LOL
