"This is a social media gig and he's better at it than everybody. The End." I absolutely fkin love that. I can't understand how he can get any hate whatsoever. He's unbelievably talented, works hard and seems like a completely great dude on top of it
Combine jealousy with the aversion of other people being different than you and you get those kind of people.
I mean, the tunes he plays along to are his backing track, he's not the backing track. He does absolutely seem like a great dude.
At this point, the only legitimate criticism of him is that he's nowhere near as good as he will be next week.
When he is absolutely blasting out one of the best fills for a song everyone knows, he's not even looking at his kit. This man is in another dimension where vision doesn't matter anymore, it is just reflex, memory, art, style, groove, and talent.

My favorite part of your analysis is your enjoyment and appreciation of what he is doing.
There are so many things I love about this guy. He is unapologetically himself, great sense of humor, excellent showmanship, his ability to make the most of the sounds of his drums with countless techniques. Nothing wrong with having huge drumkits, but I appreciate how he makes the most out of his small kits. I'm not a drummer, but I studied percussion and played percussion as a secondary instrument for about a year at University, and I appreciate knowledgeable drummers reviewing this guy singling some sections that caught my attention and explaining what he is doing and how it works.
Ultimately, his drum covers are there to show the mastery of his skills, to show off a little. If you asked him to cover this without making any changes, that would just not be entertaining to watch. He also mentioned this in a video, he admits to overplaying parts in covers, and he asked his fans to be respectful of the music from his band because and not to expect that type of overplaying in his own band. He understands when to tone it down to let others shine through.

It’s not a cowbell, it’s a Turbo Crasher. That said, agree it’s very impressive
El Estepario is a great showcase to young musicians of why rudiments and fundamentals are important. He consistently uses the same patterns/fills but employs them in such a musical way.
“But you can’t do that in a band.” - my 70 year old dad every time I show him any musician on UA-cam.
El Estapario just released a couple songs from his actual band on his channel. You will see he agrees with your dad. Plays his part in the band solidly, with the occasional amazing g short fill. Nothing like his UA-cam covers.
In Archspire, Vitrified Entity or First Fragment everybody is doing it all the time and it still sounds amazing. Not always easy to wrap my head around what I am hearing but very cool.
Amen to your thoughts on the haters. So tired of people who can’t do shit criticizing people who can.

Kind of new here. Love the breakdowns and explanations Tony. Don't change anything. Jorge said in one of his older videos something along the lines of... If people spent as much time practicing as they do hating, it would be a better place. No shit, why can't people just appreciate what he's doing? Or don't but stay quiet about it. Just because you can comment, doesn't mean you should. Thanks again for the time you spend making these videos, we appreciate it.

So true man. I get so annoyed by people who keep complaining about him "overplaying" and talking about how he should just keep pocket and that's it. Like no shit, he isn't recording for an album. The whole point is to showcase his inhuman ability to play the drums.

I see alot of people get annoyed by the pausing. This always puzzles me, i guess some just want to see funny faces. For me, personally, i click on your videos to hear your analyses. I find them educational, insightful, authentic and therefore refreshing. Granted, at best, i am a frustrated beginning level "musician", so take my $.02 for what its worth. None the less, a subscription to your channel is long overdue..sub'd!

Hey man. Just found you thanks to El EStepario; so, first of all his reach/influence carries further than just his channel. The dude is killing it. Anyway, I wanted to say that out of all of the “react” videos I have seen, your vocabulary and analysis reminds me of a few of the DCI/WGI judges. I really appreciate your attention to both big picture and little picture nuances from technique to composition, and not just “yeah bro this dude is fast!” I am hopeful that other players and performers are attentive and picking up on what you are laying down. All of a sudden, I just.. want to hear a band where EVERYONE plays over the top. Where drumming like this is not only acceptable, it's encouraged. Where the bassist's chops equal in talent and complement the intensity. Where everyone just synergizes and vibes and jams. Where the ultra-shredding, flaming fast guitar isn't the star, but just a piece to a whole.
I can't imagine what kind of music could come from that. I feel like the more talented a musician is, the less ego they have, and everyone supports each other, and everyone plays off each other and melds with each other and, in the end, everyone wins. Including the listener.

@DrumRollTonyReacts I did play a few instruments, but never anywhere near that skillfully. However I'm a huge fan of very virtuosic music, such as Dream Theater, to name only my favorite band. Tasty drum fills or guitar solos are a real treat to my ears!

I kind of used to be a bit of a hater, but seeing the original songs that he's put out with his band made me realize the chops aren't his entire Identity.
With that said, I don't really care about the smoking from an influence perspective -- it's just a bit cringe in an "edgelord" kind of way.
