  • What I love about MG Midgets and Austin Healey Sprites is that they are guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
My old climbing buddy Alex turned up on his motorbike last Saturday and the Midget I'd been working on in the week needed a test run...rude not to take it out. Hadn't intended to make a video or give the Flying Midge a hard workout, but after gently warming her up and passing musta with flying colours, again would have been rude not too.
Only had phones with us so quality not brilliant, but Alex's natural ability with camera angles more than makes up in my opinion.

Looks like you were having fun at those roadabouts. Such fun cars on A and B roads. Certainly makes me smile driving ours! Happy motoring!

Many thanks I've always felt a big grin and enjoying yourself is compulsory in a Sprite or Midget 😎👍

Brilliant! Great video - 60s motoring at its very best - and you red lined it!! Yeah baby!! Can hardly believe you still have your cars John, after all these years. Respect.

I was inspired to get an MG Midget by a dashing young fellow many years ago.
Believe he grew up and moved on to proper cars and boats it seems (bet his Uncle would have been proud).
He also inspired me to ditch the points and fit electronic ignition and look at the extra few miles an hour they give 🤣.
The Moggy went but a 1960 (a great vintage) replacement was picked up one frosty November morning and driven back from Stoke, detouring via King's Lynn, the Woottons (Nursery Lane of course).
Great hearing from you Andy 👍

@@johnnywarnerperfectroad66 Ha Ha! But seriously, it is truly amazing that you still have that car - mighty impressive. I still remember the pottery warehouse where we first got it started!

@@Oceans_Sail LOL I'd forgotten the Mud Larks pottery storing the wreak when I first got it.
Roger flagging me down to sell me some Morris minor seats etc, took the car to the Kings Lynn heritage day show back before covid, I did wonder if I'd bump into Roger tge cars real saviour.

@@johnnywarnerperfectroad66 Yes! I had forgotten the name!!! But I remember it well. Not least because it was quite hard work!!! But I remember how happy you were to get the car going. You even had a little drive around the car park! Well all I can say it doesn’t owe you anything now. Quite the reverse. It has been saved and loved under your ownership. Its a great credit to you and its wonderful to see it still being used and enjoyed.

I always said it had to see France before it dies, I was taking it to Lille in 2020, but it got cancelled for some reason 🤔
So it still has to go.
Next year I think doing route 66 in a 73 Midget in October (that's kinda a run for my Mum she should have had a sports little car, I've realised as I get older I ows my love of driving to Mum and without her my Dad would have forced me to sell the Midget soon after it arrived 🤣)

Lol James possibly their only downside, for me getting in isn't a problem but the older I get the more of an issue getting out is. But not ready to give up yet 😎👍thanks for the comment 👍

@@johnnywarnerperfectroad66 I am 65 and 6’1”. I have a BMW Z3 that I fit in but in my old age I wanted more comfort so I bought a 98 MB SL 500. The trade offs we make for age.

True though consistently other folk just seem to show so much more sense than me. Z3 certainly a lovely car with great lines.
6'1 is around my nephews height he fits the Midget well, but has the audacity to be in his early 30's.
