What's the problem with the dip? Is there a shooter in NBA history better than Curry in terms of volume, difficulty of 3s, and efficiency who does not dip?
@@divine6732 yeah true his game will mature but that doesn't have to be the case as in taking all those shots to lose how much of an excuse is it? As a coach I would rather build a realistic offense it's not just on him.
For people with releases like curry, thumb flicks are just illusions made by our perspective, I personally can relate to this. Thumb flicks are made when the ball gets released, once it is released, my guide hands moves naturally since we are in a constant motion, the movement of your guide hand is slightly feeled, once it moves it moves also your fingers thus creating it kind of an illusion if put into perspective. This only works with releases like curry
Perfect analysis. Trae guide hand is always back when his shooting hand is launching. His shooting hand and guide hand is not together when he follows through
The 2 clips of Steph turning his hips he's either on the move or turning to avoid contact whereas both the no turns are spot up shooting, not really a fair comparison
The shooting form depends on the body type, the location on the court, the time for release, the type of defense, and many other factors. The idea in this video of "giving points" to either shooter is stupid. Curry is the best shooter in the league, and this dude "analyzes" him and gives him points based on his own shooting orthodoxy.
ALL great shooters dip the ball when they have the time and space for it. This guy sounds like an absolute dipshit trying to correct Steph curry on how to shoot a basketball 🙈🙈
Bro what happened to the vids? You were putting out great content that helped everybody! If you can keep putting vids out anytime that would be sick ! Hope everything's well!
Your point about curry shooting with ball in his palm is wrong - if you could see a closeup there would be a small space which is caused through the placement of the thumb in a v with forefinger and comfortable spread of other fingers - it is virtually impossible to be a great shooter if the ball starts in the palm- it would be basically a dead ball without proper rotation. All good shooters rotate their hips counter clockwise to their shooting hand and their feet twist to left for a right hand shooter as they release - this is a natural body movement due to the extension of the arm towards the basket. If you observe both players on the free throw line they both basically set up to the basket with ten toes to basket- this is their natural alignment.
I don't know of one good shooter who hasn't dipped the ball when they do their jump shot cause that's not how people jump but it's not my criteria so ya know. Otherwise I would say as in depth as it is the fact that the point is usually that the player does something consistently would indicate that as a point based on other criteria. Also there's no exact way of doing something or it's wrong so that probably makes something like this more difficult. Example the thumb flick should you no but if Steph Curry has it & is definitively the greatest shooter ever it clearly isn't that important. What matters is consistency while this is about text book form saying don't do this only works if somebody is bad. Example if you're finding a lack of consistency in your shot & notice you do this see if not doing it will help but saying don't it it won't be good is probably false. I do appreciate this video regardless...
Trae is definitely a better passer but can we stop comparing his shooting to Curry? At least for now? They aren’t in the same league. Maybe he will get there one day but he’s not there now. Let’s just appreciate Trae for what he is.
Different jumpshots work for different people, also, what decides the "optimal degrees" of things like how much your legs should bend before you jump to shoot??
How can an "optimal leg bend" be derived? Is femur length relative to height taken into consideration? Seems to be way too many variables to have the 115 degree angle considered "optimal".
Curry says you should NOT let the ball rest in your palm. I think you should research more vids. He doesn’t regularly shoot with the ball resting in his palm.
Thia is nonsense. All this optimal talk does not really matter. It solely depends on the comfort and efficiency of doing the same thing over and over again. Let's just say that you have followed all the "optimal" positions, angle, and method of doing it; can you do better than these guys? They are both playing in NBA as superstars primarily from this somewhat optimal way of shooting.
Bro wtf are you even talking about? Don't try and critique something that works. Id like to see you put everything you think you know about shooting and hooping in general and try and play against them. If all of this needs to be right explain why Dick Barnett's legs kick him in the ass but his jumpers still wet. Kevin Duckworth doesnt even have a guide hand yo. Try to male different kinds of videos g
Traes not efficient so you will see him make changes to his game so how does it work ....and the video isn't meant to teach them it's meant to f and us the information is for us to get better at shooting 🤦
As you can see in the video and in the picture of him in the thumbnail Trae doesn’t have his guide hand touching the ball right before he releases his shot. Therefore if he has a thumb flick it wouldn’t impact his shot nor the rotation of it.
No his guide hand has no effect on his shot because he isn’t using a thumb flick from his guide hand. You can see when he shoots his guide hand isn’t touching the ball when it is released.
@@hoopanalysis6196 so how can we explain the disappearance of his thumb when he shoots. Keep in mind I'm talking of a side view of his off hand( back side the off hand.)
Are we not going to talk about the guide hand elbow. Steph's shooting percentage will always be better than trae's because is guide hand elbow is in. If the guide hand elbow is out, you can't be consistent on shooting the ball straight.
Curry is the best shooter in the NBA and Trae Young will become the best one of his time in the future, so I don’t know a way you could criticise either of them, the shooting form is what the creator of basketball started with and it has stuck, but if they are the best and can make more baskets than people who use the ‘correct’ form then their form has to work more efficiently (well for them at least.) This isn’t saying you should shoot how they do, but instead shoot the easiest way to make baskets, and maybe your form will be thought in the future. That took a while for a comment on a video a year old 😂
I'm not an expert but why does having a thumb flick becomes you a less shooter when it is obvious that steph is a better shooter than trae? Im not a curry fan
Every good shooter in the NBA dips the ball. I wouldn’t count against them for that. Very nice detailed analysis nonetheless

Steph still shoots better
No doubt.

Its okay bro … i think he us trying to cover the major factors which are these mostly. The dip should be there again most do
Coaches that advice players against dipping the ball are straight wrong.
Then your a dumbass 😂💀
There isn’t any right and wrong in this. If you shoot great with a dip, go for it. If not and and you still shoot good, go for it.

Klay vs Steph analysis? I think that would be super cool to see the splash brothers shot form to be analyzed next to each other
yo this is a good channel please carry on with the breakdowns
bruh the dip gives rythm in your shot so i don't take it as a bad aspect but that's just my pov
Facts klay has it
Very underrated channel, you should make a D'Angelo Russell 44 points
I agree. A D'lo breakdown on his breakout season this year would be sweet.
I think the dip is a plus not a negative cause Most shooters dip (personally I can’t shoot without dip)
The hip turn is when your feet are set squared to the rim. And what is "dip"
FFEX_Fresh a dip is when u catch the ball and bring it down then back up like Klay barely dips he jus catches and goes up into his shot
Thank you for clarifying
Ur content is greattt!!!!! Keep it up 👍👍👍👍
Yooo Clean analysis, love this type of content! This channel will get big for sure.

1:23 bro leg bend is also depends on the range and spot and how hot the person is..

Dips sets good preparation. You will see no dips when players are forced to make a shot
Very bad analysis
What’s with this guy and the Cavs? Basically every clip is someone scoring on a Cav.
Cause cavs is one of the easiest to score on lmao
Why is 115° the optimal leg bend?
Also why is 50° the perfect elbow bend?
Oskar because it allows ball space between your legs so your nuts 🥜 don’t get stuck or tangle 💯
so which form is effective and why? will the better form be also more effective? what are the rationale behind the ratings?
This two terrific players are the product of science ..projectile motion way of shooting
Trae has a huge thumb flick on some of his shots, especially from range, but he hides it by basically “unflicking” his thumb
Will you be posting again?
Nah bro curry's shooting form is perfect! And beautiful no cap!
