The first thing I did (when I bought the full sized Capra) was add a bit of brass and installed the softest springs available from Axial for the Capra. Although the included Nitto tires were quite good, I found the Pro-line Mickey Thompson Baja Pro X in G8 comp tires to be truly transformative for the full 1/10th Capra. Your channel is extremely helpful to the vast majority of us RC addicts! Thank you.
I added brass portal boxes to the front, rear link riser, hardcore high clearance links, beadlocks and proline class 0 tsl in predator. Just waiting on that HH brushed motor 😁
I really loved my Losi Mini Rock Crawler and this is the perfect replacement for it. I think you were spot on when you said its easier to find challenging terrain for these smaller rigs. I already sized the wheels on my UTB18 to 1.9s with Pro-line class 0 Krawler t/a tires. The size is good without looking too clownish. I think some suspension work will really help the rig. I'm excited to see what the aftermarket comes up with for these little beasts.
I am pretty interested to see where the upgrades go with this back packable unit. A lot easier to take on a hike with your significant other when she can't see it all the time. Then you can play the I am spending time with you first , crawling second card ....
Well we are excited about the UTB 18. Also will be looking forward to your motors and ESCs. My son and I got them early for Christmas. We are running 1.9 Vanquish wheels with 4.85 JC Concepts tires. Need low speed control and more top speed, we want our cake and eat it to, lol. We are really excited and have fun with these. Want to build them right so being somewhat patient. 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁👍.
My TRX4m does fine on my outdoor course I made for the SCX24. I haven’t tried it on the 1/10 scale course. I’m really liking the smaller rigs. I’ve even considered getting rid of the 10th scale stuff. I might have to pick up a little Capra come spring. I always like your reviews as you tell it like it is .
I love mine I think it’s the best thing axial came out with in 2022. I always wanted something mini but capable. The only thing it’s missing is one of your excellent brushed motors please consider making a brush 380. I have dozens of crawlers all powered by torqumaster & magnum stubby and your servos!!! What I’ve done to mine is added a torqumaster mini esc & lp servo and running the stock motor on a 3s 650 lipo
Yes bring on the aftermarket goods! That is one of the reasons I got one I’ve got 1.9 wheels on mine with metal beadlocks. Definitely needs a esc or just plan brushless esc combo.
A lot of initial criticism about the size and price of this rig but I think the performance is silencing a lot of the cynics! Remember, regardless of scale, this truck fits right into the WRCCA rules for the mini class so, you will be able to enter comps with this rig and that gives you a lot more options. Maybe not the quality of a true comp rig (and it will need a lot of upgrades) but then, a whole lot cheaper. It's a stepping stone to competing in mini comps, for sure. Or just great on the trails! The SCX6 is such a cool vehicle but you nailed it, you definitely need to go looking for a proper course which makes it less versatile. I don't think this rig will have anywhere near the limits that the much bigger rig does.
You're finally testing. I was curious when I saw the video before. How well can you ride rocks? I think the performance is satisfactory for the size. I think. It was an interesting video.
This is a, surprisingly, capable little rig. The size is perfect balance of small but not too small. I recently purchased a Mamba micro x2 & Holmes Revolver V2 combo from your shop and it fits “perfectly” inside this rig, that’s including the external BEC from Castle. I completely agree that the price is questionable but I have to confess, if given the chance, I’d buy another one. Great video as usual John. Merry Christmas to you and your family as well as to the rest of the Holmes Hobbies family! Keep KV’ing up and Gearin’ down!🤘🏻🎄
These look amazing. Top heavy and in need of some upgrades.....like every rtr....... Man that was a super impressive run. There is a crazy amount of aftermarket stuff out there been searching on lcg stuff for a new build and see so much brass and and and for this little beast. Cant wait to see where you take it! And What electronics you design for this thing!!!
Yeah Necroing this video but John did ask for comments on a motor we might want, so here goes but first a related question, the Gen 2 barrager had a 22 turn 390 motor, does the 390 size equal a bit more torque because in theory the magnets are bigger? Or does the choke point of the brush size negate any possible or theoretical torque gains from the slightly longer magnets? Part 2 of the question which motor would be better for crawling a 22 turn 390 can motor or a 37 turn 380 can motor? If 390 size makes a diff then a 390 can maybe 37 or 35 turn. Assuming the heat that the ESC has to deal with isn’t greater cause of the 390 can size.
These little guys are awesome. I have a couple of Exxon tempers and love them. I won’t be getting this untill the price drops. 179. -189. 250. No thanks
I saw your Trx4m video first and this came up after and I watched it had no interest in this I watched it on a Tuesday by Friday both my wife and I had one. This is exactly what I wanted my losi comp crawler to be 10 years ago
You really need to drive the 1/7, I mean 1/10 🤣, Mashigan. The details are great and it drives pretty well as far as handling, but it by far has the worst low-speed control of anything I've ever driven. It desperately needs better electronics. The good thing about the Element, that they did on purpose, is a good amount of SCX10II stuff fits it as well, so there were a bunch of aftermarket parts for it as soon as it came out. lol
I ordered aluminum steering links and overdrive gears from Horizon on 11/07/22. They sent the steering links on 12/17/22, charged me $5.00 more for the order than originally agreed, and have yet to send the overdrive gears. They have also ignored my polite inquiries into my shipments and charges. I suggest getting all upgrades from Injora and other manufactures because Horizon has turned into a theiving, soulless icon of customer neglect.
I buy direct from the people who make the stuff. Like Holmes Hobbies. I've never messed around ordering china garbage from Amazon. TGH has released gears for it.
@@brianellison3525 I got no problem with people who make the stuff usually. I've had only good experiences with Holmes Hobbies as well as Traxxas. But when the cost of your order changed weeks after ordering it, you haven't received the other half of the order, and customer support is close to nonexistent when everyone else is fulfilling orders ahead of schedule I call em' as I see em'.
@@douglaselliott8298 First off, trax ass has their stuff made in china. Second, you said you ordered through a catalog company. I said, order from the manufacturer. Your middle man is the one screwing you. I don't support third party sales. I prefer the little guy get all the money. Be well.

Just built the Dlux Markhor with capra parts and your 380 revolver and crawmaster, thing is silky smooth and crawls like a beast.
I added brass portal boxes to the front, rear link riser, hardcore high clearance links, beadlocks and proline class 0 tsl in predator. Just waiting on that HH brushed motor 😁
This is a rare video of John Laughing at a steering link! lol🤣
I am with you don’t need more speed just love that torque Yep we’re here watching

This little guy is quite interesting! I agree on the price, that's what has put me off so far... That wet noodle was awesome!

Almost grabbed one but decided to go with a TGH Sherpa build instead. Glad I did Wow!!! Impressive chassis.
I love how we just assign arbitrary numbers to scales now 💌

This one is super fun Hello from V&B speed..u hav grate products 👍🏽☃️🎁🎄
Thank you Jordan for this video. could you advise me for a combo on this machine. Thanks, Merry Christmas
They have finally been released in the UK, so I’ve ordered one, this vid made my mind up 👍

Will look for a 40t when you have one.

How noisy is that motor/esc combo? Any tips for the install? I've been pondering that setup, but just haven't pulled the trigger.
Not to be off topic, it looks like you have some weather coming in. That being said, wheel speed is your friend in the snow.

I’ve not seen a bad thing on these yet.. seem like solid rigs
Something higher turn not looking for speed but that slow torque crawl
Hey do you think you will start sellig the crawlmaster mini pre wired with a 380 brushless for this little capra beauty?
I love your video I have a question for you I have the same utb 18 Capra and for some reason when I press the gas it goes backwards. Do you know why?
These little guys are awesome. I have a couple of Exxon tempers and love them. I won’t be getting this untill the price drops.

Right on
I've got a temper into I was contemplating get the actions off that camper for anybody have ideals
If you make an 380 motor/esc kit i would get 1

did axial just reinvent the servo saver!!😆
Ooo, long time ago when they released the Deadbolt.
Cool little rig, I just wished they would take it down to a 24 or up to a 6 haha
All I need is a water resistant brushless motor and my money's your's.
It’s not the same price as the element Enduro and the Capra comes with the battery
good point
I do like the baby Capra. Hope they release it as a kit.
Edit; lol, vanquish links coming?
