I think they directed around his skill in acting. I don't think he's awful, as he's got great comedic timing and has multiple scenes where he pulls off jokes with delivery, but I don't think he's exactly amazing as a VA.

Just the fact that it actually is Mike Tyson carries the comedy in most situations on the show.
He’s just him. Not very emotive but when things get serious, he can sound very scary.
He's got that adult swim style to him. Random, dry, nonsense, but has moments where his dialogue makes perfect sense and adds to a joke.
