I have fiber optics service that runs directly into the Tp-link router and then I used the internet cable to connect it to the Linksys router where the VPN is installed. Do I really need to keep the Tp-link router set up or can I use the Linksys directly with the fiber optics coming in the house without compromising the VPN? FYI: I'm in the Middle East (not sure if that plays a role in suggestions or recommendations)

I have had the linksys router and have been using it for 3 or 4 months with the expressVPN firmware, I am having an issue every 3 or 4 days where my 5GHZ devices will know longer connect to the router until i reboot it. I have tried re-loading the linksys firmware and the re-installing the expressVPN firmware, I have seperated the 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ wi-fi. I have changed the name of the wif-fi. I've sent my logs for the router to ExpressVPN but they havent suggested anything yet that has fixed the issue. As it stands every 3 or 4 days I have to reboot the router to get my 5GHZ devices to connect. I have looked on some other forums and it appears this is a common issue with the Linksys router.

I see neither in the 16 seconds that he blasts through the list. I stand by my allegation: it's not as "step-by-step" as he says it is. For the record, I sucked it up and bought a ExpressVPN subscription. After getting it running, I was appalled at how slow it was, running at about 10-20% of the speed with the VPN running in comparison to without the VPN running (as measured with speedtest.net and selecting different locations around the world). Trying to get on-line help resulted in talking to a bot which was of no help: "go to our friendly debug web page and read it." I took advantage of their 30-day refund no questions asked, unsubscribed, and got a refund. I then returned my fancy/expensive LinkSys router that you need for ExpressVPN and went back to my old router. I've since used NordVPN, which has been smooth as silk. And to my great surprise, with their VPN turned on, my NordVPN speeds actually increased - and dramatically so - with their VPN on. As much as a 30% speed increase! That was also using several locations around the world, in comparison to my stock Comcast feed. My slowest speed is actually when logged in from the USA! Japan and Mexico are fast as hell! My only complaint is that if you log in to a website located in, say, Japan, then the site comes up in Japanese. You learn to first log in from a country that uses your native language, and then switch to a different location. Not sure what this does for your masking intent, but that's the only way to do it. This is a problem with all VPNs, not just NordVPN.

That would have been a good thing to show... since this video I moved and now my internet is in the dumps lol I previously had FTTH and now my new ISP is not very good in my area. I would not expect any additional speeds... I wish ExpressVPN was faster!
Gret tutorial and just what I was looking for. In ch8na and new WRT 3200 ACM arrived today. BUT - DAVID - that rotating gizmo in the upper right for changes every three seconds is a HUGHE distraction. Really+ horrible and would have prevented from watching this if I didn't really need it, Re-evaluate how much you want to annoy and distract your viewers by flashing your name 100 times.
Hi Fletcher. Thanks for the feedback. We use that graphic as a watermark to deter others from stealing our videos without permission. I'm not saying it's the best answer but ever since incorporating it years ago we have seen a substantial decline. I'd say for every 500k+ views we get one comment like this. Definitely open to other options and feedback if you can think of anything.
They have a list of routers on the website that work with the ExpressVPN app for routers... I believe all are WiFi 5, but maybe you can do a manual configuration for WiFi 6 routers. Would be a bit less convenient.

the factory setup is STUPID. its not super simple, its overly complicated, the manual setup option disappears, it directs you to their WEBSITE to setup which is stupid. factory reset does not fix it

How much max speed can we get with this router? I tried with netgear 6700v3 with expressvpn, got around 20-30mbps.

I don't use WiFi. I use ethernet. How does ExpressVPN work with a more secure ethernet ?
If your ethernet is connected to your router that you installed it on you are all set!
