I feel this was made to cash in on the success of the half life remake black mesa
Call of Duty Cold War on next video please ❤️
So I see cyberpunk couldn’t beat this game
XIII got a sequels somewhat like XIII²: Covert Identity, with a re-imaginging of the game as a point-and-click adventure entitled XIII: Lost Identity being these were for mobile
From Wikipedia: "The release of the remake caused an increase in sales of the original game, causing the 2003 game to outsell the remake in the first week of the remake's release in the UK."
Oh that’s actually good in a way, I wonder if we could have a sequel now but probably not unfortunately
@Abhinab Das Well I can suggested to read the comic since It still continue but the XX Conspirancy arc Is over but there a new arc working on
@Digital Fates Oh and the funny bugs and glitches that are on par with Sonic 06.
😂😂😂😂😂
INTELLIGENT STONKS XD
I don't know much about Microid, but, at least in France, they seem to have a bad reputation for hyping people with nostalgia, only to release broken and unfinished remakes. They did this with an Astérix game apparently.
As for the studio, they have offices in Ukraine and Malta. This 'remake' was made by the Maltese part, I think.
as a french dude i will answer that i have no clue about that-

I thought that the remake of Asterix was pretty good, actually

When that timesplitters music kicks in you know it's gonna be a good time full of funny moments.
"objective failed
You failed your objectives" Thanks captain obvious
You should do an updated review since the relaunch update came out a couple of days ago. It is so much better now. It is now a worthy remake. I hope it will redeem itself with others so just maybe we will get a sequel. Cheers.
Honestly, just no. This game is still pretty bad, and XIII did NOT need a remake at all.
Bro you had me laughing so hard about the endless machine gun firing, funny glitches, and bad suicide lmao.
13:20 I appreciate the music from TimeSplitters 2 (:
To say I am disappointed would be an understatement because as a big fan of the original game, I really wanted this remaster to be good. I guess that’s why I didn’t immediately buy the game ( for £44.99 no less) because I wanted to see if it was any good. I must say, consider my hopes shattered.
Edit: Multiplayer was another part of the game that I was looking forward to, as when I was younger, I only ever played XIII’s multiplayer locally on split screen with my dad and cousin. And we had a hella good time. So I was looking forward to hopefully play it online with other people and not just bots. Imagine my disappointment when I learned that it wasn’t going to feature online multiplayer?
I caught a little bit of this during the twitch stream, around the point where you were ziplining across the gorges. You were barely keeping your sanity together, and I don't blame you. What a mess
I love when jarek is in pain xD
you wanna know what's funny?
The original was being sold for $6 on steam when the remake was released
so I just bought that one instead
Even funnier is the original outsold the remake during the remake's release
A VPN is just a internet condom.
The original game is one of my favourite games of all time, i was a fan of the comics, i even liked the straight to tv movies...
But oh my god....
The horror.... The horror
What was the game he was playing in the vpn ad?
Well they do say 13 is an unlucky number
Well now I regret. I bought it, mainly since I never played the original, but it looked cool. It made me want to play it. And tell me about. I bought day one.
Well, thank god I softmod my Wii U. I'll find a copy of XIII for the Gamecube. Wish me luck.
YOU ARE DEFINITELY NOT GETTING CHEAPER GAMES ON BRAZIL, DON'T CONNECT YOUR VPN HERE TO BUY CHEAP GAMES.

This game was made in 2020!?
The original game, I got with my GameCube.. I didn’t even want a GameCube at all but my parents bought it off of a neighbour, who’s kid was a little shit bag.. so they sold his console.
But anyways, I went in expecting a shitty game on a kids toy of a console.. within 5 mins of gameplay, I ate my words 😂 what an awesome game this was!
From its cell shaded graphics to its sometimes challenging gameplay.
Good memory’s!
This game makes Yandere Simulator look like a polished game in comparison. Also, I feel like I treated Warcraft 3 Reforged too harshly.

Fun fact there is a mod that completely fixes the ai in aliens colonial marines because there was a spelling error in the code that made them act like that.
The mod still didn't fix the game.
@@rayyanali4471 you can't fix something made by draining money and resources from the developers.
Thanks Randy.
It didn’t fix the ai completely.
Ah yes, the infamous teather
No, it didn't. It restored the ability for the Xenomorphs to climb walls dynamically instead of only in scripted sequences.
I have no clue how they fundamentally misunderstood the original game's art style THAT badly. It looks SO flat compared to the original
Exactly.
Say they’ll fix the bugs, glitches and whatnot, this will still be an inferior version to the original as it lacks the style, tone and spirit of the classic XIII.
I mean the biggest selling point of the original was exactly that the whole game looked like a comic book, this one is nowhere near looking even similar to it.
@@Lajos_Kelemen its still very broken
Some say that to this day, jarek still hears the machinegun effect looping even in his sleep
Until he stopped thinking
The original XIII is a comic. This, on the other hand, Is potato jesus.
I just wish that the original XIII would have a sequel and this remake to work. Of course................... it doesn't. :(

@@dutchvanderlinde2002 But I wish though... :(

@@dutchvanderlinde2002 Yeah, hopefully, this reaction will get the developer's attention.
The splinter cell conviction pose on the cover makes me laugh
Amazing observation
They even have a watch on the same wrist.
One part of me would like to think that's the publisher making a nod to the fact Ubisoft originally made the XIII game, but nah it's more likely they just wanted to make people think Ubisoft had some involvement in this remake. Other than the fact they lifted the audio from the 2003 original (complete with David Duchovny and Adam West's VA still intact), Ubisoft can actually say in this case "okay look I know we've made our share of glitchy messes in the past, but for once you can't blame this shit on us."
I'd honestly much rather be playing that. Because while that has its own problems, it at least works and had its fun moments.
Exactly my thoughts as soon as I saw the cover back when they announced the remake lol.
The worst part... When you said "40 bucks"
forty dolla!
If it was an actually good remake I'd say that'd be a fine price, but for a game that looks to be a downgrade from the 2003 version in every way? No thanks. Like I know some people say Mario 3D All-Stars is overpriced at $60 but at least there you get 3 games for that price (and they've since ironed out the few technical issues Sunshine had) that are faithfully emulated on a handheld in HD. XIII is just one game, and it's been so poorly remade. Add the fact the 2003 version is only $6 on Steam and GOG and yeah it's clear which one is the better "bang for your buck" version.
You can get the original or Steam for 2 bucks right now
Everyone who worked on this game should be slapped for disrespecting the original.
@David Large couldn’t have said it better
Well I bet it was a problem with management, rushed, unpolished and unfinished. The developers were probably too inexperienced for this kind of thing but management was like "I want this in 4 months! Get on with it!" *whips them into submission*
Especially the manager of playmagic Giuseppe grogliano hes the reason the game failed look at matt mcmuscles wha happund on xiii
I close the vid but i can still here the looped machine gun.
Pandemic is a valid excuse but look at Bungie they made and released a big expansion for destiny with minimal bugs and patched up the complains about balancing within a week.
Another Example is ID software with Ancient Gods Part 1. That game was made completely within the pandemic and it seemingly has minimal bugs.
This game's devs should have postponed it. They were not able to polish this. This looks like a fucking alpha not even a beta.
Beyond light is *Chef kiss*
Valid criticism
But those are big companies so...
@@seriousscamman582 ya they are bigger companies but they were also making way bigger and way more complicated games. If these devs weren't able to do it..they should have postponed.
A valid excuse to delay a game, sure.
Not a valid excuse to ask 40$ and give people a completely broken messy game, despite knowing how broken it was.
On a different topic, the DLC for Doom eternal STILL won’t give me my Makyr skin that comes with the expansion. I’m sure it’s bugged on PS4
Developers: It’s only half way done though.
Also developers: But rent is due”
@Rahat Zaman it's disaster
to quote main comment:
"Devs: here's out prototype alpha project, can we get funds for further developement?
Publisher: release nao
Devs: wat"
and the rest is history... RNG damage was stupid in this game and Normal+ difficulty face you with frequent ammo shortage because of that.
@Rahat Zaman actual answer is back then the budgets were smaller so the investment was smaller, meaning less shareholder bullshit, loans and demand for massive short term profit.
Basically late stage capitalism has ruined game dev too
I noticed that the original XIII was put on sale when the remake was released. In the UK it as £2 as opposed to £40 for the remake 😂
It also outsold the remake in the UK in the first week LOL
The original is one of my favourite FPS games. Shame that they had to screw up this version.
Now that you mention it, seeing you analyze the original XIII would be fun.
Imagine make a game that makes games like Huntdown the Freeman,Alien Colonial Marines looks like a good game.
These guys sure managed to accomplish it.
Mission Failure... Accomplished!
It almost makes Call of Juarez: The Cartel look like a decent game, but just barely.
Nah HDTF is still way worse (for all it represents as well as what it is). Honestly I feel bad for the devs trying to make a decent project at crap wages and being rushed and/or poorly managed.
GTA The Trilogy DE
@@lambda-m1676 At least that has some genuine QoL improvements such as the weapon wheel from GTA V.
I couldn’t imagine a game with worse aiming than Halo 5... until I watched this game. A game where you struggle to hit a stationary enemy with a shotgun from 20’ away.
Authentic Xcom gun play
All the things that you mentioned I already heard in other reviews, I'm not saying that you copied (you literally said that you went blind) but what im saying is that this game is so bad and buggy that everyone talks about the same, I'm kinda sad that they massacred one of my favorite games ever...
Nice video Jarek, I really love watching your reviews!
Literally choked on my coffee laughing at the machine gun glitch 😅
"Why is she a man suddenly?" I ask myself that every day
Call of Juarez the cartel is a masterpiece compared to this
Ouch !
Even if they fix every single bug, they can't patch in a change in artstyle. If it's not cel-shaded, what's the point? If it doesn't LOOK like a comic book, what's the point in the comic-book panels and the comic book sound effects?
Anybody looking to buy the classic version should know there is an easy widescreen fix on the steam workshop page of it
Highly suggest using that
I nearly pre-ordered this game, but decided to wait for reviews. Dodged a bullet for sure!
P.R. Statement: "Covid happened so we forgot how to code.
I'm only half-way through the video and I'm just in complete awe... Even if it launched with no bugs, this would be a complete disaster! The original comic was French! How could a French publisher allow a cult classic like this face plant this hard?! How can the original Quake 3 engine blow this out of the water?!
Why couldn't they just give development of this to Ubisoft and instead of a random ukrainian company?
Hell, how would the original creators of XIII react if they saw this?
*Ukrainian. The Frogs just published this.
It would still be bad if Ubisoft developed it, maybe not as much.
@@dutchplanderlinde4845 it would had been great to see Ubisoft remake XIII on one of their engines such as SnowDrop or the Far Cry engine..... and not some ukrainian mobile game company who's games use the Unity engine.

XIII was the best game I played on my childhood 🤣 BUT THISSSSS HOLY SHIT
One thing must be know to the people who never played (I recommend) or hear about the original XIII is that nobody, NOBODY, wants a remake. No.
What we Want is a sequel. We all ready know the plot with want to know what happen next in a very good game that keep the original nostalgia and fun.
Also I recommend the comic.
In the words of Gordon Ramsay-"It's Raw!!! "
By Civvie11.
The enemies are disastrous. It ruined the feeling and atmosphere.
sucks to see that they messed up a game that i used to love as a kid so much. really hurts.
The multiplayer mode "The Hunt" was also in the GC version. One of the good things about that version. Incidentally, that's the version I played as a teenager. Have good memories of playing XIII with my brother and our friend. Aaaah, that poor, poor frame rate. How we weren't even bothered by it, I can hardly understand it today.
(Sad sigh) Oh well at least we still have the original XIII.
I remember being blown away by the original when it first came out. I've never seen anything like it before. Now it somehow looks even more like a PS2 game than the original.
This game just released its major rework patch today so it might be worth a revisit
Also are u gonna cover Halo 4 on PC?
*jarek getting ready to go to bed* "what is that?... I CAN STILL HEAR THE MACHINEGUN!"
From a marketing perspective it makes no sense to remaster a cult classic under the radar gem that few people knew about anyway.
Some say that Jarek still hears the machine gun to this day.
3:47 Anti-Karen Masker 👌
I love you for the mask statement
Yet i still see foolish people calling the virus a joke despite all the deaths. The human species is truly the dumbest creature to ever exist.
Tl;Dr, let's wait for the patch and play the original in the mean time if you love the game/books.
Luckily, I haven't bought this game. I love the books, I read them until they quite literally broke. Seeing this makes me incredibly sad, I was hoping this game would be worth it.
Better idea. Play the original and pay absolutely no mind to this.
I remember being a little kid seeing XIII's PC stuff on a shelf, I didn't know that it was an FPS at the time (my feeble mind thought it was an point and click adventure game) but I wasn't old enough to get it.
Hunt Down The Bugs
I don't know... I played this game at a friends ps4 pro.
The game felt like an realy bad source mod. Framerate was..."okay" but the screen tearing was abysmal.
But there is one good thing... This made me buy the original for 2,97€ on steam.
I'm trying to get a refund for this trash since the day of release and they are trying to tell me the problem could be my ps4 smh.
So disappointed, my nostalgia really wanted me to buy this game... Well thanks for taking the hit for us dude!
There is a difference between cutscenes and scenes that need to be cut. Thank you XIII Remake for teaching me this.
What is worse that i was playing the original when this was relesed. So when i knew about the remake and saw the state, i was happy that i didn't buy this
Leave it to the French to mess things up this monumentally.
The French? The devs are Ukrainian
I remember playing this on the GameCube it was really fun
You and Gman destroyed this Remake. Keep it up guys, I still love the original XIII and both of you are so right
1 week ago I watched GmanLives reviewed this worst game.
I've read some big comment about these developers from the guy, who was involved in Metro: Exodus. So at the time 4A Games wanted to outsource VR-game in Metro universe to them or some VR-project. Spoiler, it died due to their incompetence, as they were quite lazy in doing the work. No good would come from these developers)
Maybe the machine gun had a really really hi cap drum mag. Maybe a gng 400000 rounder?
Okay HDTF vs XIII (2020) is kinda cool.
The Machine gun sound is there to remind you Rainbow Six Vegas exist
Also the fact that it made it through other stages and even the FUCKING main menu had me dead.
About a week ago I came across an article saying that they are remastering this remaster. I loved the original so I truly hope it works but I'm gonna still laugh my ass off if it doesn't
The whole thing feels like it was made by chinese software pirates on their NES.
I purchased this game twice on Playstation 4.....both games crashed and freezes so I wasn't able to fully complete game
I will be playing the PS2 version
Correct me if I’m wrong but the original XIII was a pc game before a console game right? Why the hell would they prioritize controller over keyboard and mouse?
Hunt down the Freeman is amazing compared to the remake
when I first saw this game, before it was even released, I immediatly didnt like it due to the game just looking like a generic fps with a cell shading filter, and not the good shit from the original. Though, I didnt expect it to get THIS bad
Remaking XIII is pointless. The original game still holds up really well, even after all these years. Mostly because it has unique style, great music and overally very interesting story. Remaking something like that is a battle that you lost even before it begins.
That's why i don't like remake idea. I have few retro machine: it's way better playing the original one. There are only few exceptions.
The original XIII is a little gem.
The "remake" doesn't even have any cut content from the original, like dogs for example, that you can LITTERALLY see one in the video cutscene for Kellownee Lake.
Here after getting XIII on GOG... for free.
Always wanted to play XIII. Was so close to buying this remake so I'm glad I'm not
xiii remake or afro samurai 2
both got removed from steam
XIII is still available.
I pre ordered this game for the Switch but as soon as I saw all the reviews I got my money back straight away if its bad on the PC well the switch version has no nope.
As an owner of a Switch and pc like you, I agree.
An example. Rico is fun but I jusr can't play it on Switch.
Steam however.......
@@sgtsnokeem1139 I got rico on the switch as well it was OK for a while but have not played it for ages now.
@@huwjones6644 with a decent frame rate and a mouse it's not bad. But yeah I wound up trading mine in to knock the price of LA Noire and Black Future 88 physicals down.
Ion Fury though, got on GOG (pc) and Switch. Fun on both.
how the hell does this game run so bad the graphics arent that good i like the lighting thats about it the frame drops are unacceptable
There's a game in this bug
here when the original xiii got announced being free on gog
Even if the remake didn’t have these billions bugs you’re showing, it would still be terrible just because the comics art style is completely lost and the voicing and audio are terrible.
The glitches are fucking hysterical.
I almost want to try it just to experience all these glitches for myself! 😆
