Mary Peltola is so refreshing. A grounded human being.
Grounded? Naive is a better term. She is very much a goody two shoes. McConnell will tell her where she can stick her accommodating nice person disposition. She is jumping into the boxing ring that is Congress, not Central Park’s flower exhibit pathway. She better learn how to stick a jab and throw a left hook into the kidneys, otherwise the GOP will mop the floor with her.
Nothing "refreshing" about her. She seems to say what everyone wants to hear " Oh life is hard", truth is some people have harder livrs than others for many reasons whichre mainly due to upbringing and the chances and opportunities you get as a kid, it may be an inconvenient truth, but it is the truth.
She's weak and I don't like her already. Not answering questions by deflecting with actual lazy "commonality". There's no commonality when you can't even acknowledge who won an election and she won't even address that. How do you unite with people who can't acknowledge who won in 2020 and fly Nazi and Confederate flags inside our Capitol? GTFOH. She sounds like a mistake, like Manchin and Sinema.
@@rw3915 on the other hand she might just be a savvy campaigner whose strategy is to appeal the moderates who are sick of all the nastiness and partisanship. Once in office she may be less of a goody two shoes.
With our divisive politics, the base of each party is a given. it's the politicians who get the middle vote that win.

We should all go to the Alaska voting system of Ranked Order Voting. Ranked Order Voting will eliminate the extremist and the blind dualism that is plaguing the USA

I'm not US-American but this is the first time I thought "this person should be the president of the USA". Very inspiring. Not rising to the bait of who has suffered more than others but instead turning the unthoughtful remark into a bridge and doing so in a natural, authentic and un-calculated way. Truly amazing.

I'm American and I agree. Granted this is the first I've seen her talk, personally, and there's a lot more I'd want to know about her. But I found myself, so far, thinking and feeling the same way as you.

It's the fascist driven by irrational hate that fear her, not the other way around. I'm sure she's aware of the increased risk of violence being a public figure or really just a vocal woman. Not standing up for what's right, despite the risk, would continue to increase the suffering for everyone and continue endangering all of us.

Mary is the kind of person the country needs in leadership. As she said, we should stop with the “my group suffered most” mentality and understand that we all need to see ourselves as Americans first. We suffer, or prosper, together if we think beyond ourselves.

Even as a right-winger I am trully inspired by Peltola's words, this message of unity is what we need more, I'm glad she is there to help all sides, unlike most politicians who have just attacked each other, if this unity message remains until November I wouldn't care about Alaska remaining blue, because good leadership deserves to remain.
