Both C&C Generals and CoH have special abilities on their units and allow infantry to garrison buildings. The building system is pretty much the same as early C&C games.

I also want to say that you are incredibly right about the nostalgia aspect. I tend to replay older games that I both missed at the time and games I used to play to see how they held up. There are only a handful I can say have held up anywhere near what they are perceived to be. People have nice of memories of them, which is great. They also, likely, pushed some boundry back in the day. Either in terms of presentation, storytelling or gameplay. But with the advancement of technology and the gaming landscape/genre there is so many more things that can be done. I dont want someone to just rehash a game in a modern engine with modern graphics like Barkhan is doing. Im still interested in it, because I would like to see Dune II updated, but because of licensing that will probably never happen. Older RTS games also have big flaws. Empire Earth has a terrible AI that cheats to absurd levels, Dawn of War has a pretty bad unit control system where you cannot manage units well in battle aside from constantly clicking the re supply squad button, World in Conflict had the COD of campaigns in terms of production values, but a rather poor strategic/gameplay element as tanks is the only thing you really needed to complete scenarios. As for games that dont have significant flaws, how many C&C, Supreme Commander, Warcraft, Starcraft, AOE, etc. clones do we need? You can still play all of them and all of their clones. We know where to get them, we know where to get mods/patches for them. I mean I do like Armies of Exigo, it has a nice campaign and a nice mature style, but its weaker than the game it took inspiration from. Im not going to pay a lot of money for another clone if at all as I already have these. So yes, we need something different. Barkhan likely isnt going to be more than a nostalgia trip, which is fine. There is room for that. But I want to see the next C&C generals, the next Warcaft 3 the next Age of Empires in terms of how they push a new standard and expectations for the genre.
Hi and thank you kindly for sharing your thoughts on this subject. I have so many of these games on my to play list, especially the old ones, and I think I will find it a similar experience to yours once I get to it. We need to judge new games far less and play the older games more to understand why. Hopefully these developers and others like them will do new ideas in their latest games and push the genre forward instead of copy pasting the past.
Agreed. I still play modded C&C Generals but it would be amazing to see an updated version with, say, better pathing, which in my opinion is where the game shows its age, and other more modern features.

@@perafilozof For sure ! The only complaint I had about it was the range of artilleries which was close to nothing but they did a lot of damage... Making the unit very confusing ! What's the use of a close range heavy damage? I mean, take any pack of units and it will be the same damage wise. Artilleries on the other hand allows for different strategies at long range without even getting close to the other player, you can wreck him if you play well. Also, there could be some walls because it's really missing !
The range of the artillery is actually quite good but you have to have scouts or use special abilities of units or commander powers to remove the fog of war and attack at max range.
This game needs corporate attention and a lot of funding. It is impressive at this current stage but I don't think two devs will be able to achieve nearly enough.

Bit niche, but I hope we get to see certain infantry units decked out in more near future stuff, let the imagination go wild again like it did back in the 2000s and early 2010s. Like the E3 presentation of Ghost Recon Future Soldier or the fellas in Black Ops 2. You know, exoskeletons, micro rocket launchers, wearing bodysuits. A couple mods in CnC Generals did that to varying degrees. It’s gotten pretty bland seeing yet another special forces unit looking like a bunch of lumberjacks because “it’s what’s practical.” (Also, I’m looking forward to playing as the Euros.)
Hi, and thank you for the comment. The EDU heavy infantry already has exoskeletons and large grenade launchers if I am no mistaken. And the Spetsnaz unit can go stealth to plant a bomb as you can see in the video. So I think we are half way to what you wanted :)

Hmm I play the demo. The veh and air power are good but MAN...Infantry need Nod style to punch anything.....IFV cant even kill anything without support. Even when it say its effective against infantry
Hi and thank you for sharing your thoughts and impressions. It is a combined arms modern combat in fact. IFVs are just transports for heavy infantry which is the real firepower in that duo. Each infantry type has its best use and if used in a big bunch as you can see during this video it can be really strong.
Money = harvesters and the RA2 way of collecting from areas with gold or gems, or like tiberium sun farming blue or green tiberium. This is basic basic basic things that will set me off if not in place.
To be Honest EA didnt fail, Generals is Great, C&C 3, Red alert 3 and their expansions are amazing. However for some weird reason they 100% destroyed themselves with C&C4 and mobile games, so they failed but at the same time they did not, a paradox, more like they no longer have the creativity and capacity to imitate their own past creations.
I totally get your point. I look at it from the final nails in the coffin with C&C being turned from a very loved franchise to a dead end. So as long as EA has the license and lets it root I consider them failing at doing anything with it.
@@perafilozof EA is a very weird company, reminds me of Konami, letting good titles and licenses go to waste because of mobile sales, lazyness and aggressive micro-transactions. These types of games that are basically clones of old C&C titles and their respective mods, if polished will thrive, they fill the gap in todays few RTS non space games (although i love those too).
We shall see if it makes it to release. Most RTS nowadays either get cancelled, broken on launch, or just gets abandoned in early access. RTS is a dying genre which sucks because command and conquer is still king and that game is ancient.

Hi and thank you for sharing your thoughts about it. I am sorry you don't like the system of flags and passive income. Have you ever played DoW or CoH?
Calling this game AAA is a huge exaggeration. Unfortunately, you lose credibility. There are countless terms that can be used to describe this game. But not tripe A 😄
I beg to differ, because the production quality of this indie game is no par with almost any AAA RTS people adore from 2000-2010. As for the functionality and features like cinematics, live action characters, entire story telling campaigns and such, no, this game isn't at the same AAA quality... yet. But that is exactly where publishing into Early Access and gaining funds to create these features comes in. So I would say it is a matter of time and money.
We can philosophize for a long time, but I would have chosen a different title. AAA are simply large studios with publishers and professionalism at all levels. Graphics, audio, image, film. For example, you can't make a pixel game and say AAA because that would have been great 30 years ago. But I wish the game all the best and l like your videos. I just found the headline too blatant@@perafilozof
Sigh... thumbnails and titles like this are just something I am forced by what people click on other content creators channels. I personally can't stand disingenuous titles and thumbnails and have resisted giving in even a little for a full decade. But people have kept on clicking, and if I don't want to be left out in the cold by the UA-cam's algorithm for impressions I have to make my content similar to what my viewers are already watching. I even have a whole page of my analytics which shows me exactly what thumbnails and titles my viewers watched previously so I can see what they click on. And it is much, much worse than anything I have put up so far.
I didn't mean to criticize you. I like your channel and like your videos. It's about this one title. I didn't mean any harm. Otherwise, I'm always happy to see something new from you.☺ keep it up.@@perafilozof

@@perafilozof It's been a short while but EDU, followed closely by Carpathia. The former for it's infantry play(healers and armoured grenade launcher inf) and the latter for general feel and artillery Zeppelins! I do like the sound effects and voice lines overall too.
Ah I see. Thank you for sharing!
Does this version run well? In my last try, it was rather rough for my PC.

The demo was so amazing ! Can't wait to get more of Global Conflagration. Even though I wasn't expecting much from this game, I totally fell for it !
That is fantastic to hear, hope you will enjoy the next playtest as much!
@@perafilozof Maybe they changed that because there were not a single long range unit when I tried =/ Well, good news ! :D

Hi, I am glad you think so and thank you kindly for the feedback and praise. Hope you will join the next playtest, follow the game on Steam to get notified.
this skirmish concept is an old school system, tell them instead of that to create a dynamic campaign , where you have are invading a country and you have to achieve take one sector at a time while having to complete various mission objectives and unlock new units in the process which you can use them during your next mission
There will be an SP campaign in Early Access so hopefully you will enjoy that as well.
like that's no "old school" There's a number of games that've done that before
Why couldn't we have gotten something like this for CnC 4 instead of the series ending at Kane's Wrath.
Because EA was and is run by profit hungry idiots. Good thing we have such indie developers to support with our money!
@@perafilozof EA kills everything good about every studio they buy, I don't know if it happens after two or three games or if it just takes about a decade, but it is a consistent result.

The most important question:
Are there nukes?
There are commander powers like artillery strike and cruise missile. And probably nuke in the future.
I hope they add a feature that "not paint entire units / buildings in one colour" - to make it look more like a wargame and less like a kids game. I like in C&C generals that there are some colourboxes on each model/unit - but those airplanes look horrible in a solid red or blue colour.
Hi and thanks for sharing your thoughts on this game with us. That is a valid point, but you can't really stop others from expressing their individuality if the game allows it. Shogun 2 in multiplayer allowed the same but it never was a problem to all the players. Hope it won't be here too.

You see that is a very interesting thing. My previous half a dozen videos about this game had normal titles and didn't get many views. I write this title and suddenly the video has double, triple views of those previous ones. While I totally understand your point, the facts speak otherwise.
It’s gotten pretty bland seeing yet another special forces unit looking like a bunch of lumberjacks because “it’s what’s practical.”

Can PC RTS games fully support controllers and also be sold on GOG please?
It's a genre that would do well evolving to be playable to console gamers and PC gamers that prefer to use controllers,
especially with *handheld* Gaming PCs growing in popularity.
