For anyone who is wondering, tax effects are applied before 3-ball. If someone is attempting to cast a 1 mana spell, say Sol Ring, into s Sphere or Resistance and a 3-ball, it would cost 3 total, not 4, as the 1 mana +1 tax mana is still less than 3, so it becomes 3. TL;DR, Trinisphere's tax is applied last
The trigger to open the attraction goes on top of spells and resolves before the spell does. Myra can "imprint" spells in your upkeep before you roll, giving you a higher chance to hit spells/more spells.
12:30 and 15:00 I'm pretty sure Anna had to pay 1 for the spells exiled with Myra here because of Sphere of Resistance? In the first instance that didn't matter as she had enough mana to pay for it, but later she would've had to pay 2 mana for Opt and Delayed Blast Fireball so she wouldn't have enough mana anymore to pay for Part the Waterveil. Also I just noticed she couldn't have cast both Opt and Delayed Blast Fireball there anyways because Rule of Law was still on the battlefield.
Myra is absolutely my favorite deck, to the point where two of my friends pinged me with this video today to make sure I saw it. A trick you can do with Myra is hold priority on your draw step and imprint a spell on an attraction, so you have a chance to roll it that turn. At 14:10, Anna could have had a chance to Time Warp again that turn (though she didn't roll the right number). Loved seeing Delayed Blast Fireball get there! I've had that in my deck for ages but have never had it go off like that.
Yes exactly the comment I was about to post. I also have a Myra deck that goes between high power edh and cedh between its iterations and it frustrated me to see Myra not being used as she could !
Anna is so sweet! I’ve played Jinnie Fay against her Jinnie Fay while she was cosplaying as Jinnie Fay at command fest Bellevue last year! This was such a fun match to watch!
I'm curious to know what Nate tutored because if he had the emergence zone in hand then he could've searched up All Will Be One and won off of the triggers on Anna's turn. I have a more casual Ob Nixilis deck and I want to get All Will Be One at all times to end the game.
For future reference, you roll for attactions during your precombat main phase. This means Myra the Magnificent can imprint spells during your draw step after you draw but before you roll for attractions instead of after (At 12:48 Anna imprints Opt after attraction rolls, which is wrong because she could miss the drop tower and roll to visit balloon stand) Draw step not upkeep because you might draw an instant you want to imprint.
Sooth comes from Proto-Germanic *santhaz which is reflected in Old English as sōth, meaning “truth; true, actual, real”. So ‘soothsaying’ means truthsaying which is what a soothsayer does, they speak the truth about the future (supposedly😅). The same construction exists in Dutch: ‘waarzegger’ which means fortuneteller. Literally “waar” (true) + “zegger” (sayer).
Yooo I love Yennet, she's one of my favorite commanders, cool to see her in a cedh pod! Those attractions were fucking crazy, really well played by Anna- like you said, super patient Great video as always guys, thank you!
Soothe means to calm someone/thingor to quell irritation/agitation and the 'th'is pronounced the same way that you would promounce it in the words 'the, they, or them'. Soothesaying was a practice where people would basically tell someone's fortune through some form of scam.
It’s really funny to me that attractions are legal because it seems like the joke was that they were overly confusing and overly designed. And then they went “eh, I guess play them in commander and legacy” LOL
Good question, but no. 707.12. An effect that instructs a player to cast a copy of an object (and not just copy a spell) follows the rules for casting spells, except that **the copy is created in the same zone the object is in** and then cast while another spell or ability is resolving. Casting a copy of an object follows steps 601.2a-h of rule 601, “Casting Spells,” and then the copy becomes cast. Once cast, the copy is a spell on the stack, and just like any other spell it can resolve or be countered.
Can your next podcast talk about the different deck archetypes in cedh like blue farm, turbo naus, control and such and talk about how they Play differently from each other and what core cards are in the different deck types
More cEDH decks should run attractions. The Most Dangerous Gamer is a pretty reasonable midrange threat, Deadbeat Attendant is a nice 2-drop “cantrip” creature (it opens an attraction instead of drawing a card). The attractions deck as a whole is a nice little value engine, or with Myra it’s a combo piece.
First time seeing a queen kayla deck! Ive built a couple version of her and i think dermotaxi should be in the list! If you have VBR, dermotaxi and kiki jiki in hand you win the game off of 1 activation!
Hello there. I'm the one who submitted the Queen Kayla deck for the episode today. Took a look at Dermotaxi and it is something I'll be looking at as I further test and tune the deck going forward.
I'm pretty sure you can imprint with Myra during your upkeep after you untap before your first main phase when you roll to visit attractions, missed some opportunities there.
I have a friend with an Attraction deck. It runs that giant 5 color scarecrow as the commander and let me tell you- it can be nastyyyyy. You end up making a bunch of scarecrows and destroy a lot of permanents. It's kinda gross!
The problem i see with attractions is they have the "unearth" problem. They're basically tokens where once they leave the battlefield they're effectively exiled for the rest of the game. So if your deck is reliant on certain attractions or retaining attractions in play it will fail naturally as the attractions are removed from play AND they count as Artifacts. Once you've gone through your "attractions" deck that's it, you have no access to anymore attractions for the rest of the game.
That’s a good point. The trick is to not worry about what the attractions do, and focus on them as basically isochron septers here. Mass artifact removal isn’t a huge worry in cEDH, though you can wind up feeding some serious docksides.
At 8:25 ish when Anna bounces the trinisphere I'd have bounced the dockside and sacced a land to copy, being down to 2 lands sucks but its still a 9 or so mana swing again.
@@thelordethan3682she had a cheap sorcery in her hand she wanted to play, but after a good draw after the bounce she figured just casting her commander was better to get the attractions going. I’m not talking about any formats capacity to “handle” the cards. They should never have been legal in legacy formats. It was all a push to get commander players to buy more unfinity to boost sales instead of the spirit in the Un sets. So I have no interest in playing against cards that should not exist in the format
@@memebot69k31 I mean, isn’t that kind of arbitrary ? Where do we draw the line at what “should” be in commander ? I agree that stickers at least are weird af, but we already have universes beyond stuff legal in eternal formats, why not Unfinity cards ?
You'd be surprised how many commanders from Unfinity have legs in a cedh pod. Great showing, Anna
Agreed! I have an Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop cedh deck built that… does things sometimes?
I imagine more of them have legs than not, unless there's a snake or slug or something.
magar of the magic strings is also good

Cost increases, Cost Decreases, Trinisphere check, then Pay. Affinity can’t bypass Trinisphere, but Improvise can.
