Flashback to a few days ago 🙂 hospital room tour! I always find it interesting to see what other hospital rooms look like, so here’s a little tour for you 🙂
You guys should have seen my hospital room in Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was a private 5 star room, right down to electric window blind shutters, a bar fridge, microwave sink, crockery cultery and glasses, a lounge/single bed for other half, naturally a great water closet. Being on the top floor, the view over Kowloon, Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island, was amazing, especially at night with the lights and laser show on and around the habour. It was their VIP room that I had for five days. Amazing. The room was large enough for four beds. When I rang the bell, three to four nurses would come running in. All patient food was ordered through their cafeteria and charged to your bill. Fortunately my travel insurance was paying the tab because following that I was flown home Business Class on the latest flat beds with a private nurse looking after me all the way. Unfortunately, my husband still had to fly economy. I had a distal femur fracture unset, just stablised in a brace. It took us 24 hour plus to fly and drive home, complete wih one stopover. Arriving home was a completely different ballgame. Our local hospital which I had to go trough being after hours to access my Private Hospital, wasn't convinced of my fracture having been diagnosed by a Hong Kong orthopaedic, let alone that I had flown back without surgery. Until they could find a bed in the emergency department, I was told to take a seat in the waiting area. They weren't even going to assist me with using the bathroom until I became emotionally vocal with the triage nurse. I simply couldn't weightbear and hadn't been the bathroom for 9 hours and it was my only bathroom break the entire trip. Needless to say I didn't have much fluid intake the entire trip.
I can't wait to use this app. My health is on an incline. So my husband doesn't go in to the room with me to the Drs. But my Brain fog doesn't help me remember what we did and didn't talk about. Love from Oklahoma
Glad you aren’t in the hospital again!! Oh and darn I wish that app existed in 2011 when my dad was diagnosed with Multiple myeloma. It was so hard to remember everything that we talked about with the oncologist. It would have made it way easier. Anyway he’s in a better place since 2012. I miss my dad. :(
I agree, I would have loved it for my Mom. She had COPD and emphysema. I was the one taking her to doctor visits and would update my sister. That would have been great to share with her.
I was very recently diagnosed with an extremely rare disease. I agree about a hospital room. It is what you make of of it. The orange wall is happy and bright. Love you guys! XO
I just downloaded the Abridge app... I need all the help I can get at dr's appointments! Plus, with an appointment out of state coming up next week, I'll be alone, so this still come in handy💜
Hi Mary and Peter! I also have spent many days in the hospital along side of my husband who lost his fight to cancer at 36 last year. After 2 stem cell transplants and many rounds of inpatient chemo I also learned how to help make the hospital room alittle more comfortable for both of us. I had gotten my fair share of lovely chairs to sleep in next to him. I had bought a twin egg crate at walmart and it fit super nice on the chairs! Made a world of difference. I rolled it up during the day and it fit nice in a grocery tote bag😁
Oh yeah those chairs should be in the e.r. too! I had a big private room years ago on my first baby's birth. The bathroom was big and my room had a huge vanity etc. They had a really old giant oak you could look out the window and see, very peaceful and that was in Houston.-sandy
oh man, that app is genius!! I had back surgery (spinal fusion) when I was 19 and they gave me the choice to either recover at Methodist Hospital in Houston or Texas Children's Hospital, which was just across the street. To this day, I totally regret not choosing TCH! I could have used those bright colors and fun visitors for the week that I spent there! You had a nice room, Mary! Those windowsills are perfect.
When I was inpatient it was in Parkland, New Hampshire. The staff there were really nice (minus the doctor..) and I felt welcome. I was only there overnight for what they thought was a stroke but it was thankfully just a complex migraine (although the complex migraines I get are AWFUL) I had a nice sizey room in the ICU.
Continued prayers my friends. I definitely need to download ABRIDGE. With my short-term memory, complicated health, seeing my Specialists very frequently, and not always able to have my Mom/Advocate and POA this would be extremely helpful. Thank you so much! Love and hugs to you all from Florida!
Thank you for sharing the app, where you can record your doctors visit. I have a pre op appointment on July 11th and then hip surgery on July 24th. So recording what the doctor says will be very helpful. Thanks Peter and Mary 👍 😀
My mom says that app is great for parents of young kids who just get overwhelmed with info like what the med dosing is, when the follow up appointments are and such data, and how even Dr staff could use it I'm report writing after a visit.
So I have a observation to say... I have been watching the older blogs to say I have seen all of the Frey journey, and I am blown away by how mature you both are now, I love how fun and adventurous you both are, but equally your earlier blogs are so cool to compare and contrast to you both now. Like back in the friends house with the squishy foods to now, where you both share a Chipotle burrito bowl... so cool, I love it so much, and love you both, you are a gift from God, thank you for being so awesome
I am going to download that app so when I go to my doctor’s I can use it. Thank you for the information and I’m glad you’re home and the surgery is over. I love y’all’s positive attitude’s and smiles❤️🙏🥰😇🤗‼️
😱😱😱 im not even done with the video but I have to tell you just how excited I am that you shared this new app! I had no idea about anything like this that existed and that’s not for lack of trying. I have a TBI- brain injury and I forget things very easily, I have both long term and short term memory loss! My friends call me the real life Dory haha 😆 it’s not that bad but it does hinder my daily life! Going to doctors appointments and anything similar really is stressful because of forgetting. Someone always has to be with me so they can get all the info for me. I am so excited to try this and have a saved area for all that info. I take pictures and videos a lot because my memory is so bad and if I didn’t I wouldn’t even remember haha 😆 I go back and watch some of my own vlogs and forgot that it happened haha 😆 anyways! Thank you!!!
Duddde this app would actually be so helpful for me thank you guys! All of my health issues are related to my brain so my memory is horrible, and being on my own I’m constantly forgetting things. Definitely going to download it! I hope you’re healing well!
I have been looking for an app like this as I’m just switching from the children’s hospital to adult care. I am now taking more responsibility on my appointments. I have an appointment coming so I will have to give this app a try. Thank you guys.
That is a really incredible app. I wish they had that 2 years ago when I was dealing with my cancer diagnosis. I am single and would go to the appointments all alone so it was hard to remember everything. It felt like I was getting a medical education by fire hose at times. So much information to learn.
We use Hoyer lifts where I work and we have to sit in one (using a sling) and let someone else operate it for our yearly update training. It's kind of scary but fun.
Thank you for the room tours! I always enjoy seeing life somewhere else I love when you show window views. I really liked when Peter would fly the drone in the dead of winter and the city looked abandoned and beautifully snowy! With being in the pediatric hospital, do they group the adult patients together or are you mixed in within the pediatric patients? Love you both!!
@@thefreylife just adore you both and Oliver. As I am in the UK I watch you before bed, I am a truck driver and start very early so I am in bed early. Keep doing what your doing I love it much love ♥️
Whenever I see you title a video 'hospital room tour' it makes me nostalgic because the first ever Frey Life video I watched was a hospital room tour (wow can't believe that was 4 years ago already!) and I am so thankful I found you guys and that you've become a solid part of my daily routine :)
OMG that’s an amazing app!!!!!! I don’t have severe medical issues but there are some situations that I should record like (Job interviews) so I remember what was said. Casuse my mind will a lot of the time forget like 75% of the conversation casue I get overwhelmed kinda with all the information that was given to me in such a short period of time.
Love your channel, have watched it for a couple of years now. So glad you are home now, and not in the hospital. I know you bring your own pillow and blanket with you for each stay. Where do you get the blankets you use? I know they are light weight and look very comfortable.Could you ever do this as part of your merchandise? I have bought several special T-shirts and love them all😊
E.Cahill thanks for being a part of our Frey Life family for so long! And that's a great idea! Also, thanks for the support via our online store - I'm so glad you love the shirts! :)
The Frey Life Hi Peter and Mary, thank you for your response💕 Your channel has been such an inspiration to me and my daughter. We don’t have CF, but my daughter is battling Chronic Lyme Disease. She will be going to Germany in September for hyperthermia treatment. Fortunately we live in Massachusetts and she has the best doctors and this treatment will give her the best chance of getting her life back, she is 31 years old. I want one of your gauze blankets to comfort her for the three weeks she will be there. I think I found where you get them from. I will be going with her for this difficult treatment. We will wear our “I Choose Joy” t-shirts💚💚💚💚💚
Downloading that app now! Thank you!!! My daughter is a high risk pregnancy (first baby) and it’s all very overwhelming. Glad you’re out of the hospital still 💕
@@heathersadongei3048 have you joined the SFN FB group? Lots of help there. It's hard coping with SFN; don't like the drugs so I mostly use topicals and cope.😵
Kristy Luce Yes. I think I’m in all the groups! Lol! Been DX for 4 years now. Trying a new pain patch out. Still working 40 hours a week and the more natural pain management is not working. Though I’m still employing it because why not. I also do physical therapy & started on yoga. 😊
Looks like a kind of isolation room where they get clean and sometimes gowned to go in the room and again when they leave the room. That doesn't mean that they have you on precautions, it may be the best or last room they had for you. 😀😀👋
Thank you for this vid. and this .app. oh my, this would have been handy when I was having the treatment for Breast cancer. So confusing. And yes I was by myself for appointments. Oh, the sunshine in there is awesome. Thanks for always including us viewers.
speaking of going to the hospital, i know you go to alot of doctors appointment and hospital trips, how do you deal with all the bills and do you have a special kind of insurance. (without going into detail of costs and stuff) When I was in the hospital for a month it was a huge bill and took us a long time to pay it off even after good insurance. We rarely go to the doctors now and haven't been in the hospital since we had our kids.
What a wonderful app! Wouldn't it have been great to have this when you did your 5 day transplant evaluation at Duke? I wonder if most doctors will be open to have their consultations taped. Sure beats taking notes--can never seem to write fast enough to get all the information.
If it's too much info you can ask for a protocol! I do that with important pre-OP or therapy-change talks. It has never been a problem. I think they prefer patients and parents of patients that are informed to people who get it wrong and say at the next control "the doctor told me so" ... What I do, too, is I send a fax explaining how I remember an information and ask if I remember correctly. If it's right the doctor will just write okay and fax it back. If it's wrong she'll call or write the correct info and fax that back. Kind regards!
@@Its_me--Boo_Radley Depends on time and personality of doctor. With a few you get a complete break down written by their secretary after dictation. The other extreme are some illegible handwritten abbreviations. Most are in between and okay. I keep them in a file to have a documentation of our medical journey and to go back to. (Example: How many weeks and what dosage did we take last time to taper off cortisone.) Kind regards!
I would take a single hospital room if it was the size of a broom closet over the rooms we have in Serbia. I was hospitalised a fair number of times, the smallest number of patients I was with was two (me being the third in the room) and the biggest 7! In many of the hospitals there is only two bathrooms per floor (one male one female) and there are a fair number of patients on a single floor. When I started in a different hospital I was so happy and grateful that there is a bathroom per room, so even if there's 3-6 patients in a room it's better than one per 30. Edit: Also as far as I know there is no way the hospital would let a spouse or a parent sleep in the room and be there for more than the designated time for visits. It gets pretty lonely (even with a lot of patients in the room). Thank God for Skype 😅
Them ceiling lifts can be pretty fun. I worked in home health care for many years. Can't no more. ..we used those ceiling lifts on people for transfers wheelchair to bed to showerchair to bed back to wheelchair. Or some afternoon when there is extra down time and there is 2 people and you know your client well. Haha slow rides. Lol giggling client thought it was the best.
Are they any legal issues that can come up with recordings? Did you have to ask the doctor if you could do a recording? Here in Germany undisclosed unauthorized recordings are not allowed. How did it work for you?
You just have to ask. Mostly it's okay. I asked to video record how they put on special orthopedic contraptions on my parent's leg and my son's foot. As long as I showed no face it was okay. It really helped me to remember how to put these things on. Kind regards from another European!
Hi Jodie, thanks for your support. Some good news -- Abridge is now in Australia! 🇦🇺 We'd love for you to give it a whirl and tell us what you think! If you need to contact us directly for any reason, please reach out to support@abridge.com. Thanks!
Omg this is fantastic news. I’m so happy as this will help me so much. I have downloaded it to my iPad, but can’t seem to download it to my android phone. Will I be able to do this in the future?
@@jodiemorgan6809 I'm so glad to hear it! Yes -- Android should be on its way. We set the app to go live, but I think the Play Store is still reviewing it. Hopefully it will go live within the next 24 hours. We'd love to hear your feedback! :)
Thank you so much. I'll keep an eye out. I just sent you guys an email regarding this topic so please ignore it. This app is amazing and thank you so much for creating it. Have a great day. 😊
Wen I read the title I had a Wee feeling of dread. But so glad it was just a chance to time travel. glad ur both well. Thanks for the room tour. It’s always interesting to see how hospital rooms are different in other countries. Very rarely in an NHS hospital do they have ceiling track hoists. I have Spina Bifida and we need to use hoists every day and in hospitals I’ve been in in the UK, they only have portable ones. I can tell you even after a life time of needing to be hoisted i still find it’s a horrible experience. I hate to feel out of control. That app seems like a great idea. But it isn’t available in my area. I hope it is soon. Sending you all loads of hugs and love from me over here in England. 💙💪🏻🇬🇧💜
I have neurofibromatosis and I'm always seen at children's hospitals too! It seems like if it's a chronic illness that was diagnosed in early childhood you just stay at the children's hospital for life 🤷
I know in the past some doctors would not let anyone record them, maybe they feared lawsuits. It’s nice to use this app if doctors are ok with it. It’s very hard to remember everything they say.
Most do not get private rooms. Not sure what you are referring to. Private rooms are more expensive and depending upon the diagnosis insurance will not pay for them.
I needed that 2 weeks ago. My husband and I remember my dr saying she wanted to scan while we were waiting for a test to come back . She said no to wait until the test was back when I called because I hadn’t heard from scheduling. I have the app now thanks to sweet Peter
I have heart defects and always have to go to the pediatric cardiologist. It always makes me laugh to go to the children's hospital because of the decor and all the cartoons
Thank you for being there with me on my bad days too. Today I’ve made sourdough Challah and it’s a propitious time to ask G-d for healing when you separate and bless the little Challah portion that is burned or disposed of respectfully, so I had another opportunity to ask G-d to help you and my other online friends xxxxxxxxxx

speaking of going to the hospital, i know you go to alot of doctors appointment and hospital trips, how do you deal with all the bills and do you have a special kind of insurance. (without going into detail of costs and stuff) When I was in the hospital for a month it was a huge bill and took us a long time to pay it off even after good insurance. We rarely go to the doctors now and haven't been in the hospital since we had our kids.
I like hospital room tours! Thank you for sharing!
That new app is a great idea!!! Thanks for sharing!!
@@susanne5803 Interesting. What exactly do you receive when you get a protocol?
@@susanne5803 You have a great system!
@@thefreylife Thank you! 🤗
(Example: How many weeks and what dosage did we take last time to taper off cortisone.)
Kind regards!

Marija Ristic oh wow! Thanks for sharing part of your experience with us! That would totally change the dynamic of hospital stays!
Janine Schindler what a fun way to add laughter to the patients lives if there's some extra time!
@@thefreylife Ya we did have fun to
Hoyer lifts are portable. It is a ceiling lift that is in the hospital room.
Hey guys! I haven't told you but iLOVE LOVE LOVE your new intro
Love you guys keep up the good work
i love you two. you never cease to amaze me.
That apt sounds great. It maybe only available in select countries. It isn't available in Australia :(
Also not in Germany. :(
Love to see you back Mary with happy face love you both. God bless you.
Phew! The title had me worried, thanks for clearing that up real quick 😅
I have autism and that app sounds amazing
I enjoyed the room tour..❤💜
Kelly I'm so glad! :)
I grew up in Mass, spent a lot of time at the Children's Hospital in Boston...
Unfortunately that Abridge medical appointment app is country-specific. It's not available in Australia.
Neither in some European country. Probably data protection laws.
Wow that's so strange. All that's needed to get around data protection law is consent
I could have used that app when I had to deal with my mom and dad's health issues
fun fact: in german we call the toilet klo because of the word water closet (wasserklosett)
gnubaum that's so interesting!
@@thefreylife we say WC (sounds as way say) in the Netherlands, also because of water closet.
Unfortunately the App is not available in Australia 🇦🇺 but it’s a fantastic idea and I would have definitely used it.
Ajay W I'm so glad we could all time travel together! :)
omg that would be cool for my john he never rembers what his DRs say .it would help me so i can have the dr ,s visit on hand.
Thanks for telling me about the app I downloaded it and I am going to use it for my Dr's appts
Monica Albertson Yay! I hope it's super helpful for you!
@@thefreylife I think that it will I'll use it tomorrow for my Dr's appt. It will help me to remember what each off my 4 Dr's tell me.
Of course we stick around when your videos are in one space. It's not about the places, usually, it's about the company ❤
❤️❤️❤️We “stick around” for the 3 of you...NOT your surroundings! ❤️❤️❤️
I know you get your own room because of your CF but in the UK 🇬🇧 we just mainly share an open bay with six beds with just curtains between beds.
That’s so cute!!! Haha why do you end up with the children’s hospital?
@@kalexis6484 because I was born with the condition. It's the norm for people with birth defects to continue being seen by pediatric doctors.
Executive rooms. I work in walter reed. The president's hospital. He has his own room. But executive rooms always look nice. For like high ups.
gizzelle gese Oh wow!
Just because presidents go there it is not the presidents. It is a military hospital . They are many that have had to use their services.
@@eileenmcdonald3162 its literally called the presidents hospital by alot of people. And yes we do help alot of wounded worriers were part of the 3 largest military hospital.
Was that fancy room at Northwestern? Their new rooms are gorgeous!! I was in ICU (unfortunately), and talk about a suite! 😊I hope you’re healing & resting Mary, love & prayers 💛🙏
PS: I know you get a ton of mail/comments! My Uncle is a RRT, and worked with CF patients for over 23 years. I talked to him about your journey, and he offered to answer any questions regarding transplant information.
Your hospital rooms are way better than the little side room you get here in the UK
This is cool. Hey the @The Frey Life I love your videos! Marry is a fighter.

Wish the app was available in the U.K. 🇬🇧 :(
yeah just tried looking in the UK app store on my iphone and can't get it. It would be really handy for me as I don't usually have anyone available to attend appointments with me.
I wish I could get it as well 😭
It’s Beckii Boo Oh no! Sorry to hear it's not available in the UK!
I got to try out that lift in nursing school.

Water closet, you can tell your on the east cost. I live in Utah and a lot of people would have no clue what that is.
I so wanted to download this App but I live in the UK 🇬🇧 and unfortunately this app doesn’t work in the UK 🇬🇧. So frustrating as I attend at least 25 appointments every 3-6 months, so this app would have been perfect for me. Please let me know if there are any apps available in the uk 🇬🇧 that I can download. Yay!!! So glad to try this app thank you abridge!!!!🥰
cool app but its sadly incompatible with my phone :(
Does the doctor know that they are being recorded?✌🤔 #davesandersstepdaughter 🐞
Most doctors have no problem with you recording the meeting if you ask!
I always ask first.
Those are VIP rooms!! Although the hospital will never admit that they exist! 🤫
You scared me soo much!! I glad you’re ok but don’t do that to me anymore heheheh
