(Repost- had to delete and re edit for copyright claim 😛) Nearing the end of an Era- it can be sad, but my goal is to focus on soaking up all the memories made and anticipate the new memories to come. But I’ll definitely be shedding a few tears as the time comes closer. And so I painted 🙂

I really love how outwardly appreciative you are towards one another. It’s also touching that Peter is so proud of Mary, and that he tells her. I think even though people may feel that way towards a spouse, it’s not always vocalized. It’s just nice to see.

To detach the paper, you need a ruler and something sharp (like a very very sharp knife or a cutter)! First you want to cut a bit of the side of the paper where it's attached to the block, just enough so you can slip the ruler between your illustration and the rest of the block. The ruler has to be clean and flat or it will leave marks on the next page (I have made that mistake before haha) Once you get the ruler under the paper, you can use it to lift the paper a little bit and then cut the glue with your cutting tool around the rest of the sheet :) Using a ruler and stretching the glue makes it way easier because if you just cut the sides while the paper is still stuck, you risk cutting the paper itself and damaging it! (Again, I've done that too :p ) I have never found any other way to safely detach my paper without damaging the illustration or the sheet underneath and so far it's been working great for me but it requires patience :p
I hope that helps and I'm a bit late of the vlogs so I hope I'm not bothering you with something that has been answer in the most recent one :(
    Anyway have a nice day!

we have such similar tastes in art supplies mary! Windsor & Newton is a favorite of mine for watercolors, and while i don't use that specific brand of paper i do love my cold pressed paper. its amazing how excited one can get when they find the perfect art materials for them! Art's been a big part of how i stay sane during hospital stays. In fact, my oldest brother got me the paper and the brushes i love so much during one of my stays 3 years ago. It's nice to have that joyful reminder in the midst of what was so hard.

I am caring for my mother who had a bad fall and broke her arm. We had dinner early and went through the process of getting her ready for bed. Then we realized it was only 6pm! She went to bed at 7:30. I sympathize with feeling ready for bed ridiculously early.

Can’t go wrong with Windsor and Newton Paints. I have that same little sketch / travel pallette and also a large pallette that I fill with paint from tubes...I also use the same paper as you. It’s expensive, but worth it. I use both cold press and hot press, depending on the project i’m working on...I was an art major in college waaaay back in 1981....and just this last weekend found some old paintings I had done in art classes ....was neat to find them...I was surprised to remember so much detail about what was going on in my life at that time, just by looking at those old paintings...

I’m sure you have figured it out already, but to get the sheet of paper off your watercolor block, take a pallette knife (or if you don’t have one, you may be able to use a letter opener or a bitter knife from the kitchen, and slip it in between the sheets, and run it around the edges of the block. It’s easy once you have done it a few times....I love using water color blocks....so much easier than having to tape down your paper im order to keep it flat when using lots of water for a wash...and no stretching your paper, like you have to do if you buy large, individual sheets of paper. Love your painting!

You may already know about these Mary but you can get watercolour pencil crayons! They are sooo cool, you just do your drawing and then go over it with water after and they look exactly like a painting! Aside from the depression and anxiety that I mentioned in an earlier post I also have a disability called Spina Bifida and I use to take my pencil crayon set to those loooonnnng clinic days to doodle. It's pretty easy to travel with. Might be something to look into if you haven't already, I think you can get them at Michaels! I hope you're feeling loads better after your surgery, one day at a time! Sending you lots of healing thoughts from Canada!

Has anyone told you how to remove your painting? It's easy, you just need an exacto cutter. You will see along one side it is not sealed... slide the blade in there and just run it around the other 3 sides. Arches is good paper. You can iron it with your clothes iron later to make it nice and smooth again in case it is a bit wavy.

These blocks of paper usually have an unglued corner and you can insert something flat not so sharp (letter opener or back of a kitchen knife) to run it around the border to get of the first page without breaking the others.

Peter is an amazing partner . Mary you’re a Light, but tonight I’m shining a light on Peter because he’s also a light. Just realized all that he is and all that he does .

Warm greetings from a fellow painter with a variety of health issues! I find a lot of ideas in your videos for dealing with my overall low energy, so thanks for sharing! Is that one of these watercolour pads with only one "loose" corner? If so, I use those a lot and cut the arches out with an ordinary bread knife (I just carefully approach the loose corner, put the knife tip under and start "sawing" along the edge). I would totally put the church painting into the online shop!

The painting of the church looks so good. Its 100% better then anything I can do. What kind of church do you go to? I'm curious.

To get the painting out of the book you can use a razor, sharp knife, or press a ruler down hard and it will tear straight
