In this case ‘Broken Arrow’ is a military term declaring that ‘Current sector is, or is about to be, overrun by enemy forces, send ANY and ALL available Air and/or Artillery ordinances on my position regardless of friendly fire risk’ it’s not danger-close to your position, it’s ON your position.
There’s a bit of cut dialogue where you’re using a javelin and 50 cal to cover the Washington Monument where the longer you took, you would hear over the radio their situation get progressively worse including more and more civilians screaming in horror

Such calls can also call onto tank units who have range and elevation on you position that they can lob HE shells down onto spotted targets, tho such eventual calls are expected to be rare.

You're mostly right about broken arrow. It can mean nuclear munitions will be sent or just a bunch of MOAB munitions. Most of the time it deliberately means friendly and Innocents will be sacrificed in the process. It takes a LONG time for approval for a fire mission as such. It's also named a lot in movies, and Vietnam it was rampant.

I think it’s something of a “last resort” order, and thankfully I don’t think any situation after Ia Drang Valley has been so bad that it had to be called for
The new Modern Warfare 3 better have the war between Russia and USA after the No Russian of MW2022, or everyone will hate it. I think what everyone loves about the old MW2 was seeing the carnage on American Soil, and just how real and harrowing it felt. Would be cool if they showed a full world war and fighting happening in other countries too like England.

It’s all well and good to have MW1 (the reboot) start us off with a smaller threat, that being Al-Qatala and the Russian general guy (i forgot his name), but when MW22 dropped I was expecting a bigger threat on par with OG MW2, but instead we got terrorists and *drumroll* Narcos, while also pulling the exact same betrayal, but without any of the tension. We knew no one would die, that would mean losing out on operator skins and marketing potential. I’m sure it won’t happen, but I want the new MW3 to go balls to the walls crazy. I want action, raised stakes, and actual character deaths. Hopefully IW and the gajillion other studios that work on COD nowadays can pull off something amazing like ye olden days.

Not exactly bomb your own, but bring a SHIT load of munitions to support those troops. Only ever been called once or twice in Army history. (See: the landing at LZ X-ray Vietnam)

Playing the DC missions in this game hits kinda hard after having been to DC IRL and recognizing places in the missions that I hadn't before.
