Let’s Go back to the basics and set up a grow out bin. Step-by-step instructions. For European nightcrawlers go to my website TheGardenAndWormLady.com
You are rockin it with your videos. I have noticed the suggestion of the molasses water fattens up the worms. Also, they are encouraged to produce more. Thanks for all of the videos. They are informative.
Thank you ☺️ yes molasses water drives them crazy they love it. But remember no preservatives in it so I don’t only last about 2 or 3 days in your spray bottle.
Cool experiment feeding them for a few weeks to see how much weight they put on!! I'm also excite to see how the everything mix does over time and to see if one species becomes dominant! Great video!!🪱🪱🪱
Great job showing how to setup a worm bin. I do like using worm chow, it definitely helps to fatten up the worms and if fortified with extra minerals it is pretty complete feeding option for healthy worms.
If you mix red with the Earth worms in a container inside your house to earth worms will probably not survive. They need different kind of bedding, such as dirt instead of the shredded paper. Etc
@@robinham2796 never with an earthworm. I’ve had mixes in the past of red wigglers with European nightcrawlers, and African nightcrawlers and Louisiana swamp worms, I don’t have any blues and never with earth worms
Nice Vid. I've been doing well with my new bins by using a thick plastic shopping bag to cover the top. I used to use newspaper or egg cartons. The worms seem very happy with it and it seems to keep the fruit flies 99% at bay. I am curious about whether burlap would be better. Might have to try that. Do you get free burlap from some sort of feed bags or something? have a good day!
When I run out of bubble wrap I use Walmart bags😂 The burlap is nice because they eat it but you have to put the plastic over it so it can stay moist. No buy the burlap in rolls, I do sell it 12 x 18 but I think I’m going to sell it in more quantities so people can cut it up. I’ll just have to charge shipping because honestly the shipping is what kills all worm farmers.
If you mix reds with Europeans will they "cross" or only stay pure breds? I've honestly never considered mixing them before. Would be nice to have some fishing worms though.
Is store bought Black Cow aged? Or should it age a while after you put it in a bin and let it age for a while before you put the worm in it ? If you need to let it age a while before you put in the worms, how long should you let the new bin age ? Thanks
I always pre-compost it for about a week before I put the worms in just to be on the safe side. I know a warm farmer in the deep south that uses it in all his warm beds, and he always pre-compost it for a week before adding the worms so I do the same and I’ve been doing that for years . Now there are other brands that I have tried, but I always pre-compost anyway .
@@TheGardenAndWormLady I live in the deep south also, I live in L. A. (Lower Alabama). Years ago when I have worms, I always used horse manure. But, nobody has horses around here anymore. We have had a very mild winter. It's in the seventies here today. I'm starting another worm bed of EURO'S for fishing. Thanks for your advice. I love your videos, they have been so helpful. Have a GREAT DAY!!!!
I do like your videos, but this one was confusing. Looks like you're removing breeder worms, so aren't you setting up a breeder bin, leaving behind a grow out bin?
You remove adult breeders from a giant tub like that to set them up for breeding in a smaller space. Having less worms in the smaller space with less padding encourage him to multiply faster
Alpaca manure is fine fresh, It's classed as a "cool" manure. My worms love it.
I look forward to your videos every week! Thanks!
Aw!! Thank you I’ve been putting more videos up because I asked everyone if they’d like that and everyone said yes😄
Excellent video. Love the content!

😂
@@Vermicompost I had to go there Patrick. Some one is always saying 1st. 🤣
@@AJsGreenTopics That's what made it so funny!!! I always see those comments, then saw you say 1st worm farmer and I about died laughing!!!🤣😂
Nice job Vee 🪱💓🪱

Absolutely 😊
Very helpful! ✅
Warm water…. Do you use it straight from the tap? Do you worry about chlorine? Thanks for what you do!
We have a sophisticated water system in the entire house.
are mites bad in your worm beds with a lot of moisture
Not really but if they get an abundance, I use the diatomaceous first trick, always use the food grade kind
Awesome! Can I mix reds with earthworms?

I see.
Thank you for clarifying
Is this method applicable to Eisenia andrei as well?
Yes absolutely

@@TheGardenAndWormLady Yes, shipping kills everyone - except Amazon it seems. I enjoy your vids, keep up the quality discussion!

These different type of worms don’t breed with each other they only breed with their own species.

Waiting to see the results of the red wigglers bin as well as the mixed bin.
Heyy! I love your channel. How many worm would you say you originally put in a breeder bin? And how many when you split the bin?
500 to 1000 worms per square foot, that’s the breeder norm.
You can split it up in half or thirds. It’s really what you feel you want to do.
can you already fat enough the african night crawlers? This worms get so huge, awesome ladies!!!
I love the content of your videos but can you please get a tripod as I find them so difficult to watch
I have one but often forget to use it
Where can I get your worms at
