NamTae's condition holding the group back and after he left, Seungyoon said that they have a hard time on wht they will do next. So, I think thats also the reason why they've been on a hiatus for too long. Bit it all ends well. Thanks to Seungyoon who prod. RR.
They had creative conflicts, Taeyon wanted rock/ballad style the rest was more Carefree summer/pop style, so they couldn't produce as much music, and the group wasn't really stable. Yoon said it on a interview, and you can see it on WIN, after he left the others had more freedom to do their style you can see now that they produce many songs with a consistent style.
Omg y’all chill out just cause they halted as a group doesn’t mean they were in the dungeon mino went on SMTM, yoom did some acting, Jinu did some modeling and hoony and Namtae did commercials plus over all there hiatuses there was a solo promotion for atleast 2 of the 4 members
@Lightningmisa mans r u ok though winner dominated they need to branch out and do other things to make the individual members stand out...mino is obviously the most well known member and brings in the most revenue for yg and he’s also the member that has the most solo promotion...if in the start winner makes a comeback once a year for the first 3 and in the middle having solo and just chill time it makes more sense buisness wise your still getting music ATLEAST once a year and after Tae left they be getting lots of comebacks
Exo lost 3 members but still became one of the biggest kpop groups of today which is super impressive. I admire their hard work and wish them all the best
No disrespect to anyone but Namtae leaving WINNER was a blessing in disguise. The group, especially Yoon, was pushed to venture into trying othe genres that's why Really Really was born. They might be bonded by contracts, but after what happened, they had become closer to each other and you can see it through their interaction. I just wish YG will promote them properly since they are legit huge in S.Korea. P.s. guys, this is just my opinion and what I feel as an Inner Circle. Namtae was my bias that time and was devastated when he left. But I focused my attention and energy to support the remaining members. And still here for WINNER. I wish Namtae the best.
Yes i agree! Even tho i love namtae’s voice (especially his falsetto) and think his voice is perfect with winner but i feel the same way as u. (sorry for my bad english)
Are Winner actually big in Korea or did it all go away after their rookie years? Like are they big now? Cause I don't see them getting much recognition from int. fans and Idk about Korea.
@@ItsJaeilTime they’re not that big anymore infact yg boy groups aren’t doing as well as they use (and they use to do the best out of other company bgs). And i would say they’re the least popular yg group internationally (out of the 2nd and 3rd gen yg groups). I would say they were veryyy popular in korea during their prime ❤️.
@@akuaboatmaa2572 I actually checked them out and their songs still chart VERY high+they get music show wins frequently. WINNER could have achieved much more only if YG didn't put them on hiatus for almost 2 years right after their debut🙄 They were already popular because of Superstar K, K-pop Star, yet yg did dirty to them and Yes, they are Monster Rookie and they'll continue to break records💙💙💙💙
Same with iKon. iKon destroyed the charts with Love Scenario, and YG just randomly decided to ship them off to promote in Japan and killed all of their momentum in South Korea.
@@rattanaktorbut remember that blackpink is THE ONLY kpop group that have worked with that strategy, they are the only group as of now that was not affected by not having comebacks but was actually the opposite and it could have to do with the fact that they targeted the american audience right after debut so the general public of america was the one interested and they don't care bcs of a year with no music as that is faster than the average, or do you not remember that blackpink started to get fans inside corea relatively recently? on the other hand ikon and winner has one of the strongest fanbases in japan which was what yg was aiming at at the time
@@MyLife_99z No not recently. VAV actually debuted with 6 members and Zehan (a former member) was later added to the lineup. But Xiao and Zehan left the group in 2016 and Gyeol left January 2017. Because of that they added 3 new members to the group in 2017: Lou, Ayno and Ziu. Hope this can help you. 😃
Actually, even before Yookyung left Apink, Apink was already successful in their rookie year. They swept the rookie year awards, maintained their popularity. even though they took a long hiatus when Yookyung left, their popularity was still there.
I really feel the disrespect when it said "Apink only got famous when Yookyung left" They are charting in music charts since debut unlike other successful groups out there who only got physical release success
They even got their first music shows win when yookyung was still there. It's just apink thing that they're releasing a bop after their hiatus until now
EXO is a different case here they already were big even before debut, as new group they already had a huge fandom and success, with Wolf and Growl they skyrocketed even further, did exodus of member effect EXO later on again NO they started out on top and remained there and still is top leaders of 3rd gen

Girls Day, KARA, and EXID first came to mind. APink already successful in Korea since debut so losing 1 member didn't change their popularity that much. I know this because I've been following Kpop really closely since their debut.
Some people should know (non EXO-LS) that EXO has it main fanbase in CHINA . SM mainly promoted EXO in China but he treated his Chinese artists unfairly . It could've affected EXO as 3 of it's Chinese members left one after one . So saying that EXO was already successful is not fully right.
Apink lose yookyung but still she is in touch with all of the members. Yookyung said that she was offerred to another group for her to debut but she refuse because it is not apink anymore. A Cube and and Yookyung's dad have an argue and I think it is also one of the reason why she left. A Cube just hide the fact because it may cause trouble to the group.
The first groups that came into my mind were Stray Kids and The Boyz because after Woojin left Stray Kids, they gained more popularity and when Hwall left The Boyz, they gained more popularity :(
Honestly Winner's EXIT:E was not a failure. They still top the chart. Baby Baby and Sentimental were a very much well known in SoKor. In fact, an unpromoted song, Pricked, really top the chart. The thing was that, they only got one win and that's consider as a failer by the kpop community at that time. It also called as a 'failure' because people thought that it should be as huge as their debut since they won a lot. All and all, Taehyun and Winner are both doing good. Stay successful and cheerful my lads. 💕
Yap, it just after namtae left, they got much bigger internationaly, the international recognition they get is bigger after really really. Their recognition in SK already big enough, if not, they wouldn't get roty in 2014. Not to mention seungyoon and seunghoon who already famous even before they joined YG.
I feel really bad for the ex-members. They never saw the reason they were in the group. They left too early, and when they find out their former members are now more sucessful when they were there, it must be very painful. It's like a bittersweet thing.
Yes they can. The future of Kpop. They work really hard until now I know they'll continue this in the future also. They're super strong in physical and mentally. I believe in them ✊
STRAYKIDS they faces many ups and down during their pre-debut til they debut but they stand strong and achieve their goal together... And now we can see where they are now...positivity,dedication,devotion and determination brought them where they are!!!
well point here is EXO was a huge success right out of the bat as ot12 no one said otherwise it’s just that they became more successful as ot9 they got internationally recognised as ot9
@@maiavitale8458 yes and the point of the video was to emphasize on groups that gained fame after losing members. So I don't see why EXO would be there? And mind you, it says successful and EXO broke a 22 year old draught of physical sales by becoming million sellers. So they were successful always. Luhan was in fact the most popular member
True, even without former members they had so much struggles and shit, I feel sorry for them( but thankfully they're still strong and will have a comeback soon)))
Super junior has a strong fanbase domestically in Korea since the early years of career around when they released U in 2006. Also their international fanbase is strong. So that's what benefitted them and still have the support even if they had lineup changes after that due to members leaving in controversies or have temporary changes when each member went to complete their military service. And of course, IMO each of their song releases are pretty unique in their concepts and good. SM also allow the members to promote the group in different ways like MCing, Acting, subunits such as KRY with the strong vocals, or by just being funny (SM can't control SJ). So I think they have a lot of advantages compared to other groups in growing their popularity. Im glad they are still strong as a group and they release songs for their fans
In the case of Winner I think they had a before and after Taehyung, with him they were more of an indie band and without him they were an idol group, personally I think that in both facets Winner was successful. Even now I keep listening to their first songs and I became a fan of Taehyun's band.
The first one come to my mind is Stray Kids. I thinks its for the best for both party, honestly. Stray Kids got their fame as they deserved, meanwhile Kim Woojin has more freedom to explore his vocal ability (I hope he didnt song Ballad only, he should try R&B too) as a soloist. Best of luck to Stray Kids and Kim Woojin! 👍🏻
Some groups became popular after the departion of a member(s) but I wouldn't necessarily say that/those member(s) terminating their contract caused the group's success
NOT BECAUSE YOOKYUNG LEFT. Apink was popular since debut even pre-debut because they have their own variety show before debut. They won Rookie of the Year 2011 and first win thropy from music chart with MY MY which is Yookyung still with them.
the way tvxq literally didnt budge after 3/5 members left, now THAT was crazy! the way yunho & changmin literally carried the name with even MORE success?? *chefs kiss*

Golden child The boyz Stray kids Exo Winner VaV Came to my head Kinda Ikon and Monsta X but everyone still misses HanBin/B.I and WonHo is now a soloist and doing really good
I immediately thought of Monsta X... when Wonhoo left, they became more popular and their English album made them popular even more 🥺I’m happy for them but on the other side I’m still crying over their past as 7 member group❤️❤️
really...? It's the opposite i think...they sadly dropped a lot in views and streaming. Their english album did good but they were mentioning that even before wonho left and wonho was still in the songs. Follow and Fatal Love were sadly not doing well :/
@@trulytaekook382 Fatal love was one the best they've done, it's didn't get as much music show wins as Alligator and Shoot out, but it did better then others, and what do you mean views? Their views has actually increased.... Their album sales has also increased....
@@aoa19_09 you literally just answered your own question. Alligator and shoot out were the songs that pivoted them forward. They're the goal right now, because that was their best. Besides that, fantasia and love killa have 36m views, which is lower than most they're mvs. Of course it is pretty good considering it hasn't even been a year, but it is still lower than those. And in general, their performance videos on music shows and award shows are much lower :/ a mv doesn't define too much cause it's fans streaming. But the performance views give an idea and they just seem very low. I think many fans are getting kind of bored and I wish we had something to hold us on. Cause they don't have any variety shows going on rn, I hope we get monsta x ray again or something like that. Many groups are focusing on their shows (bts has run bts, seventeen have going seventeen, twice have time to twice, stray kids have skz code, cravity have cravity park, etc). And these shows give fans something to occupy them when there's no comeback. Considering they didn't go on kingdom, I was hoping we could get a show...
@@trulytaekook382 You do know that they have 36M views faster then Monsta X's previous MV right? The others took WAY longer to reach 30M views... Some MVS have 33M views in 2-3 years...
They should have won song of the year for the song really really
I think Namtae fits even better with South Club’s music sound so it was a blessing for him too
Are Winner actually big in Korea or did it all go away after their rookie years? Like are they big now? Cause I don't see them getting much recognition from int. fans and Idk about Korea.
@@ItsJaeilTime they’re not that big anymore infact yg boy groups aren’t doing as well as they use (and they use to do the best out of other company bgs). I think they just hit their peak/ kinda went through 6 and 7 year curse. They’re going to the milatry anyways so yeah they’re not as big as they use to be.
Knetz too talk about Winner when it comes to music (they specially mention how Winner have a distinct colour in music). Not to mention their solo works are doing very well too and they are extremely popular in Japan. While I do agree they aren't the same as their debut days (thanks to YG's shitty management and the hype itself was unreal) they are still very successful and are considered one of the top bgs in SK. Their international fans aren't much though, sadly.

They also put Blackpink on hiatus, but the girls become bigger and bigger during their comeback
@@rattanaktorbut remember that blackpink is THE ONLY kpop group that have worked with that strategy, they are the only group as of now that was not affected by not having comebacks but was actually the opposite and it could have to do with the fact that they targeted the american audience right after debut so the general public of america was the one interested and they don't care bcs of a year with no music as that is faster than the average, or do you not remember that blackpink started to get fans inside corea relatively recently? on the other hand ikon and winner has one of the strongest fanbases in japan which was what yg was aiming at at the time
Winner indeed had the potential and all resources to be Huge only if YGE's management didn't suck.
Well YGE is really the worst management. They wasted so many talented artists like 2ne1 and lee hi.

True
Agree👍
You're right.
I really feel the disrespect when it said "Apink only got famous when Yookyung left" They are charting in music charts since debut unlike other successful groups out there who only got physical release success
They even got their first music shows win when yookyung was still there. It's just apink thing that they're releasing a bop after their hiatus until now
EXO is a different case here
they already were big even before debut, as new group they already had a huge fandom and success, with Wolf and Growl they skyrocketed even further, did exodus of member effect EXO later on again NO they started out on top and remained there and still is top leaders of 3rd gen

Girls Day, KARA, and EXID first came to mind. APink already successful in Korea since debut so losing 1 member didn't change their popularity that much.
I know this because I've been following Kpop really closely since their debut.
1st thing on my mind EXO..losing members didnt effect their popularity
Nope. EXO was widely in popular with all the 12 members as well. Growl was an ot12 song
EXO started becoming popular as OT12.
they were popular way before remember call me baby and the iconic song growl
Nope. EXO got Daesang with OT12 in their debut year as rookie.
After Laun left ONF in august 2019, ONF got more popular, and they just got their first win in this Tuesday on The Show
I was wondering if The Boyz make it on the list 🤔🤔
Anyway, the member who left (Hwall) was the most popular member of the boyz, now Sunwoo is.

Apink still being sooo close with their former member despite being in the group for only 3 out of 10 years. 😭💗
*apink is such an iconic group. they did THAT.*

Super Junior is the first thing that came onto my mind, they went through dramatic shit with past members
True, even without former members they had so much struggles and shit, I feel sorry for them( but thankfully they're still strong and will have a comeback soon)))
I was a fan of theirs when members suddenly left lol, I haven't been a fan for a while though

Many groups are focusing on their shows (bts has run bts, seventeen have going seventeen, twice have time to twice, stray kids have skz code, cravity have cravity park, etc).
