- Graeme went on a foraging trip with a group of Fungi enthusiasts to see just what is growing in a damp area of his local woodland. He spotted the advert for the trip in his local supermarket, so parted tearfully with his coveted £5 note and grabbed his small camera coming up with an amazing variety of species.
Then on another walk he spots the most enormous Parasol mushroom? that he actually goes back and measures at over 13 inches in diameter...it’s the biggest of the species the expert instructor had ever seen...Whooppeee...it’s another P.B. for Graeme and a 1st for the Totally Awesome Fishing Show.

Hi Graeme,
Hope things are okay your side. Checked for Friday upload and no joy. That,s not usual for you although you always surprise us with something. Food for thought is that people may take for granted the massive amount of work and indeed commitment it must take to sustain a channel like this but your true subscribers think in a different way in the hope that all is well. and your always thought of in a personal way as a public way.
Best As Always to The Best.
Steve in Fife.
All fine here just monumental amount of admin work on the properties, plus had to help Mike with his film(TA.Outdoors)..just not enough hours in the day and I'm getting older so harder to keep the pace up....but I aim to be back on the case shortly...might get a wednesday film up as well.
Thanks for this interesting upload on "Mushroom Thingy's" Graeme. I like the outdoor films👍 They dovetail nicely with Mike at TA Outdoors. 🍷 cheers
If you buy mushrooms and then put them in the sunlight before cooking/eating them, the mushrooms absorb the Sun's rays and turn it into Vitamin D, which is good for us.
Mike was only raving about the benefits of Vitamin D this afternoon when we were filming an episode for T.A.Outdoors....I may have to investigate further.
Graeme is a fungi and very knowledgeable about all sorts of things too!
I'll take that as a compliment.
Such a likeable chap, everytime
I will certainly be paying particular attention to the mushrooms on my full English in the morning before smothering them in the old HP brown sauce.
Thank you, I enjoy the diversity of your films
I try to break it up ,always nice to know some people like it as I don't know any other fishing shows that put totally random subjects up alongside the fishing...More Random films to come though.
That guy, he is some expert... LOL "Doesn't look apetizing, but people eat these..." That was a boletus, one of the best eating mushrooms.
The huge one at the end, parasol mushroom, very, very tasty when fried on a pan in butter!
However, you need to know how to recognise them, so that you don't make a mistake.
Maybe not in England, but for example in Spain people are afraid to pick them, because there is a similar poisonous mushroom. However, if you know what to look for, you won't mistake one for the other.
So was the amanita 🍄🍄🍄 yummy
@@johny84 Maybe, but those can also kill you. We have 12 kinds of those, and like half of them are poisonous. One especially, practically no chance if you eat it. So, better safe than dead.
@@johny84 Read Wikipedia - search "amanita".
@@Dadas0560 I eat amanita 🍄 I’m not dead lol look at Adam Eve France 1400 pic and Jesus with amanita thousands people take it all cultures do
@@Dadas0560 because you have to dry them to turn to musk mol some eat row but only upset stomach they use hang on pine tree to dry wer Christmas come from deer eat them think there fly
Really enjoyed this video :)
Very interesting Graeme, I didn’t know anything about fungi until tonight.
The little white eggs are from the slugs that eat the fungus, thanks another great video.
Very enjoyable to watch many thanks !
Great video Grahame, thank you
Use to go picking magic mushrooms 😂
lol i used to do the same :)
Loved that .... hope you get a record for your fungi ❤
Really enjoyed watching this very interesting for sure
Did you find any Buttonus Tescous?
Great video!
Very interesting video Graham and the guide chap was very knowledgeable but did he need to keep picking and thus killing the beautiful fungi ?
Psilocybin mushrooms it what I go Foraging for. As I can make some extra pocket Money 😉😉. Chicken of the woods is my favorite, especially pan fryd with a nice slab of beef 😋 👌 🤣
Great thanks so much
Thank you very interesting
A very interesting and enjoyable film.. Its obviously a huge topic to study and one where even the experts find out new things, like your huge toadstool.
Hard to believe I was just walking Mike's dog in other woods and randomly stumbled on the biggest Mushroom I have ever seen....
As a guy who likes to do wild fishing /camping I found that very informative thank you very much Mr G.P. however.. a few years back I actually picked up some sort of mushroom species which actually made me very sick . It released some sort of toxins into skin.. I was cringing for sure when I saw you handling them without.. I was actually waiting for you to start tripping 😄 thank God you didn't I would never ever again fungus are any type of wild.... I found it very informative and loved every minute of it I wish it had been on a little longer Greame but I'm looking forward to the fishing trip on Friday.
I only thought about it AFTER I touched it ..! Kind of dumb, but that's how I have been all my life...Soon as I touched it I thought.."Should I have done that ?..Could be toxic"...
My man Graham wanted to go on a proper trip 🍄 ⭐️ ⚡️
Great video, as always, but what i dont quite understand is why are the experts picking and dropping them rather than leaving them to grow?
All I know is if you have no idea what it is or are in doubt, don't eat it.
Good video there Graeme. 😀👍
i see why he was only 5 pounds. alot of i dont know going on. at least he admits it
I live in the middle of the Derbyshire Dales Graeme, and I'm surrounded by woods and field's. I will have to go fungi hunting sometime.
Its when you start looking closely that you start to see all the smaller species.
Parasol very edible, strong taste
28.15 min this mushroom is fantastic to eat flour egg breadcrumbs and pan fried but this mushroom is very similar to poison one
Last Wednesday's video about a cook up at the cabin seems to have disappeared from UA-cam. It was a good one!
It will go up again, but was supposed to go with another film,so my mistake loading it.
😂😂Totally Awesome Gardening Show.!! lol 👏🏼👏🏼😴😴
Google IDs it to be Panaeolus Cyanescens at 3:44
it's always interesting what happens in nature, there's fungus called "zombie ant fungus" found in tropical forests that infects ants brains and makes them climb a tree and it paralyzes it bursting through its outer shell and spreads the spores to continue the cycle, and we complain if we get "athletes foot" great work Graeme cheers for the videos
Some nasty creatures in those tropical climates ,I guess some have still to be discovered. Hope it doesn't jump to humans,I don't fancy climbing a tree and then exploding ..!!!
Cheers Graeme. Think there slug eggs? I used to collect them and hatch the in my room in a little tank when I was younger. All the best.
Thanks for the comment ,I did wonder what they were and I have never seen slugs eggs before,so another 1st for me..
Ask him where the magic ones are greame 😂
I was actually waiting for Greame to start tripping out and blasting out Frank Zappa .. I certainly wouldn't be man handling mushrooms or fungus without.. did it once before and it made me sick 🤢
He show them 🍄🍄🍄🍄amanita
Or ZZ Top,Led Zep,Black Sabbath,Peter Green,Cream, Gary Moore etc...any wopuld do,as long the volume is cranked...
The fungai growing out of the caterpillar might have been Cordyceps. Its become quite famous due to a zombie series that is focused around it.
Now I know who put the FUN in fungi. 🤨
The bracket fungus on the oak looks like agarikon
👍👍👍
Iv never seen graham not upload a video on a Friday ever. A hope everything's okay
I think we missed a couple of Friday uploads over 10 years but I just can't hold the pace with work, filming and editing like I used to,plus helped Mike with his filming(Up on T.A. Outdoors).Hopefully next week might buy me a bit of spare time and I can get back in the groove.
@@TAFishingI hesitate to suggest something that requires more work but if you miss a Friday upload maybe just put a short message on the Community part of the channel, just to reassure those of us worried you might have gone head first into the river !
Out hunting for liberty caps
The eggs I reckon are snails eggs
They looked like eggs to me under that tree trunk
One comment says they are Snails eggs, which I confess I have never seen before.
" Magical "
He doesn't sound very confident for an expert , " I'll only eat them if there from a supermarket " .
I thought that myself...!!.....I'm hardly likely to see a Toadstool in a Supermarket.
@@TAFishing 🤔🤣🤣🤣
Protein lol
I am sorry Grahame but your expert was very disappointing I think I will stick to the young chap from Learn your Land.
Thanks for your input jimi. Super critical.
He's a bit of a rubbish expert
I should get my £5 back....!!
