This was an amazing press conference imo. So honest. So humble. Tsitsipas seems very passionate about the sport. Not often a player is so into dissecting the match in a presser after losing with a scoreline like that. Future champion or not you've earned a fan in me for sure. Well played!

I think this was just a minor setback for him in terms of his career even though for him right now the loss must seem devastating. Which is understandable. He was on such a high just a few days ago and I don’t think the result was expected by him and that is why he’s taking it so hard. But I don’t blame him for being confident in his abilities. Isn’t that what every player feels going into a match? You have to have the mindset that you are going to win. That’s why they are all there after all which is to win! I really think that if he continue at this level, works even harder on strengthening and on his precision that he will win Grand Slams. He has what it takes to become a superstar... talent, charisma, intelligence and very entertaining to watch.

David C. From the past year when I saw him play in Estoril open ... I knew he was going to become a great player ... he has a different aura on the court that distinguishes him among other new players ...
And his game is impressive: refreshing style, great service, very talented one handed backhand, all round game, not afraid style, very good mental strenght at such a young age ..powerfull shots and he's very clever in the decisions he makes on the court
As his physical strength and accuracy improves, I have no doubt he will reach the top very soon!

I think he's so disappointed because he's starting to believe the hypes written about him in the newspaper when he beat Fed ... but Nadal kind of return him to his former place ...
Don't you guys think there is repeating pattern this past few years ?
Everytime someone beat one of the Fed/Rafa/Novak guys, everyone will hype that person up as the next big thing, and then in the next couple of rounds they get beaten ? And then they fall off the radar ?
Look at Hyeon Chung, Theim, Dimitrov, Kyrgios, Kyle, Shapovalov, Khachanov ... all these guys have gone nowhere near living up to the hype after their big match win, still no slams coming from them ...
One big win is not enough to prove anything, I wish the press will avoid overhyping these youngsters and give them a false impression that they are special. They should be encouraged to work hard based on their passion for the sports, not because they think they have to live up to the hype that they are special ...

He is not a "one tournament wonder" he has been putting up impressive win after impressive win for the better part of a year now starting from close to 100 at the start of 2018 to now being ranked 12th in the world . Final at Barcelona (beating many top 20 players includingThiem along the way in straights on clay) , Semis at Estroril (beating Anderson) 4th round at Wimbledon, Semi final at Cincinnati, Final at a Masters in Toronto beating (Thiem, Djokovic, Zverev and Anderson en route to the final) , won the title in Stockholm, won the title at Next Gen finals and now at AO he beat 5 great players including Roger Federer all in 4 sets to make the semis at just 20 years old.

the rest of feds wins over Nadal came in warm up tournaments so there is no point talking about those. You can always wing it in 3 set matches.

Do ppl really think this sort of thing happens by accident??? He's been playing really well this past year and is only 20 yrs old and comes from a country where tennis is not fully supported or even that popular. So I think he's making some impressive accomplishments. And not to make excuses but he just lost against a Rafa who is playing some of the most exceptional tennis of his career as of late, who wouldn't be affected or even intimated by that? If he continues to work at this level, work hard and improve on his skills and strengthening then I do believe he will become a future GS winner and tennis superstar.

You talk about how Nadal didn't have much left after Dimitrov match to play Roger, but it only showed after he was just two games away from the title? Mind boggling logic! In the same way, I can also say that Nadal failed to defeat a 36 year old guy coming back from a six-month hiatus with virtually no competitive match practice. How about that? Nadal humiliated and destroyed Roger for so many years, no question about that. But he also had no damn clue how to handle Roger's backhand throughout 2017 (AO, IW, Miami, Shanghai..no these are not 'warmup tournaments', they are top of the line prizes in the men's game). Also, for the record, it was an outdoor match, please stop projecting your blurry version of events on to reality.

You don't ever figure out Nadal, Djokovic, Federer. Just become as good as them. They play multi-multi-multi dimensional tennis. All three of them mastered the modern game offensively, defensively. Pushed from one to the other two over the years. Made themselves better. They've become much smarter than the rest on a tennis court. Lots of big match experience. Review their GS tallies. They've destroyed all the past records from legends of the game. It's crazy. All three formed a granite barrier between contenders and champions that only Del Potro/Wawrinka have been able to surpass (a few times) since 2008. This Tsitsipas guy simply won't become as good as them in two years. It will take him a lot of losses, tennis introspection and mental resilience to reach a level of consistency that makes him capable of going through these three in the same tournament. He has game.

Stefanos lost to Nadal, he won only six games in the best of 5 where you said he is better than Zverev. Zverev in 2017, 3 round took Nadal to Five close sets (he won more than 6 games),Your one dimensional theory holds no water if you compare the two matches against Nadal and Zverev 5 set matches last year at RG. To quote Nadal when asked about Zverev in 5 set matched, he said "3 and 5 sets is the same tennis skills are involved, tennis is tennis. Nadal also said in an interview - The difference is in slams your first 1, 2 or 3 rounds are likely against qualifiers, and in 1000's you are playing seeded players from round 2 onward. Plus anyone is better than the other on any given day, one week is Stefanos next it is Zverev, and then some other next gen player with be the following week. "And before his fans come with his titles". If you haven't heard, the players play the game for titles so his titles has to be mentioned.

@@rahamanahmed1064 let me argue with you, perhaps zverev had more endurance againts rafa, but its because his game has less weak points againts rafas form of playing tennis and also its not as dimensional as tsitsipas form of playing, stefanos has a more talented and complete game than sascha, you can see the difference in his forehand and netgame, also a powerful backhand so as zverev, the difference is, rafa always, most of the times crush those who plays one handend, the weight of his topspin and being a lefty is a challenged for one handers, and zverev has way more experience than stefanos in the tour and hasnt been into any GS quarterfinal while stefanos has proved he can compete for thos tournaments and also in masters 1000 just as zverev, you cant have that judgement you have only being based in a pergormance against rafa. Rahaman Ahmed Zverev forced a 5th set against a version of Nadal that was just coming back from injury and was clearly not in very good form. Don’t let Federer stans fool you; 2017 AO Nadal was a very below average Nadal whose movement looked off, ground strokes fell short, and serve was average as ever. He made the final and nearly won the title only because he simply had to massacre the lost generation which he can do in his sleep.

With Federer, tsitsipas could keep the rally as he has adjusted to that kind of pace, spin and ball height and i think this is what he was trying to articulate. Rafa hits the ball hard with a lot of top spin and atm the ball is landing in the corners at a high rate. He is aggressive early and it's really hard to counter. This is the best he has played at the aus. Might be even too much for the best defensive baseline player, though I believe in Djokovic.

I love his honesty, all over his face, no pretending , no trying to answer nicely, politely, what people expect but his REAL, vurnerable personality. Thanks, Stefanos!

This kid has an honesty and (controlled) bravado that I appreciate. The rest of the next-gen should take note. I see him as #1 by end of 2020.

Why every Rafa fans or some other people feels the need to rub on Tsitsipas' face that Nadal owned him today? Without you said it he already felt it and he has no excuses on it. He admits that Rafa played tricky game (which is understandable, in his young career, its not that much you meet lefty player, let alone Rafa and he just want to crack the code). His disappointment comes from the place in his mind that he supposedly prepare himself better, fight even more and being persistent and look at him saying he wanted at least a 4-setter or tight match because he wanted to stay longer on the court, got a thing or two that can helped him improving his game and chances against Rafa

@@Phurngirathaana Do my comment sounded like as if its more important? No. I just voiced out my opinion on how people just quickly saying he's arrogant whatsoever when he's just stating his thought on the match. No sense of importance from my comment

It started with Roberto Bautista. He didn’t play well and Bautista was tired. I could see his form dropped in that much. Playing Rafa just exposed the drop in form.
