For me Siyeon changed the most from Minx to Dreamcatcher. I totally agree with the "cute sexy" thing it was definitely a bit questionable but ngl I still listen to these song unironically like they're good okay. There's a lot of funny moments of the girls cringing when minx was mentioned or the songs were played, they also eventually did an OT7 version of "love shake" during their concert which is definitely worth a watch.

So many others have already said stuff so I’ll comment that my biggest takeaway from looking back at Minx every time is what sorcery is Jiu engaging in because she has not aged in the past decade! Also recommend you check out 2022 Love Shake from DC’s Seoul Halloween concert. It was a happy moment.. Gahyeon/Dongie live out their best Minx lives, Jiu and Sua go silly with cuteness, and Siyeon, Dami and Yooh reclaim it and (we assume) put a lot of the hard times/trauma/memories from Minx times behind them. I think Minx always brought up difficult memories for all five but it seemed to be particularly hard on Siyeon and Dami. We kinda chuckled it was about the concept change but it seemed to be a lot deeper with how legitimately uncomfortable most members felt with the sexy/cute image and the uncertainty of their future/careers. Once they got that first (and second!) win, it’s like they could all breathe and put Minx to bed with positive vibes with that performance 😊
Yup, agreed, Jiu = Vampire. And Yoohyeon must have been turned at some point because she does not age much over most of that time. And I agree with the rest of what you put in here. :)
Minx had very short sad story. Siyeon and Dami were particularly traumatised by the whole experience that at one point Siyeon refused to wear hot pants, Dami practically ran away and Sua vowed never to cut her hair again. Minx had to die in order for Dreamcatcher to be born. All turned out well and eventually they overcame their trauma, however Siyeon and Dami still cringe whenever the subject of Minx is brought up. I am hoping that one day, they can re record all Minx songs and put some Dreamcatcher magic in it. I am sure Gahyeon and Handong will appreciate it as those 2 absolutely adore Minx. By the way, Love Shake is originally sung by Dal Shabet and it's brilliant.

'Dark Past'...that has BRIGHT Pink and Ocean Blue and Tangerine and was Bubbly and had Skateboards and Barbie-Doll packaging... It's not just 'the duality' that shocks people, it is the sheer LEVELS of that duality, like an actual 180! The ONLY POSSIBLE way that DC could be any further away from/ any more different than what Minx was, would be if DC was a Boy Group...well, according to Dami, DC is a Boy Group...lol
I'm not usually a fan of the super cutesy pop sound, but I absolutely love Love Shake so much lol. Maybe it's just because I love the people performing it. Appearance-wise JiU has barely changed... she is 100% eternally youthful visual. I think my favorite part of this reaction was when you stated why you were reacting to this lol!
1. "Why Did You Come To My Home?" was MINX's debut song. Then after 10 months they released the song called "Love Shake" title track and same album name. But due to the unsuccessful comeback, they got rebranded into Dreamcatcher. 2. Knowing you are a Dami bias, seeing Dreamcatcher's Dami first before seeing MINX's Dami with utter shock is so relatable hahaha! 3. Dami was the former maknae/youngest in MINX(JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Yoohyeon, Dami). Right now, in Dreamcatcher, she likes that Gahyeon is the maknae, which really suits her(Gahyeon). And Dami has no regrets not being the cute maknae anymore haha! 4. Other members, especially Siyeon, are not really comfortable with mentioning about MINX. They'll beat you up. JK. Hahaha! 5. It's SuA who sported the blonde bob cut, she looked so cute with that hair. But now, I think she will never try that hair again. LOL.
I legitimately really like WDYCTMH. They did do an OT7 version of Love Shake back in 2022 at one of their Korean concerts, which was really funny to see. They even re-recorded their parts so that Handong and Gahyeon could participate. Maybe we'll get a WDYCTMH OT7 version one day as well.
Both are fun songs, and more likeable after the first shock and a couple listens. But I'm glad they changed style, otherwise they would have totally flew right under my radar
to be fair I don't think Siyeon was generally happy about minx. At first I had always thought her depression regarding minx had to do with her thinking sh ehad lost her chance to sing on stage. But in an interview a while ago she brought up how minx was a concept and sound she felt was a stark departure from the type of music she wanted to make. She used to be the front woman of a rock band in her school days and has referred to Taka from One OK Rock as one of her musical inspirations so I can see that. If you watch the fancams of their broken Halloween performance of loveshake she looks a bit uncomfortable and when the played love shake at a random play dance game during Odd eye Dami walked away and stood facing a wall and Siyeon literally yelled in frustration and just generally stopped participating in the game. the choreo for why did you come to my home was also too sexualized and had male backup dancers and there is a specific part where the girls have to do a partnered dance, in the dance practice Siyeon literally flinched away from her partner, also Yoohyeon and Dami were both minors during this period. It also led to Siyeon and Dami absolutely refusing to wear anything but pants for a solid period. Siyeon would also get very anxious about Yoohyeon wearing short dresses during their minx days. It just generally took a toll on the girls. Jiu even blamed herself for the failure of the group.
Thankfully, something clicked in Happyface CEO's head... Obviously he did not blame the girls for the market not liking them enough, and then of course he must have become aware of how uncomfortable they were. He REALLY wanted to make it up to them. In other companies, Idols have been fired for less but this guy is an awesome Human Being! Instead of being a money-hungry jerk like a lot of other Execs at other companies, he decided to do right by the ladies. So eventually Dreamcatcher was born. :)
