Ayyyeeee Happy Thursday!!! I really like that Detroit is trying to go more European with the thought of bringing people together outside.. what do you guys think?
you mention bringing people outside together but when i see your video most of the time you don't see a single other person walking. im from the netherlands i really can't even imagen this actually happening.
Speaking of Detroit, did you know that there used to a Dutch newspaper in Detroit ? It was the Gazette van Detroit, started by Dutch speaking Belgian immigrants in 1914. It has existed until 2018 in one form or another. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gazette_van_Detroit
Good job Detroit, last year I saw a Peter Santanello episode on Detroit and people were also quite positive about the progression that is going on. It's nice to hear some positive vibes from the country that gave us so many bad ones recently
Great job Detroit! Just keep improving and you will get there! Don't forget that in the Netherlands it also took over 50 years to get where we are now (and we still need a lot of improvements!)
Exactly, it didn't happen overnight here in the Netherlands either, it takes time and dedication to makes the changes. And it looks like Detroit is making its first steps towards positive change. 😊
Sky...you my dude. I went to so many concerts and events in downtown Detroit as a kid. I got a ton of fam in the D and glad to see it slowly turning it around. I believe that all those casinos downtown helped to turn downtown around over the past 30 years. But they gotta get those others areas of Detroit together...Detroit is as large as Chicago in scale, so there is alot to still be done in such a large city. Welcome back home and I hope to move to the NL one day as well.
Put your hands up for Detroit 😉House music was invented in Detroit. I looked it up and the record cold teperature in the Netherlands was -27 Celsius or -17 Fahrenheit in Winterswijk (close to the border with Germany) in 1942.
In the Netherlands winters used be cold with loads of snow and ice. Just ask your colleagues for what was de elfstedentocht and how long ago it was that de rayonhoofden bij elkaar kwamen?
Thank you for bringing us along. Nico to see Detroid developping, a city also famous for Motown and early techno (Underground Resistance)🙂I have never been in the states though, so thank you.
thats also what happened in the netherlands, in the 80s and 90s there were inner cities and neighbourhoods in cities and towns and villages etc that where old and often unsafe, many krakers etc... slowly cleaned it up or demolished and built new neighbourhoods. ps the water in the netherlands is not as good anymore as it was...way more crap in it but luckily no fluoride because of people who fought for like dr Hans Moolenburgh who fought in the 70s for a verbod.

I honestly can'tremember the last time it was -15C. I think the last really "harsh winter" ("Strenge winter" in Dutch) was late 90's, I think 96 or 97. We did have a short cold spell in 2021 with up to -10 but that lasted all of 3 days I think
You could become a municipal consultant in the US: just on passing good ideas (the ones that work) on to the US. Those trams in Detroit 👍! You bucketlisted the city for me! Thanks!!
I've seen American videos of people in cars yelling at bicycle riders to use the sidewalk. Now that's something you'll never hear in the Netherlands. The sidewalk is for walking. It's even in the word you use, Americans!
Great to see this good vibe! For me, that 'new' airport (about 20 years ago) felt like a U turn!! Detroit goes up and up!! The water? No necessary!! Arlington VA just took action (ozon!) around 2000. NYC: always reasonable (Appalachian water!). Folks: pay a very little more and no need to get all that plastic: saves money for all!
I notice how the whole waterfront is fenced off, something you hardly ever see in the Netherlands. Not along the city canals, nor along the major rivers, harbours or quays.
Best wishes for 2025 to you and your family, for all a healthy new year to your family. a prosperous and healthy new year to all the viewers of ITS Sky.
Go to Greece. The islands of Crete or Kos. I drink my cappuccino from the machine. But the rest is from a bottle or beer on tap. I did Greece 20x. And don't drink water in the crown. Living in Spakenburg, Utrecht. Where there is also a water bothel factory with the same water that comes from my tap. And it's as good as SPA from Belgium.
The WE❤DET art really reminds me of the IAMSTERDAM art in Amsterdam! I wonder if it's inspired by it. I would love to visit Detroit one day to see the Motown museum but an American friend of mine recommended me to not go cause of the city being dangerous, sadly 😒 Maybe it's a lot safer than people think based on this video. What do u know about the safety of the area of where the museum is? It's apparently at 2648 West Grand Boulevard according to Google.

Happy 2025 ✨✨ I agree, chlorinated water should be banned. I'd say there's enough chemicals in the food already. The water tastes the same a bit further south, in Indiana. Even ice cubes in some restaurants are made from that water, I'd usually ask for no ice in my drinks. The taste of chlorine is so strong that even coke can't hide it.
