Thanks for the review, just pulled the trigger on one of these in Caspian blue (May 22). They seem to be selling well here in the UK as I don't get ownership until late August then the next lot are December. Looks nice urban riding there in Oz.

Absolutely love my tiger 900gt. Had it since September 2020 and done almost 20,000 miles including a 2,500 mile European tour last year. My only negative is the Bluetooth module, it is absolute garbage, apart from that, everything is spot on. I'm averaging 62mpg as well

Hope you had fun on the European tour, that’s on my bucket list. Great to hear you get healthy fuel efficiency too. My Bluetooth connectivity has given me some issues, it’s worked, then not, but it seems sorted now. Had my local Triumph dealer download latest updates for the module and all good since then.
Continue loving the Tiger and chewing through the miles!

Well I came from the latest BMW R1250 GSTE and I can tell you the bluetooth on that bike is the same as my Triumph next to useless, this bluetooth on bikes is in it's infancy, probably a few years before they get it right. As for the option of buying a GT over the GTPRO just because of the bluetooth, that's a bit misleading TBH, the GT is basic doesn't have all these that the GTPRO does have.
My Triumph connectivity system (okay doesn't work granted)
    Centre Stand
Electronically adjustable Marzocchi rear suspension unit
    LED Fog lights
    Triumph Shift Assist
    Heated Rider and Pillion Seats
    Tyre Pressure Monitoring
5 riding modes (only four on the GT)
If the noise while having the ignition while doing something on the bike is annoying you, just push the kill switch it'll stop (I'll assume like me you turn off by the key which is the correct way so I'm told) the fuel pump making the noise, just remember to put it back to start when you want to start the bike.
The tiger is great bike, I've been on 4 GS's over 8 years and I can safely say that the tiger is a far better bike, lighter, powerfull enough for legal speeds, in fact I ride my Tiger quicker than I did my GS's and I never thought I'd be saying that TBH.

      Hi Rob
Thank you for watching and for your comprehensive listing of the extras on the GT Pro. I couldn't remember all of them at the time of recording the video, so thank you. I also kind of talked about the things that were more important to myself. The fog lamps and heated seats are a bit of overkill for the climate here in Perth, Western Australia. However, now winter is here I may test out the heated seat.
As for the Triumph connectivity, I had all round success once I had referred to the set up manual, the 'My Triumph Connectivity Module'. I also assigned the Triumph connectivity to slot TWO on my headset. I go in to details in the York Motorcycle Festival, maybe worth a watch, if you haven't seen it already.
You're the first person I have heard say the Tiger is better than the BMW GS. Triumph certainly have upped their game and the Tiger 1200 should chew in to BMW's profits!
Thanks again for your input, ride safe and continue to enjoy the Tiger.

Today is my one year anniversary with this bike. It's been a wonderful and fulfilling experience in all ways and I there's no regret whatsoever. However, I never could get the Triumph navigation to function properly. I just won't connect the way it's supposed to. However, I am able to connect my iPhone 7 to my helmet (Sena 10S) in a weird 3-way with the bike. I can receive texts on the dash, make calls, operate Spotify volume and next song using the joystick on the left handlebar. So it does work, but not as advertised.
For me there were several criteria that needed to be satisfied before choosing to buy this bike. Connectivity was on the list, but not near the top. So I've learned to live with the quirks. The frustrating part is going back to the dealership and asking about the connectivity issues and having to watch them shrug their shoulders and look to provide solace by staring at the ceiling. The truth is more likely that Triumph knew it wasn't premium and rushed it to production anyway. Really fantastic bike otherwise - absolutely love it! New buyers should be mindful of the quirkiness with the Bluetooth, but it's certainly no reason to turn a cheek. That'd be like denying the hottest girl in the room because she's missing a toenail. Silver Spring, Maryland, US.

It’s good to hear you’re still enjoying the Tiger after a year, it is a great bike.
I have had more success with the Bluetooth connectivity, having assigned the Triumph Bluetooth to slot two on my Cardo headset. The Tiger and my iPhone were competing for slot one, resulting in connection issues. If you haven’t tried this, it may be worth a go. However, if you’re comfortable with the set up, you may not want to experiment any more.

One of my local dealers wasn’t very helpful, they weren’t interested in assisting me and stated the volume control issue I had was probably due to my iPhone. I have an iPhone 13 Pro, it’s currently the latest iPhone. I managed to successfully set up the Bluetooth system by reading the Triumph connectivity module manual. Also, assigning the Triumph connectivity to slot two on my headset eradicated the fast paced instructions when using sat nav apps, including the Triumph TFT sat nav.

Bluetooth, perhaps dealer needs to apply update or its your phone. I've got a new Tiger 900 GT Pro (Red) and connected my Samsung Note 9 and Cardo Paktalk to bike and its never failed since, app needs to be opened first in background on phone and then works all the time, when recording your ride don't forget to choose your bike (Triumph could have done away with that option if only one bike added), or like me the get back home to find no ride recorded, doh! Only the volume should fail to work (Triumph know this), but then I talk to Paktalk to raise and lower that level. I can use phone and SMS fine.
Rear suspension using Modes works great on varying roads, I shuffle road\sport all the time.
Yep cruise is great (no hands and bike just goes straight never trusted that before on other bikes:-)) check out Suzuki's where you need to stretch thumb out and then loose grip on throttle, Triumph much better.
Shift assist, well I had a Ninja 1000SX and Triumph is MUCH better, but I too can feel up better than down but still works great though. Not sure why people feel the need to always use it, I still use clutch and never go between 1-2 to sympathise with gearbox no matter how good the tech its still a manual. Use BMW GS new 1250, kicks up up the ass, say no more!
Suspension changes with Mode, like Road softer than Sport on back, front is easily adjustable, mine one-two clicks softer and so easy to change using fingers:-) You know its working when you get off the bike with a smile, unlike Ninja with lots of chatty even after lots of adjustment, hence why its gone after 10 months and 4000miles from new, and I don't miss the power.
Navigation works when fuel status or other displayed and will popup so you "ok" it to go away, ok as a second nav and confirmation along with Calimoto and/or Google
Noise is fine, mine does same.
You should try display style 2 as 3 scrunches things down too much for my liking, hey your choice:-)
Here's my dislikes: Clutch lever too short my small finger creeps over end, and I'm liking the bike even more the more I ride, sorry that's not a dislike, well seat for me can nag but you can move around, but heated is great, who'd have though on a winters day.
Quality, so far is fantastic, my second Triumph (675R 2014 new) well done Triumph!
Tyres, never seen so much tread depth on new tyres, and size doesn't matter, bigger isn't always better.
I think overall after having so many bikes and my third new bike in two years this one is a keeper, got full explorer luggage and engine\tank protectors, loving it. I'm 54years 5'8", just under 13stone, 29" inside leg with seat in highest position, no buffeting and generally good in all windy conditions (not had that before).
Ok, I'll stop, do you think I like my bike, haha!

      Hi Andrew
Thank you for your comments, much appreciated!
All good with the Bluetooth connectivity now, everything working including the volume! I do suggest to anyone else reading these comments to assign slot two of your smartphone or headset device to stop the Triumph Bluetooth competing with your devices for slot one. Mine did and I had issues with my headset, fast playback from music and fast talking for the sat nav directions. All fixed when I assigned the Triumph Bluetooth to slot two on my headset
Yes, the navigation system is functional, but not as good as Google maps or Waze.
I have talked about a solution for the noisy ignition Andrew, it 's stopped by pressing back on the engine kill switch. I reiterate this on the next vlog.
Thank you for your suggestion to I try style two, I will give it a go. However, I'm not overly struck on any of the styles, if I am brutally honest.
I have raised the seat on my Tiger, I'm 5'11", but can't say I've nooticed much difference.
Great to hear you are loving your bike! I am very happy with mine.

Sorry but I disagree on a few points here, the smartphone connectivity, once I worked out that you have to connect Tiger Bluetooth to the Iphone twice it has never dropped out. Quick shifter is great but agree that going down the box takes some getting used to. My mirrors have never vibrated and I have nobby tyres on. Agree on Triumph App and the turn by turn being poor, why they couldn’t have built in Sat Nav! Best option I’ve found is an Evotech mount and Iphone, I use Apple maps, works a treat. Would be nice if they did Apple Car Play as the Honda Africa Twin does. Your mpg is great, I would suggest your throttle may be getting stuck halfway😉. I think the gears are too short but that can be bettered by changing the front sprocket from a 16 tooth to a 17 tooth, will drop revs by 3-400rpm making the gears longer. Personally I think its a great bike, light, nimble, agile, quick and comfortable. 👍

It can get up to around 42C here in Perth in the summer months. Thankfully, we’re in autumn now, so the temperatures are in the comfortable mid twenties. Also, our winters are very warm compared to Ol’ Blighty, around 15C in the day. So, we can fortunately ride for nine plus months of the year. Only in summer do we refrain from riding on the hot days, which is 34C and beyond for me! On average, nine days each summer will be above 40C, not too many stinking hot days, but above 34C is rather challenging to say the least.

In playing catch with my grandkids I’m reminded that “connectivity” requires an appropriate throw and an appropriate catch. Which begs a question: Which Bluetooth version does Triumph use; is there any way to find out if it’s at least Bluetooth 5.3? Triumph’s own “connectivity” webpage goes to a lot of trouble implying the trouble riders have with their system is because of the devices being used, but they don’t identify what Bluetooth version they use. Also, is it possible (IE affordable and easy) to upgrade the Bluetooth versions as they improve connectivity?

      Hi Walter
      Thanks for watching and commenting.
Good point raised. I’ve currently updated from the Cardo Bold to the Cardo Edge. I had the bold working flawlessly, currently having issues with the edge and Tiger playing nicely. The edge is Bluetooth 5.2. I’m unable to have music playing consistently as it drops out and I have no control from the switch gear for volume. I think I have just realised what the issue may be! I haven’t assigned the bike in slot TWO within my edge headset. I will try that and let you know the outcome.

How come no one really pushes the 900 GT to A road, highway speeds of 80 mph/130kph to give us an explanation as to whether we really need the 1200 in the USA or if the 900 is comfortable enough.

I can’t answer that question, I ride like a grandad!

I had the 1200, too heavy, too heavy for me, 5’10”. The 900 is plenty powerful enough up to 110 mph, then it falls off. Still love it though.

THE STUPIDEST things Triumph did with this TFT are 1) Tachometer - designed by a 14yr old gamer. FAIL. 2) Odometer The odometer only comes on for a few seconds on start up. Irritating.

      Hi Stu
Thanks for watching and for your comment.
Yes, the TFT needs improving. Burying away a useful piece of information is not ideal. It’d be nice to swap out the tachometer for the odometer reading. Not keen on the rev counter display, the option to turn that off would be good. The whole real estate of the screen display is overly busy. Very doubtful, but a software update to improve the TFT would be most welcome! I have the Triumph new owner survey to complete, putting together a bit of a list of suggested improvements for Triumph to consider.

Yes, I'd like the Odometer in trip status as I always take fuel stats when filling up and record overall mileage, so have to switch off and back on again before going to pump, or spend more time at pump writing my mileage on phone.

      Hi Andrew
Thanks for watching and for adding to the debate! Yes, Triumph really need to listen to customers and address the issues on the Tiger TFT.

It goes to show that no bike is perfect. However, the Tiger 900 GT Pro has more positives than negatives.

Would you consider this vine for Moto touring? Long distance trips?

      Hi gtr161
      Thanks for watching and commenting!
Although we haven’t been on a long distance tour on the bike yet. However, you’d have no problem taking the Tiger 900 on a road trip, even with a pillion! Two people comfortably sit on the bike, the engine is accommodating and it’d cruise mile after mile. If riding solo, you’d love the sense of freedom the Tiger offers.

It's a big inefficient TFT. They could have easily sorted apple car play/ android auto with all those inches on the screen.

      Hi Expat Biker
Thanks for watching! Yes, it’d have been good if Triumph had integrated Apple CarPlay in to the Bluetooth system. Maybe implemented in the near future.

Thanks for watching and for the offer. I have the manual. Successfully paired initially and was operational, but no volume control. Had issues since, I’m willing to spend a little more time on it, unfortunately my patience is now running rather thin.
