  • Ian reviews the Lost Glydra:
    www.boardshop.co.uk/brands/lo...
The Lost Surfboards Glydra is the big brother to the excellent Hydra model, all the good bits of the Hydra but longer! There are loads of good mid lengths out there to choose from so the Glydra needed a point of difference. The Hydra was viewed initially as a full on groveler but anyone who surfed one quickly realised it had a lot more to offer in terms of performance, the same is true of the Glydra it actually surfs much better than you would ever imagine.
How do you get performance into a board like this you might well ask, well the sidecut of the board is clever, it locks in through turns but releases too so the board feels rock solid through turns and holds speed too. The double concave through the single hull concave generates lift and speed with ease. The rocker line is perfectly balanced with the fin positioning and concaves to allow the board to turn way more tightly than it should. Really didn't want to like this board but its such a cleverly designed and well thought out board its hard not to love it!
There is so much design detail here that there is a danger of being overloaded so best to watch our video review where we cover off the tail design and all the other aspects of the design.
The Glydra is a long fish, mini glider, funboard all rolled into one, it kind of defies description but we'll sit it in the mid length; category for now. Sizing is easyish, as with all mid lengths think about the waves you're going to be surfing in and what you want the board to do for you, if you glide go bigger, if you want perfromance go smaller.
The board has a 5 fin set up so you have multiple fin options, we found a biggish quad set worked really well but we will definitely try it as a twin + trailer too especially when the waves are small and weak.
Don't forget you can also order a custom version of this board choosing your exact dims, fin set up and fin system, check out our customizer service at Boardshop right now. All you need to do is pump in the details and pay a £100 deposit with the balance due when we send you the board, average build time is 6-8 weeks. Also quite a few of the chaps here surf this board, or have surfed it plus we talk to lots of surfers and take on their feedback so we are here to chat about this or any other board just give us a call on 0044 (0) 1243 674250.
Boardshop is stoked to be a key partner for Lost surfboards across Europe and beyond. The staff here have surfed pretty much every board in the range at some time or another and we speak to surfers from all over the world and get their feedback on how the boards perform in all sorts of conditions so we're well placed to talk about all aspects of Lost Surfboards. We're happy to consider trading in your old board against a new board, so If you have any questions about this we'd be delighted to answer them and advise on any potential board choices or enquiries you might have, just drop us an email to info@boardshop.co.uk or call us on 0044 (0) 1243 674250.

Got a chance to demo one of these recently and had a lot of fun on it. Volume seems to be distributed very well. Just like you said nose diving isn't an issue. Seems like a great board for an average daily driver.

great review as usual! maybe easy to hide from the wife in the accountability part, more difficult with the board per se 🤣

Rented it out today and liked it. I'm trying to decide between this one, Lib Tech Crowd Killer or Hyptocrypto. I live in western Canada and surf in Vancouver Island ideally on waves around 4 ft - 7 ft. Any advice? Thanks!

Hi! All are great boards, and will be great in the conditons you will be surfing in. It all depends on how you want the board to ride... If you send us an email at info@boardshop.co.uk we can go from there.

Obvious question, how does it compare with a same length seaside and beyond?

Some else asked this. They are very different. More speed and performance in the Glydra
