Wow, Gaby's is a family owned Mexican restaurant and it's great; a few steps away is the Aroma Thyme Cafe which is also a delicious pub. I know people who drive there from Poughkeepsie for their Kobe beef burger. I have also been to theater presentations at the Shadowland Stages theater next to Gaby's. Some actors from Broadway perform there. I have seen excellent productions there. I make videos about why I love living in the NY Catskills. It's not perfect, but there is so much to offer. Ellenville also opened a Borsch Belt Museum about all the Jewish resorts in the Catskills in the 1940s-1980s. I make videos about life in the NY Catskills on my channel.
I hear you, brother. High crime, high drugs, a dead economy, depressed people. Continue onto 52/42 and come to Monticello, which is even worse. Of course, the weather sucks, it's NY State.
It's a mountain town just 30 minutes from the Hudson valley artery. Honestly not that bad as this guy made it sound like but lots of room for improvement.
Dude, what are you talking about, I love Gaby’s cafe its like the best restaurant in Ellenville. But also I think the point is there is a lot of fun stuff to do in the countryside around Ellenville, thats what that ad showed. The downtown is a bit run down, I’ll give you that.
Isn't Gaby's the ONLY restaurant in Ellenville? It looks like you are in the minority here as the only person who likes living there. Even the sales associate I spoke with in the Napanoch Walmart said she can't wait to join the Air Force to get out!
@@conan1982 its the only restaurant open in the daytime. I dont live there though, I just have a mountain cabin near by. Its the surrounding area thats nice, although thw town has potential…
Oh, and Ben Hedges, looking at your UA-cam channel you look like a typical financial scammer. Do you possibly hold any business interests in Ellenville, by the way?
If they ever offer Assisted Suicide in Ellenville, I just may do as you said -- to die, as I'm a Senior (and may want to check-out early). Am in TX now, but may go back to CO or to FL in the future for my "forever home" -- but you DO make Ellenville sound like a great place to move to as well. ;-) -- BR
Low income housing right around the corner and then the chosen people on top of that , I call it felonville , shoprite , Burger King and Pizza Hut closed and the diner
there are plenty of areas in NYS that are nice. The Adirondacks are very nice! Rhinebeck is wonderful, just went to Beacon ( Beacon Farmers Market & Beacon Flea Market ) two separate events. I always found Lake Placid nice. Many hiking trails, many State parks, camping, Lake George , Lake Champlain, the Long Island Shore. It’s a big State, get out there plenty to see.
@@dojocho1894 That's good to know. While I basically grew up, from the age of seven to eighteen in Manhattan and The Bronx, from my experience, and others I know who lived elsewhere in the state, most areas of New York were nicer places to live than they are now.
Agreed. Texas is a sh*thole. A HUGE sh*thole to be exact. Meanwhile that gimp Abbott would have us thinking otherwise as he tools around on his Hot Wheels chair. 🦼
I did look it up and apparently there are statues of two Nazi collaborators, Stepan Bandera & Roman Shukhevych, and according to The Forward, "...in total, they helped massacre thousands of Jews & 70,000-100,000 Poles". @@dojocho1894 That's exactly what the steel mills and industry was to Western Pennsylvania up until the mid to late 1970s. Once they were closed the surrounding towns of South Heights and Ambridge where my father's family were born, grew up, went to school and worked for at least two generations, became desolate ghost towns. It's depressing and sad what has become of our country.
My friend has been living close by in the town of Napanoch for several years, and this is where the once a day (and no weekends) bus that is closest to his home stops. Having driven up there a few times with a friend of ours, on one occasion, in doing a search for a coffee shop after seeing the closest diner was shuttered and closed, we were directed to what looked like a general store out of the 1960s that had an urn of (terrible) coffee up front. At no point that we've ever gone up there over the past decade has anything changed for the better, so yeah, going there to die is the only reason to ever visit that town.

Thank you! He missed out not walking down to Cohens Bakery or Shadowlands.

What a breath of fresh air! Jeff is a true New Yorker.
Do I miss those days? Nah.
It sucked back then, and it still sucks now even if a different way.
Yeah, I can't imagine, if this is what small-town Hudson Valley is like now, what it was like back then. I'll stick to the city, thanks.

Hey, haven't you ever heard the saying "if you nothing nice to say, keep your mouth shut!" I'm sure you wouldn't want someone to bash YOUR town!
Now, be nice Thomas. This is still America and expressing your views, while also showing the realities that exist here is still permitted.

Anytown USA is kind of a hell hole to be fair.
