Better to stay at home during the holidays .There are always problems and It costs double.
Very true

They have too much spare money😂😂
Exactly. It's winter. Stay in and eat chocolates. Bang a bottle of Bailey's

I’m going to call it early. The maintenance contract on the pipe or whatever it was that burst, was awarded to a company owned by a mate of someone in government who went to Eton with them. The owner is also probably a Lord, who has given £500k to the Tories… and has shadowy ties to the Russians… could be wrong though!
Pipes burst all the time but cool story
Probably pretty close....
How could Boris and Khan be involved?
@@MartintheTinman I know! Just the way things are going at the moment!
Politicians lie and thieve all the time but cool story 👍
+1 to this comment. Tory privatisation is running this country into the ground.
This is how it gets done in this country;
It will take one week for a health and safety consultation.
Another week for a management 'brainstorming' session.
Another week to call the lads who can actually fix it.
Another week to asses the size of the job and inflate the costs involved.
Another week to 'get the right parts' and specialised team together.
Another week to actually fix the problem working five or six hours a day (obviously clocking off early on the Friday).
Another week for another health and safety visit.
And then the week after it might open again. Maybe.
has anyone asked baroness moan to put in a quote ??
😂She's gonna be too busy selling her possessions to cover her upcoming legal costs!@@paulnovak3864
7 weeks? 😮 Shockingly inefficient.
What? Isn't it already up and running again?
Idiots 😂
Tory made Turd Island, where nothing works anymore 🎉
Could have used Ashford International for a reduced service as it has a mainline connection to and from London
Even Ebbsfleet International which is literally on the other side of the Thames
Who goes to Disneyland in the dead of winter with miserable northern French weather?
I’d rent a cottage somewhere in the countryside make a fire and go for walks but hey that’s too boring for the holidays I guess.
Who said anything about Disneyland? Eurostar goes to Brussels Paris Amsterdam Rotterdam… ?
@@ZoeMarie881 he's referring to the two women wearing Minnie Mouse headbands
I'm confused, what has failing tunnel infrastructure under the Thames in Londonistan got to do with winter weather?
The tunnel is between KENT AND ESSEX not London.
The rain flooded into the main line tunnel, duh?
Most likely storm water
@@nigelanscombe8658no it's Kent to London Stations
In a storm water drain that burst
This sure does happen a lot in the UK! 😢
Someone needs to tell Thames water!
I bet Uber have capitalised on this moment, the surge charges is going to be astronomical
also, hotels and last-minute flights will overcharge them.
But the Russians didn't even set off a Depth Charge above the Tunnel to collapse it with some frogmen like the Americans did with the Nordstream 1 and 2 undersea gas pipelines!
If the problem is the tunnel under the River Thames, why don't they operate from Ashford? It has International facilities and Eurostar tickets could be accepted on the Underground and on services from Victoria and Charing Cross to get passengers to Ashford. This would get passengers on their way and save Eurostar a lot of money in compensation/ hotel/ alternative travel expenses.
It may have “facilities” but that doesn’t mean it has any staff nor that the existing equipment still works after standing unused for a few years. That’s assuming the equipment is still all there.
Because that might make sense, and we cant have that...
@@CJones-99 what doesn’t make sense is assuming that a station with lots of electrical and electro-mechanical equipment, that has been closed for .. 3 years now is it and likely not maintained, will still work.
Chances are they’ve forgotten the system passwords and lost the keys to the lavatories too.
@@nigelanscombe8658 Apparently they're planning on resuming International services from Ashford in the future so I'm guessing the equipment will still be there. Maybe they could transfer some of the St. Pancras staff to Ashford for the benefit of this exercise. In any case they could run services from the Continent to the UK as no checks are necessary on arrival in the UK so they could be flexible as to which station(s) they run the UK-bound services to.
If they hadn't shut down Ebbsfleet, they could have turned the trains around there
How often do they conduct maintenence checks?
i think Brunel went and checked in 1835
1:51 That's not what the graph shows. It shows 200% of the average (i.e. 100% more rain).
It says “200% of the average”. 100% more would be double 200% is two times the average
@@Deadlife111100% of average is the same amount as the average. They should have used +/- to be clear.
Doesn't help they've used a hyphen which at first glance looks to be a negative.
So,the OP is correct to say 200% of the average is double. And also the graph doesn't tally with what they appear to be saying.
Agreed, commentator/newsreader says its 200% more rain, when graph shows as 200% of average, that is 100% more than average (which would have been 100% of average, and probably not newsworthy)
@@stephenlee5929No. +100% of average is double. 100% of average is the same.
They may have to move the Eurostar terminal from St Pancras back to Waterloogged.
They simply can't because the UK chose to use a 3rd rail for rail electrification on main lines, unlike the rest of Europe.
What about all the poor young men refugees who can’t make it across the channel to the UK, must be ruining their new year. My heart goes out to them…/sarc

Rishi is organising emergency flights with the RAF for them...
Ferries are so great.
When it storms? Not really.
Far too dangerous to go by ferry. They're probably in dock anyway
I love Ferraris too
Funny how it happens during the holiday season? Christmas, school..🤔
No it isn't. Winter is very wet
So what your saying is the met office are getting faster and good at naming wind and rain ? LOL
All trains cancelled, but dinghy's are still running on schedule........ They're free to use too!!
They tuk our jahhhbbsss! 😫
And a freebie pizza on arrival.
My Question is, why could`nt Euro star run between France and EbbsFleet / Ashford International stations, then passengers could use local services from Ashford to travel to/from London.
Probably because Ebbsfleet International / Ashford International stations were mothballed during Covid and likely haven’t been maintained since they were not in use.
There will be no Customs staff there and potentially no working equipment for them to use.
It also assumes that the track and points into the disused International parts of the stations are working and safe to use.
Having spent forty years working as a signalman in Kent and the last Twenty years in Ashford IECC with CTRL/Euro star, I`m glad I retired eight years ago..its all about money....... @@nigelanscombe8658
so with the channel tunnel flooded does that mean more illegal small boats arriving ?
The Channel tunnel isn't flooded.
Things can only get better in Rishi Sunaks UK.
Just dont hold your breath.
Blaming the Government for a leaked pipe: *Peak British Intelligence*
But at least he told Harry he had the wrong number!
Theyll have to get a dinghy. They're still running.
I don't get it, to at least get trains to and from the uk, why haven't they used ebbsfleet and Ashford as temporary terminals? Would've at least minimized some disruption, but no. Sometimes I think those higher up like disruption, and enjoy the misery it brings to people.
Weird how come wind and snow can stop transport in the UK when Csnada and Scandinavia live with snow easily......the UK cannot cooe with any type of weather.........Happy NY
Why can’t they get that pipe sorted as soon as possible.
They should be prepared for these situations ,fires and floods, smoke and gases and things,
They are.
@@nicolad8822 doesn’t look like it?
It was due to Thames Water not investing in infrastructure....they caused the flooding not the storm.
😊 how it goes 😊 god bless!
Why can they not send the passengers to Dover and re-route them by ferry? It is completely unacceptable that an international train operator can simply say 'all trains cancelled' and abandon the passengers.
It has sadly become the norm, any cancellation is shrugged off and of no consequence to them. I have a two stop and 5 mile journey to make on EMR , in 6 weeks I have had to cycle to work 7 times in the pissing rain due to cancellations
All deliberate!!
How ? Scotland flooding now !
What Brits wouldn't do or pay to flee from GB...
I can understand people wanting to get out of The Great Stink, but why want to get into it ?
Makes me wonder why I moved to Australia
As if the weather there is any better, in fact far more issues than the UK. Extreme heat, drought then flood, tropical storms, bush fires encroaching on the cities.
So will it be cheaper to move Euston Station south of the River Thames in Londonistan or dig another tunnel under the Thames, as it looks like the one they have is about to be condemned?
Pipes can be fixed, FFS
Give the France a bit off what they do when they when they we're on strike

Rubber boats from Dover - seem normal way of travelling these days RNLI taxi boat ?
It really is time we lost the "Great" in "Great Britain" its beyond embarrassing!
Not fair, how are the asylum seekers getting home for New Year?
What we used to call Gales and wintry weather now gets a name and the term storm. With all that is going on elsewhere in our once stable British society it does not surprise me at all to see even the weather politicised.
I'll join that game by wondering if during the next ice age we Brits might get in rubber boats and invade Africa and the middle east.
Won't be water to float your boat, that's why it's called an ice age

Why do people plan to travel on the busiest days of the year? It baffles me. Plan ahead, get there a day or two early, relax at the hotel/friend's place, then enjoy the holiday without travel worries. All it takes it some foresight and planning.
If they didn't travel on those days then they wouldn't be the busiest days of the year, would they?
@@Thomas828 Majority do without thinking. A little planning can save money and other troubles. I have enjoyed Christmas in Paris because I did NOT travel on or before christmas eve. Got there earlier.
Umm. If everyone did that wouldn't the day before the busiest day become the busiest day!?
