I have a soft spot for Cuatro because I got that CD for free by accident through Columbia House and that's how I discovered the band! Double Zero and Secret Square are probably my favorite tracks.
i must admit i haven’t heard a lot of their middle discography, but the last few have all been really solid and doomsday for the deceiver is easily a top 20 thrash album of all time. such an underrated band 🤘🏽
Doomsday for the Deceiver is a classic, the only album to feature Jason Newsted before he join Metallica. Also, No Place for Disgrace and When The Storm Comes Down are amazing as well
Interesting you mentioned Soundgarden during the Drift album, because Chris Cornell actually has writing credits on Cuatro. Anyway, my favorites from each of those albums, respectively, are Smoked Out and Wading Through the Darkness.
I wholeheartedly agree with your choices. Amazingly, their last three were very well produced and thrashing for recent productions. Most bands’ production these days are too flat and heavily down-tuned.

I have to admit, I enjoy all of your videos and will now add Flotsam and Jetsam to my Spotify playlist. I am not all that familiar with them, but I know they are one of your favorite bands. The comment about the album "When the Storm Comes Down " about it sounding like "And Justice For All" except for the BASS was funny👍🤘
Very underrated band it sucks that people just know them mainly for Jason newstead and I think doomsday and the deceiver is Jason's best album he's played on
Never heard about this band, until they were mentioned alongside Carnivore in Peter Steele’s biography, a good band indeed. Found out about bands like Whiplash too and others because of that book
@@RuthlessMetalYT like most people, too lazy to type out any album title more than 3 words long But yeah, too many people overlooked that album. The production on the drums and bass wasn't perfect like NPFD, but the songs had better variety.
Nice video. Doomsday is great, but no place is my favorite, maybe because I heard it first. I saw them live in Boston when they were supporting High. Great show. I haven't heard most of their 90's stuff, but I thought High was ok. Erik AK is awesome and very underrated. I never knew they went back to their thrash sound. I'm going to check out those more recent albums. One thing though......I did not like that re-recording of No Place for Disgrace. I'm not sure what the point of that was. It was just slower and Erik didn't really hit and sustain the high notes. \m/
Yeah the nineties stuff had a lot of ups and downs, check out cuatro if you can handle some melody. Yeah, re-recordings should be banned because it always turn out sounding worse than the original. Cheers! 🤘🏻
Don't have a ranking as I don't own all of their albums, but just like alot of the bands in my collection, my first is usually my favorite. In F&J, for me it's Cuatro. I love the dynamics on it, blending brutal speed and heaviness with the softer, quirkier bits, also kinda cozying up to grunge with a co-write with Chris Cornell (interesting collaboration). Just a great album in my opinion.
"Suffer the masses" will always remind me of those last few years spent going to high school way waaaaaaaaay back in the day, lol. Listening to that song gives me a nostalgic vibe every time, it was the end of a truly incredible era as the 80's were coming to a close. The main riff on that track was so fckn HEAVY and I absolutely loved it... couldn't get enough. You could make it even heavier with the right sound system, listening to that one on a car stereo really brought out the low-end without sacrificing the crisp tones on the other side of the spectrum. We've got different tastes when it comes to mixing falsetto with thrash though, it just doesn't seem to mesh that well for me. It definitely has its place, but I've never cared much for falsetto vocals on a thrash track. That style is best suited for the King himself in my humble opinion... King Diamond will always wear that crown in my mind. Great video brother, keep 'em coming! 🤘🏻☠️🤘🏻
@@RuthlessMetalYT As is most other material from the 80s. Commenting as I'm watching, I'm VERY excited to check this video out. Flot is a band that has always been at the wrong place at the wrong time in terms of musical styles but they have a lot of absolutely incredible albums. Drift, to me, is the best groove metal album there is!

Playing marbles with Yahweh . From the one of the song descriptions of the album When the Storm Comes Down. Even though I am not crazy about When the Storm Comes Down, it remains the only Flotsam and Jetsam that I have ever bought new. I remember that other than Annihilator it was the only album that I have ever seen where not only was a lyric sheet included, but also contained little sections above each song title that sort of gave a history and description to what inspired the songs. I have always had a hard time finding a copy of No Place for Disgrace. Friends would record it for me through the years. Even though overall I would consider both Doomsday For the Deceiver and When the Storm Comes Down to be Heavier than No Place For Disgrace in different ways. I think that NE Terror is definitely not only the Heaviest Flotsam and Jetsam song, but also among the Heaviest songs of all time . It's been years since I've heard When the Storm Comes Down maybe I should listen to it again, I just found a CD of Doomsday For the Deceiver at a Pawn shop last year, it was better than I remember it being. Love Eric AK's Halford style screams , but overall Doomsday is lacking a good mid tempo song. Most of the album is fast and faster
@@RuthlessMetalYT I like the debut a lot, I just don't quite enjoy it as much as No Place for Disgrace. I thought that Flotsam and Jetsam should have been huge on the strength of their first 2 albums. I just wish that they would have continued on the same musical path. Probably my all time favorite Thrash Metal band. I prefer NWOBHM style Traditional Metal, but Flotsam and Jetsam, and the Forbidden debut have enough of those elements to enjoy them as much as Axe Witch, Silver Mountain, Gotham City and Saxon. The End Of Chaos 4. Blood In The Water 3. No Place For Disgrace 2. Doomsday For The Deceiver 1. When The Storm Comes Down
I saw this band live twice in 1999 at the Mason Jar in Phoenix AZ where I was living at the time. I listened to No Place For Disgrace 10 years prior when I was in the 8'th grade. I was really into the Cuatro album when I heard some of it on the Metal Shop radio show before it was even released.
After Quattro, I lost interest, but the most recent couple of albums, THEY'RE BACK! I saw them back in 93 in Houston Texas USA and they kicked ass. Saw them again with James Rivera on vocals and he butchered every song.
Hey Man, I really like your taste in thrash and I was wondering if you could make a Video about the best Thrash records released after 2000? Maybe a Top 20, or a Top 10 by the Oldschool Bands and a Top 10 by Bands of the new wave of thrash... I mean, there are not many "great" records that come to my mind, M-16 was pretty good, Power Trips "Nightmare Logic" is great and I liked "The Evolution of Chaos" by Heathen.... something along those lines. And another question, have you heard of Teutonic Thrashers "Pessimist" ? My friend is the guitarist there, good old War-themed teutonic thrash.. Check out the Song "Landsknecht"
@@RuthlessMetalYT yes, for me it is the same, but there have to be some decent albums in that endless amount of new thrash releases. Just like "The End of Chaos" on this list?
Even though I'm romantically more attached to When the Storm comes down (best thrashing sound !! for me) - Drift and The Cold. I agree with your ranking list. First three albums are ... masterpieces! Flot's 'till Death!
1. Doomsday for the Deceiver 2. When the Storm Comes Down 3. No Place for Disgrace 4. The End of Chaos 5. Blood in the Water 6. Flotsam and Jetsam 7. Cuatro 8. High 9. Drift 10. My God 11. Dreams of Death 12. Ugly Noise 13. The Cold 14. Unnatural Selection
my ranking 1. Cuatro 2. No Place For Disgrace 3. When the Storm Comes Down 4. Doomsday 5. Drift 6. My God 7. Flotsam and Jetsam 8. High 9. Blood In the Water 10. The End of Chaos 11. Unnatural Selection 12. Dreams of Death 13. The Cold 14. Ugly Noise
Even though I seen them live in 1985 in London and a few other times after that and loved their stuff I am ashamed to say that I don't own one album of them 😒
Wait,,,there were albums after DoomsDay For The Deceiver ??? :) Just a joke. Actually, the titles been on my mind lately. I did buy that though and dug it. Been ages since i heard it. Never paid attention later. Newkid was like the manager of that band from what i recall. Went thru the gauntlet with Metallica. No wonder his next project was called IR8. Now i'll watch the vid. Thanx in advance !
1. When The Storm Comes Down - only pure thrsh album F&J 2. Doomsday for the Deceiver 3. No Place For Disgrace 4. The Cold 5. My God 6. Drift 7. Dreams of Death 8. Cuatro 9. Ugly Noise 10. Blood In The Water 11. Flotsam and jetsam 12. The End of Chaos 13. High 14. Unnatural Sekection
I only have one criticism of their When the storm comes down album, and that it the tappy sound of the snare drum, I’d love to hear the album with a more traditional tuned metal snare.
@@RuthlessMetalYT I was wondering, have you ever listened to an Album from Australian thrash band Allegiance, called D.E.S.T.I.T.U.T.I.O.N. Circa 1994. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this album.
@@RuthlessMetalYT Indeed...this and the one after it drift are silimar. If you ask me I prefer this than Doomsday but that is just my taste. Shame it was not released on LP but only CD. A great record.
Bought "No Place" as soon as it came out and found the title track to be a very solid and memorable effort, but for whatever reason I never followed them since that time and barely made it through the rest of the album. I need to connect with a voice and Chuck Billy or Tom Araya just worked better for aggressive thrash

Cheers!
glad you decided to stick around, great video
I haven't decided that yet. I will do videos over this summer and after that we'll see. :)
After Quattro, I lost interest, but the most recent couple of albums, THEY'RE BACK! I saw them back in 93 in Houston Texas USA and they kicked ass. Saw them again with James Rivera on vocals and he butchered every song.
ah, You think James Rivera would do a great job. Cheers! 🤘🏻
Great video 🤘🏾keep up the good work 🍻 any chance we will see a Razor rank em all?
Not in the plans right now but they are definitely a band that I should get to sometime. Cheers!
Ask for my ranking. ? Just like Yours ! Nice job, man. ( Had to do my homework for 2 albums from the 2000s. I missed out )
Cheers!
We'll see, I mostly listen to older thrash, not that interested in newer bands unfortunately. ;) Cheers!
Cheers!
Flotsam are my absolute favourite band to go see live. Honestly their songs become 10 times better when they play em live, what a great band
I've never seen them live unfortunately but I live in the middle of nowhere. :S Cheers!

So many people forget that the Iron Maiden was actually a torture device. I wrote a song about the Iron Maiden many years ago
Yeah it's mostly just a metal band these days. :D 🥂
Even though I seen them live in 1985 in London and a few other times after that and loved their stuff I am ashamed to say that I don't own one album of them 😒
it's time. ;)
Also the re recorded of the 1st 2 lps that they did are also BAD ASS as well!!
Cheers!
IT will be a new flotsam and jetsam album called i am the weapon which comes out september this year
The Cold is a phenomenal album throughout, if you can accept it as a heavy metal record and not a thrash record. NPFD is my favorite though.
🥂
One of my favorite bands! I have translated one of their songs on my other channel ❤
🥂
I love the last three albums. I’m going to see them in two weeks with Hypocrisy!
Nice, have fun!
Got Doomsday when it came out. I was so excited when I heard JN joined Metallica. The bass tone was so good. Then AJFA had no bass. Go figure.
haha. fail. :D Cheers!
Wait,,,there were albums after DoomsDay For The Deceiver ??? :)
Just a joke.
Don't forget about No Place For Disgrace, it's amazing too!
You should do a list of the lightest to heaviest exumer albums
the first one is superior to anything they ever did. Cheers!
Finally you listened to me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hehe cheers!
1. When The Storm Comes Down - only pure thrsh album F&J
2. Doomsday for the Deceiver

8. Cuatro
9. Ugly Noise

12. The End of Chaos

I only have one criticism of their When the storm comes down album, and that it the tappy sound of the snare drum, I’d love to hear the album with a more traditional tuned metal snare.
yeah it has a bit of that 90's sound. Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT I was wondering, have you ever listened to an Album from Australian thrash band Allegiance, called D.E.S.T.I.T.U.T.I.O.N. Circa 1994. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this album.
I am listening to Cuatro a lot these days! It is very good! Kinda like it.
I listened to it a lot a long time ago. It's very typical of it's time when the thrash bands slowed down.
@@RuthlessMetalYT Indeed...this and the one after it drift are silimar. If you ask me I prefer this than Doomsday but that is just my taste. Shame it was not released on LP but only CD. A great record.
@@danaeloucaidou4991 nah, doomsday is just so energetic, I love it. :D
Seen them live end of chaos tour great show looking forward to seeing them again
Cheers!
Drift is awesome. Sonically it sounds amazing.
yes, but it's almost a rock album. Cheers!
I can't argue with #1 and #2 as they're the only F&J albums that I own.
Yeah those are the best for sure, but the three latest are really good. Cheers!
Rankzilla! 😆😅🤣🤘 awesome
cheers
I tend to really like the 90s albums, the only 80s album I would put over those would be "No Place for Disgrace"
Yeah I like some of 'em even if they aren't that metallic. :D Cheers!
What about RAZOR ? Would be great to hear Your opinion on this alltime underdogs from Canada.
I've definitely thought of it, but we'll see. I'll probably lay a bit low during the summer. Cheers!
Game Over is a Thrash masterpiece!
Yes Sir!
1. When the storm comes down
Cheers!
Bought "No Place" as soon as it came out and found the title track to be a very solid and memorable effort, but for whatever reason I never followed them since that time and barely made it through the rest of the album. I need to connect with a voice and Chuck Billy or Tom Araya just worked better for aggressive thrash
yeah he is just another type of vocalist, but I prefer Eric AK to most thrash vocalists. hehe Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT idea for your next video: top 5 vocalists in thrash, I don't think there are 10!
No Place for disgrace is definitely my favorite
Cheers! 👍
Ruthless have you ever listened to the band Transmetal?
yes, mexican thrashers. :)
Drift is the best album period!!!
I guess, because I have been a fan from day one, All of the albums hit at a specific time in my life and Erik always speaks to me personally.
Cheers!
I Am The Weapon just came out not too long ago
yes sir, haven't really checked it out yet. grew a bit tired of flotsam even if they are one of my favourites or were.
Another Metal band that escapes criticism for "selling out." It only applies to Metallica.
Doomsday For The Deciver is my number one!
Hehe, yeah most thrash bands went soft in the 90's. But I rather spin Cuatro and Drift over Load and Re-Load. :D Cheers!
@@RuthlessMetalYT I love Load and ReLoad. To each their own. Cheers, Jim! 🍻
The only album I didn't really like was Unnatural Selection
Cheers!
Doomsday one of best thrash metal album of all times. They never got close to the quality of this album again
No Place For Disgrace is pretty awesome too.
