I have very limited knowledge of scales and theory so if I have named these scales wrong feel free to correct with the proper names. More importantly though I wanted to share the concept of adding different flavors to your playing. Thanks!
@@TheDistortionPrincipleI only like their shit with Adrian Belew ( who, BTW, is touring with Tony Levin (bass), Steve Vai, and that drummer from TOOL playing King Crimson tunes - think they're calling it "BEAT"🤔)
@@mikeharris4310 i wish. I fell into not minding my own business and sold all my bc rich when the brand was doing the iconic brand dirty and regretted it ever since. Luckily i made almost every dollar back when i sold them
@@TheDistortionPrinciple melodic minor is not technically a scale unto itself and primarily associated with jazz as well as some flamenco and klezmer music, which I picked up largely from playing jazz in college. All it means is that if the melody is descending, you use the flat 6 and 7 like natural minor, and if it’s ascending you use the raised 6 and 7, so if you’re in E moving to B you’d use E-D-C-B, and back up B-C#-D#-E. I like using it for bluesy legato descents followed by higher energy move back the neck. When alternating between that Phrygian or Locrian licks you can get some really interesting chromatic stuff going on.
I seen Municipal Waste support Cannibal Corpse the other week, they were a lot of fun, sounded awesome, i walked out 3 songs into Cannibal though, not for me, the sound was very dirty, very busy n so loud it wasn't worth staying, thats a first for me n i've seen Eminem 😂 couldn't make out the riffs in all the white/shite noise haha
@@TheDistortionPrinciple Not got a clue, they had 4 Messa Boogie stacks behind them, Municipal sounded great though, it was a party, a thrash party haha
@@TheDistortionPrinciple If you have the chance go for it, you won't regret it, I've seen them twice but both times were because my friend n nephew wanted to see them n they have a great vibe, total fun, balls to the wall Thrash goodness, better live than on the albums I think 👍

I tend to use a mix of Phrygian and Melodic Minor for my thrashier writing.
@@AJ-wh1tw ive used phrygian not sure about melodic minor. Gonna check it out after work
