In that case, it takes the true meaning out of it. Vo du means free people or nation in the Evwheh / Fon language.
The English and the French had forked up many local names across Africa by robbing them out of their true meanings, one such name is Asante which many people had come to know as "Ashanti"
While out there trying to learn, ask the people about how do they write their Evwheh/fon language.
