    Thank you for the video. Well done. I'm not getting any code I just have a power steering leak and traced it to the sensor itself, so Ill replace it.Thanks again for taking the time to post.

    You can do what I did...replace the PS switch first, then drive the truck for 6 months or so with the bad oxygen sensor. The fluid will leak out and burn off of the harness in the time. Then, you can replace the oxygen sensor and there will be no fluid left in the harness to damage it.

    Take a look around 0:50 seconds in the video. There is a connector with wires comming off of it you need to remove. There is proboably a tab you need to squeeze to unlock the connector as you pull it off. A factory service manual or Haynes manual may have picuters that will illustrate how to remove the connector.

    It may not be a bad idea to change your fluid if it has never been changed. I replaced a metal power steering line that had rotted out a few months ago and changed my fluid then. So when I replaced the sensor, I just topped off the fluid.

    i have to agree with Daniel i all so had this problem a cupple months back win i replaced the motor.. How did you remove the old sensor? You showed it in the car, then in the house, so I can't tell what happened in between. It appears you have to disconnect something that snaps over the top before unscrewing the old part. Can you explain the removal process?

    i have already replaced my PCM once from Overheating it. for the shorting out of the oil in the wires i guess. they don't sell the wire harness any more so i think i will have to cut and splice some new wires into the harness. dealership wants $1300.00 just to change out the wire harness. Just FYI: if you have this truck i think you should make some cuts in the wires at the power steering Pressure switch BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS SO IT CAN'T BACK SUCK THE OIL TO THE PCM

    I guess I caught my leak early enough so fluid didn't wick into the entire harness....haven't had any of the problems you describe.

    ye, butt my question is why does the electrical connector have a hole in it and why is it leaking oil from it :( and whats the use of that hole except for pissin out oil

    took it to dodge dealership told me that it was the power steering pressure sensor back feeding oil to the PCM. this is a major problem and i think we should get together to get this part recalled. i think they have to have a 100 people to complain before they do a recall. Someone else said to do a solder dame after the pressure sensor so the oil does not back feed. sounds good to me but what do i do with the wire harness with oil already in it. some one need to do a video on the fix plz

    The power steering switch and the o2 sensor are a connected issue if you are getting both these codes do a Google search and read some forums about this issue. Basically the power steering fluid comming out of the ps switch is actually flowing thru the wires down to the o2 sensor it very frustrating...

    I am seeing a pattern on parts for my Dodge Dakota, and I presume most Mopar parts--unavailable as an aftermarket part. This is the Honda business model, selling proprietary repair.replacement parts at a premium price. Flasher-can for an '01 Chevy truck, generic price $9. Same combined turn signal/hazard warning flasher from Mopar, $82.

    Just replaced my censor with the check engine code p0551 but the check engine light does not seam to go away any advice?

    • @SevenFortyOne
      @SevenFortyOne  10 років тому

      The light might not go away on its own right away, you may have to clear it using the code reader tool. If you've already done that, then you may have another leak in the system. Check under the truck where the lines cross under the engine. Mine rotted there a few years ago and needed to be replaced. You could also have some air trapped in the system which should bleed itself out after some use. Keep an eye on your fluid level and see if ti drops...
