    So this is functionally identical to the elusive shapeoko touch plate? Awesome!

    A magnet instead of the dumb alligator clips! Whoever thought of that deserves a raise Andy

    Just used mine and works great BUT!!! noob here remember to move the cable off the track :( rolled over them and squashed them. It still works but i have to play with the cable a bit trying to figure out how to replace the cable. Thanks for the vid got working after a few minutes on Gsender.

    I was watching this while my gf called. I had to stop it for obvious reasons, the background music is straight from a porn movie...

    Works pretty good! Only difference for me to make it work was by *directly sticking the magnet onto the bit * instead of the chuck-nut on my Ridgid (#24012) router or else the bit was digging into the plate :(

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Muthu, it might be that the paint on your chuck nut is too thick to let a signal through. Putting it on the bit is a good idea if you can't get it to conduct.

      @@SienciLabs its a bit precarious to stick it on 1/8" bits so I might go for croc-clips instead of magnet. BTW please update your instruction wiki.

    I must of missed something. Doesn't the touch plate wall thickness for x & y and z thickness need to be measured and put into the touch plate settings first?

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  2 роки тому

      If you want an added level of accuracy you can certainly measure the plate and input those values. Normally they're made quite precisely so if you don't have precise measuring equipment then the default values will suffice 👍

    Having trouble with mine, did all the setting but when I return it back to zero it goes below the space by 1/2 or so. Have to move my piece or it will want to break through it. Need some help.

    Do I need to convert these settings over to inches? In the probe module tab under settings I have it set to mm and then I entered these numbers but in the jog controller and my gcodes I have it set to inches. Will that conflict with each other and mess things up?

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  3 роки тому

      There IS a bug that we reported to the UGS team where there can cause issues if the probe settings are in mm and the jogging is in inches, you can see the fix for it here: sienci.com/dmx-longmill/troubleshooting/#My_bit_is_crashing_into_the_touch_plate
      If you'd like to set up probing for yourself in inches rather than mm then this should avoid that issue happening 👍

      Hi Dave, you can adjust the speed that the end mill travels by changing your fast and slow find feed rate on the settings. More info here: sienci.com/dmx-longmill/touch-plates/

    How do you get the probe module setting in UGS?
    Thanks,
    Gary

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  3 роки тому

      Hi Gary, you should be able to make it visible by looking at the tip bar and clicking on 'Window' then I believe 'additional plugins' then you'll see the option for probing

    Sorry, I am new to this. I cannot get the Touch plate to set up properly with Gsender’s touch plate function. It seems I am not understanding the step about the green light and the software instruction is not clear to me. Any help please?

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  3 роки тому

      Hi Eric, if you've got the touch plate set up correctly you should be seeing the green light pop up when you go to probe in gSender. If you don't, that will be an indication that you might have a wire loose. You can check the last point here: resources.sienci.com/view/lm-troubleshooting/#my-bit-is-crashing-into-the-touch-plate for more info

      @@SienciLabs Thank you Chris, I did as suggested in your video, I have cut the wire end, stripped it bare and reconnected, with the red wire plugged on the Probe side. Still nothing when I touch the bit with the probe, it stays red.

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  3 роки тому

      Eric, would you happen to have a multimeter on hand? If so I would suggest using it in continuity mode or resistance mode and checking between the green connector and the plate, then the green connector and the magnet to see if they're both conducting properly. If the resistance is infinite then there will still be a connection issue, if it's high then your touch plate might be conducting poorly and you could try to scuff it up a little bit. Let me know if I can help any more.

    does it take into account that space between the flutes?

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  4 роки тому

      If you have the end mill and touch plate set up correctly, because of the spiral twist of the flute, there will be a point along the twist where it will contact the touch plate.

      Sienci Labs great! Thank you so much for getting back to me. Any idea what pin? Or do you just pick any open input pin on the Arduino and then tweak the code with the number of the new output pin you use? Really enjoying my Mill One! 🤙

    This guy that smokes to much is the worse. What program are you plugging the values into?

    • @SienciLabs
      @SienciLabs  2 роки тому +1

      These values are being put into UGS. If you're using gSender then no setup is required, and if you're using another g-code sender then you'll just have to cross-reference with the values that the program expects.
