I love your hair and our textures are similar! Mine is just high porosity and shoulder length. Could you do a video of all of the simple low maintenance hairstyles that were your go to when growing your hair? I have a simple routine but I feel like it’s maybe my hairstyles that are the reason my hair breaks a little more than I would like.
Hey there! Thank you and yes I’ll definitely do a video on that in the future, that is a very important part of hair growth and I also love very simple routines 💗
These are great suggestions, sis! I know hair grows, but it feels like my hair is stuck in a "stunted" stage right now. Since 2012, when I first went natural, I've shaved my head multiple times. I am talking buzz cut. I stopped shaving my head in 2019, and though I've been slowly letting my natural hair grow out, it's been stuck around neck length for the better part of two years. I keep my hair care routine simple, and I've recently been trying out protective styles like cornrows and two-strand twists. In the shower, I shampoo, condition and detangle. I use Design Essentials Almond and Avocado shampoo and conditioner. I noticed a few grey hairs, so I've been using Clairol Professional Semi-Permanent Moisturizing Hair Color to cover them up. 😬 My hair is always well-moisturized. This has been a journey in learning through trial and error. I am curious to find out what aspects of my hair care routine could be improved upon or expanded upon.
Thank you for your kind words💗 Hair plateaus can be so frustrating, I can relate. So, generally when hair is getting stuck at a certain length, there may be a few things at play. One, might be friction (the ends constantly rubbing against harsh clothing and snapping. Two, maybe not enough moisture ( sometimes saturating natural hair daily in the shower with a lot of conditioner can fix this). Three, some sort of over manipulation that the hair doesn’t like (this can be a host of things) . Sometimes plateaus can be a mixture of all three and unless you troubleshoot each one we won’t know. I remember knowing exactly what my hair needed when I started noticing the change in softness and the easiness with washing and detangling.
Honestly, I realized it was much more time efficient to use my regular conditioner as a leave in when I’d style my hair in the shower. When I’d go back the next time to wash my hair, my hair would be so soft and easy to detangle and well moisturized. After observing my hair continue to grow without any problems and also hearing sort of the same observations from other naturals who realized it wasn’t “necessary” I just continued to do me and it’s worked💗

Just found you from reddit!! I wish you the best on your youtube journey!!❤😊

When did you realize u could stop deep conditioning your hair after shampooing?
