    When everybody starts driving EVs then, the firefighter should have quite a few of these in their fire trucks, about 1000 blankets at least, or more...

  • @foreverealm
    @foreverealm Рік тому +7

    Yes. They kept reigniting after Hurricane Ian. The burn temperature is much higher and more dangerous.

    Just imagine when you get 100,000 at a selvage yard and one starts burning, you'll have 30 acres of toxic fire and smoke that you can't put out.

    • @ibsn87
      @ibsn87 Рік тому +4

      Last time I checked. When a normal car goes to a salvage yard, you remove the petrol. In this case, someone with half a brain can remove the battery and store it appropriately before placing the car in the yard. Adults can come up with solutions, children stand and complain.
      Not like salvage yards haven’t been set fire in the past, resulting in 30 acres of toxic smoke 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @dmead4106
      @dmead4106 Рік тому

      @Jack you have less than half a brain it's not a normal car .it's an electric car, and you just can't remove the battery. That easy. the cost for the savage yard to remove it is much higher than they can get for the savage. Just like the windmill. If you don't think so, look up the mountains of them they have in Denmark. But you just keep drinking the green Kool-Aid

  • @dmead4106
    @dmead4106 Рік тому +9

    So the batteries are so in closed that they have to use a blanket to keep air out. And still they start on fie 3 days later. So you want to put that in your garage . These cars won't last 7 years. if you have to use them every day. The batteries will fail, and their not covered by warranty. 15 to 35,ooo to replace

      Yep we’re not ready for EVs yet. Just doesn’t make sense forcing that on everyone. But of course they will still try

      There are millions of EVs in the world. Fires are 60 to 1 chance for EV vs ICE. Facts. It is not a big thing. But when it does start, it is in fact hard to put out. They will solve it

    500 gallons and a few minutes tp put out a normal car fire vs 30,000 gallons of water (couple swimming pools full worth) to put out an EV fire and that can burn for 4 to 6 hours and then reignite again. Well at least the fire blanket is a step in the right direction 🔥

      Its Not about the fire burn time and water usage... its about how dumb our society is, thinking a swimming pools worth of water will even do anything to a Chemical fire? wtf.. this is about a globally Failed education system. No one has any basic chemistry knowledge. idiots.. It's amazing..this one fire chief figured this out.

    I thought it was moronic to put water on a battery fire. I would have thought they'd use foam. Even fire extinguishers are customized to use against different types of fires. Absolutely BASIC. Just like putting a lid on a grease fire pan......ISN"T IT???

      Batteries are self sustaining and creates its own oxygen :D now your electrical outlet fire, the current cuts off as soon as the wire melts its way. Battery fire runs for a very long time, EVs which has thousands of these batteries will stay on fire for days

    or just don't load a car up with highly volatile elements like lithium ion that are difficult to deal with. Just use liquid methane in place of gasoline. It's already used as a fuel for shipping and some trucking.

  • @palebluedot747
    @palebluedot747 Рік тому +1

    Blanket has no effect other than to help contain noxious and highly toxic fumes. The chemical composition of the batteries mean that it produces its own oxygen for combustion. Yes, limiting atmospheric oxygen is one way to help reduce severity but not if it ain't sealed.
    Firefighters are being asked to attend these fires in some cases without proper protection. These fires can end a career in minutes due to exposure to toxic fumes.

    • @ohmzen9695
      @ohmzen9695 8 місяців тому

      In the case of an electric bus All you would need is multiple Class C and Class D fire extinguishers. The blanket would not work. The failure is with most ALL fire departments NOT knowing how to put out a chemical fire.. They waste your tax dollars on spraying a swimming pools amount of water on a chemical fire. No common sense. idiots.
