- ✨Let’s take a DNA Test 🧬 ✨
I’m Guyanese, but I never get assumed I’m Guyanese on the first try! I always get mistaken for something else because my ancestry stems from other countries as well.
Especially being in the diaspora, I’ve always been intrigued as to where my DNA comes from, and now here’s my chance to find out with the @23andme DNA Test!
Stay tuned for Part 2 to see the results! 🤍
Thank you for sharing this, our story needs to be talked about more because not a lot of people know about the history. Excited to hear what your results are, maybe I should get one done too!
It definitely does so a lot more people are aware of all the slave trades that went on and the displaced families! I'm excited and nervous to see the results too!
Can’t wait to see part 2 of this ❤
Thank you beautiful! I have the results but I haven’t been able to film it just yet hopefully I can this week and post it! I’m excited to see what the results are too!
Oh wow, I never knew this happened! I’m excited to hear your results, thank you for sharing your story!
Thank you for watching! A lot of people aren't aware of the indentured servants and such going on especially int he Caribbean, so I'm very happy to share my story!

Neisha G, correction. The Indians didn’t come as slaves to the Guyana or the Caribbean. Saying that dilutes how the African slaves. The were kidnapped and forced on a ship. The Indians on the other hand came as indentured servants. Meaning that they had a contract for 5 yrs. After that 5 years, they can either stay or go back to India. Now, even though they came by trickery, given false information or of free will, they lived the same quarters that the former slaves lived in. The mud huts were called Logies. Living conditions weren’t any different from the former slaves. The only difference the Indians weren’t kept as property like the slaves. They had to work to earn their keep which wasn’t much by the end of the 5 yrs. Many chose to stay in Guyana because by that time they had families of their own or weren’t welcome back in their villages of India or had no money to show for their hard work or they could afford the ticket to sale back to India with their families. Some men went to the Caribbean and left their families behind only to never to return and their families were left behind in India. So, that the tragedy of the Indians who came to the Caribbean. However, we can not diminish the flight of the slaves that came to the Caribbean including Guyana. Theirs were far worse than the indentured servants. We can never say that Indians came as slaves. Never compare the two as the same. Btw, I am Indo- Guyanese. Our ancestry ranges from coming from Gujarat, Bangladesh, Punjab but not south India or northeast India. I can’t trace my ancestry because my maternal grandmother’s birth was never registered and she didn’t know her real birthdate. On my father’s side, he father left his mother when he was 3 yrs old so nothing is known about my paternal grandfather. My paternal grandmother’s birth was never registered.
I never diminished the value of the African slaves, none of that solitude was expressed in this video. Slaves is another word for indentured servants. They did arrive to work on sugar plantations, etc. The sole purpose of this video was merely to provide a summary of the history behind everything and it was never meant to go into any of that detail that you described. And again, as I previously said, there was a LOT OF MIGRATION happening during the 18th century and a lot of land ownership. Hence, you never know exactly where our ancestors traced from especially with my last name ranging to places in Afghanistan and India. "However, we can not diminish the flight of the slaves that came to the Caribbean including Guyana" you even used slaves in this sentence, so it is a mere synonym. We all come from a similar history and we cannot change or know exactly what went on during this time but share our story and support one another.

You DID say that Indians came as SLAVES. Are you denying the fact that words those words came out of your mouth? It’s on video. By the way, just calling indians SLAVES, you have indeed diminished the flight of slaves in the Caribbean. When I SAID, “However, we cannot diminish the flight of the slaves that came to the Caribbean including Guyana.” I was referring to the African slaves. Therefore, do not twist my words. Wrong, wrong, Slaves is NOT another word for indentured servants. It’s obvious you did not study Caribbean history at the CXC level. You were born and bred overseas. Now, you are making my blood boiled with your ignorance. Let me give you the definition. “indentured servants ultimately attained their freedom once they completed their contract, while enslaved people were permanently denied their freedom unless they could obtain the means to purchase themselves or successfully escape.” Your video was about your ancestry and that’s great however, when publishing information on a social media platform you need to be careful of how you use your words. That sentence alone that Indians came as slaves can trigger a massive onslaught of negative comments if you were a famous influencer. Own up and take accountability for what you said.

You DID say that Indians came as slaves to Guyana and other parts of the Caribbean. Now, you are denying it when it’s on video. Wrong, wrong, slaves don’t have the same meaning as indentured servants. 😂 Here is the meaning dear, “indentured servants ultimately attained their freedom once they completed their contract, while enslaved people were permanently denied their freedom unless they could obtain the means to purchase themselves or successfully escape.” When speaking on social media, you need to be very careful of your choice of words or else you will get an onslaught of negative comments if you were a famous influencer. Yes, your content was about your DNA but you made a grave mistake as well. When I said, However, we cannot diminish the flight (plight) of the slaves that came to the Caribbean including Guyana, “ you twisted my words. I was referring to African slaves. By just labeling Indians as slaves you have diminished the plight of the African slaves. You are true Guyanese even though you were bred overseas. You can never apologize for your mistake and move forward. That’s a true Guyanese right there. 😀
@@roja7426 What are you even arguing about? You said yourself you're Guyanese, why are you arguing over nothing and making something a big deal? You're twisting her words. She never once said anything about African slaves or diminished their means of any kind. You're recklessly attacking her for nothing after sharing why she's taking a DNA test is the means of a true Guyanese. Always need to argue over nothing. Slaves, indentured servants, captives, workers, they are all words with similar meanings and she didn't mean any harm. Your past is your past and there's no changing it. We are all displaced people who were brought to another country, have the SAME heritage, and now are thriving all over the world. End of story.
Indenlabourers were just a fancy wird 2 disguise slavery becos by then slavery was prohibited. But the conditions n treatment at the hands of the colonizers remained the same. Indo Fijian here n wat our ancestors went thru was hell. It's all documented if u want 2 know more.
Very nice, thank you for talking about it 😀
My pleasure 😊
Indian migrated to Guyana and the Caribbean as indentured , laborers, not slaves. Unlike the slaves, they were paid very little, but some money for their labor.
They’re the same thing, same working conditions, & some weren’t paid at all.
Never been to this channel before, but the first thing that came to mind when I first saw your video, is that you must be having some Persian ancestry.
I’ve never considered having Persian ancestry 😲
without even waiting for the results I can tell you who you are. You have DNA that is prevalent in both Africa, particularly north Africa, and India. Half of your DNA now traces to Africa and the other half to south India. You see, once upon a time, the land mass of India and Africa was joined together. Shift in the land caused them to separate. But the DNA still prevails.
We shall see what the results say!
Thank for sharing always curious about the dna of Indians
Of course! I’m curious as well because there’s no documentation to truly where my heritage originated from
I think you said "basically" like 30 times in 4 minutes lol ^_^
Yup! I did!
And Belize Iam half Indian from my mom bahadur surname
Oh that’s so cool!
Could u stop the BASICALLY......PLEASE😮
Why stop now?
You are an Indian beauty queen.

I got that maybe once, but there are simulators across cultures since we all used to be one while continent - Pangea
Incorrect information, please research what you’re saying. Indians came under indentureship.
Which is another term for slavery. Indentured servants, slavery, etc. No matter how you spin it, they were under horrible conditions working and taken from their home with false promises.
@@NeishaG I agree, the conditions were akin, but they weren't brought against their will. They were lied to and mistreated but came on their own accord.
Its a difference,please use d correct term.
@@lalbfamilyny.795 I did, the story is the same no matter how you spin it
