I bought that paper at Michael's this morning😂❤❤❤❤and I was wondering what to make with them and your video notification came in. Its a sign of the craft Gods😍😍😍😍😍. THANK YOU
If you want to organize your threads a little better, here's what I do: I take scrap squares of cardboard or heavy weight paperboard, cut two slits on opposite sides of the square, tuck one end into a slit, wrap the thread around it (around the not-cut sides) until it's all wound up, and then tuck the other end into the opposite slit. This keeps the thread from getting tangled up, and it's super easy to stack them and arrange them by color in a container. I have a little three-drawer holder for all my sewing stuff, and they sit upright so I can easily find whatever color I need, and I can arrange them by color in a pleasing little rainbow. The only downside is it can cause slight kinks in your thread, but if you stretch them out and relax them a little before use and don't wind them super tight, it shouldn't be too much of an issue. And thank you for the paper and binding recommendation! I love them both!
you can buy pre-made cards like this in the cross stitch section (at least in Australia). www.spotlightstores.com/sewing-fabrics/haberdashery/needles/birch-50-piece-plastic-floss-bobbins/BP80126693 same idea but less DIY!
I am also a bookmaker and I love this technique which is new to me. Thank you very much for this extremely well done instruction. I just finished making 7 books made in the shape of a paper doll, and completed with stamping (hand carved stamps), gelli printing, drawing, writing, and collage using hand made paper and more gelli prints, etc. for an upcoming juried show here. As soon as I recover I am planning to make this book. It is lovely.
If you only knew what a lifesaver this is for me. I cannot for the life of me sew in signatures in journals. They're always wonky. This is so cute and simple n fun. Thank you Jennifer
Thank you so much! I have learned so much watching your tutorials. I'm putting to use what I'm learning. I've made 2 books from this one video. I'm getting old and it's nice to see I can still learn something new and can make it actually turn out ok. I watch a lot of videos and am always wanting to learn new things. You make it very understandable. Thanks again.
really into the chain stitch, and i think you chose beautiful papers and patterns that compliment one another so it's not too busy/ the journal is truly one of a kind. great job !
Glad to see you back. I have never tried that tape, but have often thought about it. I am now working on a book/album to capture my husband's career since he will be retiring soon. This has given me food for thought about what I might do for a sub-book within the album.
A beautiful idea!!! I will also say here that I did your scallop shell water color book and gave it to a friend. It was great fun. I have five more I want to make. Thank you for the book binding ideas!!! I enjoy watching your videos and tutorials. I appreciate you and your art.
Interesting! Never saw this binding method before. And never made a Journal without cardboard for the spine for reinforcement. 🙃 learning so many new things through your channel.
This is the video that hooked me so long ago on Sea Lemon. Sweet calm voice: "I do have a couple of skull related videos on my channel..."🤯 Thanks for all the great videos. Thanks to you every shoebox is a journal cover in waiting.
So I didn't have any book repair tape, but I tried an alternative and it seems to be working! Use heat n bond ultra hold, like you're making book cloth, but don't iron paper onto the back side. Iron it directly onto the front and back, and wrap around and iron it onto itself like the tape sticks to itself. It takes being careful and some creative iron usage to get it to look nice, but it seems to work for me so far!
your instructional videos are really great and easy to follow. I have recently started bookbinding as a hobby and have learned so much from your videos. Thank you for making this great content for people to learn and enjoy!
Bravo! Another great video. Thank you. You make everything look so easy ... which means that you must spend a lot of time planning camera angles and deciding what to film and what not to include. Thank you for making such high quality tutorials. I appreciate it.
Thank you for the tutorial! All the steps are crystal clear and you are doing an amazing job! I was just wondering if it is possible for a notebook to have more than one section using this technique.
This bookbinding method looks like it would also work to create hardcovers for paperback books that need some reviving. Just glue the old cover to the inside of the new cover. Thanks for all your videos, because of them I was able to create custom notebooks and sketchbooks for my friends and myself. I will have to try this technique in the near future.
I've done this using multiple stacks of signatures and lines of chain-stitching within a single cover making a fairly thick book that way. It looks nice when using a different color paper and matching thread per signature to make a rainbow effect. I was just thinking about you and your dad last night then saw this video listed today. I hope all is well.
Ok, love that book binding tape and the chain stitch binding is perfect for a stitcher like me! This was exhilarating to watch! Very inspiring, thank you so much. 💕
Made one today - thought it would be an idea to use mini-eyelets in the spine bookcloth to enhance a steampunk look. I wonder if some people might like charms or beads on some stitches? Thank you for uploading :)
I loved this stitch so much that after I received the products I ordered, that you recommended, I made two journals. Instead of gluing paper on the covers, I gessoed them and did some abstract kind of painting on them. Love how they turned out. Thank You for showing us this Mystic binding. :0)....would have shared a photo but couldn't figure out how. hehe
Hey Sea Lemon! I've recently gotten into bookbinding and your videos and I'm absolutely loving them. I was just wondering if it would be possible if you could do a video with European sized papers, or add in alternative sizes like using a4 paper? It's super hard for me to calculate my own sizes, but it's really difficult to get letter sized paper over here and importing from the US is getting quite expensive just for a hobby haha. Thank you so much for your videos!
I haven’t made a book yet, but I enjoy watching your videos. And glad to see you back at making them. I would love to see other ways of using the repair tape in book making. Is it fairly strong tape?
Thanks for this! One thing I am trying to figure out is how to do composition books ... this looks awesome and I will try to keep you updated on how I am doing.
Do you have a video that talks about pros and cons for each stitch method you've shown on your channel and the best stitch application for different uses?
I really love all your videos! Keep them coming, even if you use the same binding multiple times. It's great to see the different ways stitches can be used. What is the purple mat/paper?
have you ever thought about covering a book like a quilt style where you use all the little bits of paper you cut from other projects... like from the corners and trimming sides before you glue it? All of those random misshapen pieces of paper.. I think that could look interesting
Great tutorial! Clear instructions, I feel Confident that I could make one too. Can you answer a basic question for me? What tool do you use to cut your card board covers? Your edges are nice and clean. I’ve been buying my card board precut from my local book binding store but I’d like to try cutting my own. Thank you in advance!
What other tapes can I use if I don’t have book repair tape? Great video by the way! I can’t wait to try this. I have all the supplies except for the tape. I have duct tape, masking tape, washi tape and packing tape. Can I substitute any of those?
Would the covers look more finished if you glued the inside cover down then the outside paper over the inside so the inside is under the edges of the outside cover page?
I just made a notebook following your tutorial, it is amazing! The only problem I had is that I used 106 gsm paper and the same amount of pages, wich made my book a little bit thicher... and really hard to sew with my needle. I would like to see more tutorials using that tape!
I have never done bookbinding but you make me want to. Those books are so cute. I think if I did one, I'd want to add an elastic too. I don't think that would be too hard, would it?
I bought that paper at Michael's this morning😂❤❤❤❤and I was wondering what to make with them and your video notification came in. Its a sign of the craft Gods😍😍😍😍😍. THANK YOU
Lol, talk about a coincidence 😂

Your videos are informative and make sense, even to an 80-year-old bookbinding newbie. Thanks!!!

This is great! I am an embroiderer, so I love this idea! Yours are so pretty! Thanks for this video!

Made this with book cloth instead of the tape and it worked!
The journals look SO MAGICAL.
Can other tapes be substituted for book repair tape? Like, duck tape maybe?
I love your work, clean, simple and with style...greatings from Greece.
Bravo! Another great video. Thank you. You make everything look so easy ... which means that you must spend a lot of time planning camera angles and deciding what to film and what not to include. Thank you for making such high quality tutorials. I appreciate it.
I have done most of your binding videos and i think this will be easy for me to do. Thanks for the guide!!
I love your method. looks very professionally done. thank you for sharing.😎👍✌🙂
I was looking for something like this to finish the books I am making for my son's class. Thank you.
Awesome! I've wondered about how to make covers with smaller sheets of paper. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the tutorial! All the steps are crystal clear and you are doing an amazing job! I was just wondering if it is possible for a notebook to have more than one section using this technique.
Welcome back Jenn!!!
Can’t wait to try this binding style for myself
XOXOXOXOXO
It looks so pretty on the dark tape! Can't wait to try it. Thank you for sharing!

i realize I'm quite off topic but does anybody know a good place to watch new movies online ?
@Landry Ayaan flixportal :D
@Marcel Markus thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I appreciate it !
@Landry Ayaan you are welcome :)
What a beautiful and easy binding method! Please more of this, thank you for showing!
You are an amazing teacher, thank you.
These are very very cool. And I love how detailed you were. I may have to try this.
I just bought my first bookbinding kit yesterday! I'm so excited to make sketchbooks and traveler's Journal inserts!
Just awesome. Next book I make will utilize this method of binding. Thank you.🇨🇦❤️🙏✌️
So happy to see you on UA-cam! I'm gonna have to get my book making supplies out. After going to Michael's first!
Ok, love that book binding tape and the chain stitch binding is perfect for a stitcher like me! This was exhilarating to watch! Very inspiring, thank you so much. 💕
Awesome! You totally hooked me on bookbinding, and this is my favourite so far.
Omg I’m making a book and you are my savior
I LOVE YOUR CREATIVE ART Work THANKS! I think I will try to make one 4 my mom!
There is no such thing as a perfect youtuber-

She is defiantly a dazzling 💫 ❣️❣️

I’m new to your channel, and I just want to say that your videos are very nice and calming. Also you’re so pretty ❤️
I love everything about these books! I love skulls!
I really like the way you sewed in the signature. Never saw that before.
Great idea using the rings to organize your thread 🧵. I might use that for my embroidery floss 👍🏼👍🏼. Good to see you posting videos 📚
Oh God... bookmaking it's so relaxing!!
I've ALWAYS wanted to know how to make a book like this - Thank you so much ♡♡♡♡
Also the book you made is *S T U N N I N G* I adore it

I was hoping to find a new binding stitch and here it is. Thank you Jennifer...this is really pretty...hugs from Arizona...;)

Lovely beautifully done as per your usual
Excellent and congratulations on 1M subscribers!
Could you also do this with bookcloth instead of the book repair tape?
Hey so I just did make it with bookcloth. A little tricky to glue on the inside and keep it even but yeah it can be done and looks nice :)
I haven’t made a book yet, but I enjoy watching your videos. And glad to see you back at making them. I would love to see other ways of using the repair tape in book making. Is it fairly strong tape?
Yes it seems durable 👍
I would love to see more ways of making binding with the tape. If you have anymore ideas.
We have the same paper addiction lol😂
Thanks for this! One thing I am trying to figure out is how to do composition books ... this looks awesome and I will try to keep you updated on how I am doing.
I gotta love your DIYs. Your channel is like satisfying.
I missed your videos!
thank you for another lovely bookbinding method. gonna try it for later :)
Great idea! And it’s awesome to see your face again. 😊
I like this binding. I'm pretty sure you can add more signatures to it.
Do you have a video that talks about pros and cons for each stitch method you've shown on your channel and the best stitch application for different uses?
I was wondering what to make for christmas gifts--thanks for the inspiration!
I really love all your videos! Keep them coming, even if you use the same binding multiple times. It's great to see the different ways stitches can be used.
What is the purple mat/paper?
That would be perfect for junk journals as it'd be easier to attach a tassel, charm, etc to a loop or 2.
This is adorable! I have been resisting patterned paper... but after watching this I feel the *need* to swing by the craft store! 🥳
Nice technique and beautiful outcome!
Very nice. I love this stitch. Thanks for sharing, Jennifer.
Could you use this stitching method for multiple signatures? Would it be similar to long-stitch binding?
I'm going to try that. It's called a triple chain stitch for 3 signatures but you could add more as they link in the binding. Video coming soon 😉
i love this i just got into bookbinding so your videos are sooo helpful
have you ever thought about covering a book like a quilt style where you use all the little bits of paper you cut from other projects... like from the corners and trimming sides before you glue it? All of those random misshapen pieces of paper.. I think that could look interesting
Gorgeous, well done, so well explained as well, thank you and happy Halloween x
Ooh, those would work really well for a diy blackout journal!
That is a very clever idea! Thank you so much for sharing.
Such a cute idea! I wasn't able to find this paper today, but I'm sure I can find some paper online somewhere. Thanks for the inspiration. 🧟♀️👻💀
appeals to the embroider in me...think this might work well with altered books, revamping the covers...tfs
YEEEES I AM HYPED for a new bookbinding method ❤
Nice journals! Love that chainstitch look!
Can’t wait to get the scrapbooking paper 😍
do you think you could try and make a leather tome?
Great tutorial! Clear instructions, I feel
Confident that I could make one too. Can you answer a basic question for me? What tool do you use to cut your card board covers? Your edges are nice and clean. I’ve been buying my card board precut from my local book binding store but I’d like to try cutting my own. Thank you in advance!

Really cool books, and book binding!
What other tapes can I use if I don’t have book repair tape? Great video by the way! I can’t wait to try this. I have all the supplies except for the tape. I have duct tape, masking tape, washi tape and packing tape. Can I substitute any of those?
You can also glue paper in place of the tape!
Sea Lemon Sweet! Thanks for responding!
Love it!! Love that paper and I love the chain stitch!! 💖
I can’t wait to try this!!
Could you do it with more than one signature
What can we use instead of the binding repair tape ? Is there an alternative ? I'de love to know !
I used fabric and double sided tape. Found some cute fabric with cactus on it
Is it important to pierce the holes from the outside of the folded pages rather than the inside like when using a cradle? 🇨🇦❤️🙏✌️
Wonderful tutorial. Thank you much!
Would the covers look more finished if you glued the inside cover down then the outside paper over the inside so the inside is under the edges of the outside cover page?
I got some spooky paper in a subscription box last year and I never knew what to do with it. Guess what I'm attempting this week?
Love this. Thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day
Its is great good work. Thanks for a lot of various informations
I just made a notebook following your tutorial, it is amazing! The only problem I had is that I used 106 gsm paper and the same amount of pages, wich made my book a little bit thicher... and really hard to sew with my needle.
I would like to see more tutorials using that tape!
I love it!!! You have totally inspired me! I will tag you when I finish what I've got in mind...
Perfect for Halloween!❤️
I have never done bookbinding but you make me want to. Those books are so cute. I think if I did one, I'd want to add an elastic too. I don't think that would be too hard, would it?
Oh dear. Now I have to make a trip to Michael's.
Love this! Cant wait to try it
This seems like an easy book to make. Mahalogozaimasu!
