Hey! I came across this on accident during class. I didn't even realize what I was watching until he got in to the details. Mom never told what the other pilot's name was or that she knew him.
Was at det 6 621st TCS just south of NKP at that time. Probably knew of this at the time. Good to hear from these good men. So very sorry about their friends.
Interesting story. I was stationed with the 56th SOW from April 1968 to May 1969. If I had been there several months earlier, probably would have debriefed Mr. McCleskey. The A26 was one of my favorite war birds from this era.
1rst person story in telling, so much detail, having read some books on these topics, and having to conduct tasks according to terms of deniability. These men in the air, supporting eyes on the ground or following up on Intel, gave as much hurt on enemy logistics up& down Laos/ Cambodia that would not be admitted by Either side at the time Not to mention support of troops in border areas RVN. Read a few excerpts from Anderholt in SOF mag, and these men were in his commanded. Thanks for telling. Great detail. The End is a Trust in Faith. And your Friends in flux.....💭😇
Thank you for posting this story. There is defo not enough on the Counter Invaders and the amazing crews that flew them!
you are right, and I am trying to correct that! There are MANY Nimrod videos on my channel. Please watch and share them with your friends!
As I recall NKP was referred to as "Naked Fanny"! I flew into NKP in 66-67 in C-130E out of CCK.
That is true. Some of the Nimrod still call it that
