      Both sides of the border eh? What an ignorant comment to make. It is the "Irish army ranger wing", NOT to be confused with the Royal Irish Rangers, who are Brits. The clue is in the title, Óglaigh na hÉireann / Irish Defence Forces. There was obviously a typo in the description. www.joe.ie/news/video-irish-snipers-become-the-first-non-usa-team-to-win-the-international-sniper-competition-517022#:~:text=The%20Army%20Ranger%20Wing%20won,after%20winning%20the%20prestigious%20event.

    Irish ARW wear the camouflage multicam pattern ?

    • @sneekygreenman
      @sneekygreenman 7 років тому +3

      No, there were some euro-SOF wearing multicam in that but I think you're referrign to the UK troops in MTP? The Irish forces only employ IDPM (similar to CCE) and IDDPM (Not 100% on that one) and a black VBSS suit for ARW.

      The US competitor firing the MK13 appears to be a member of the Naval Special Warfare command (SEAL's), can't tell if he's NSW or DEVGRU as I'm not too knowledgeable on kit past 2012. The uniform is AOR2, the greenside variation of AOR1, his blouse is made by Patagonia I think (its /not/ a crye NC shirt). He's the only shooter that stood out as obviously american.

    I wonder how often the Irish Defence Forces get deployed to the UK for training?

    • @jamescarroll8319
      @jamescarroll8319 3 роки тому +2

      They send individuals to do course at Brecon and the likes of the Royal School of Artillery. They even sent a cadet platoon the last year to RMAS to do a competition. In regards to actively working together Cyprus it would have been difficult not to come across each other and now days Mali would have soldiers from both nations there. But at the end of the day they do very different missions for obvious reasons. But when they are together my experience is they get on very well.

      @@hanshanson9932 Who is this IDF you keep talking about. There is PDF and RDF. Yes there is quite a lot of training between the Irish and British. You should know British troops come over to Ireland to train under the Irish in lots of different courses. Just off the top of my head Counter IED, Civilian and military relations, and POC. But do know there's much more. Hope this reply helped. Stay safe during current pandemic.

    • @garethrice6195

      @@hanshanson9932 It is conducted down in the curragh camp with the ordnance corp based there. It is an international course under Irish instruction on which British military personnel are students. Unfortunately from past troubles in our country, counter IED is something PDF are excellent at. I have no doubt your friend in EOD will at some stage come over for training after the pandemic. The British and Irish military have an excellent relationship and troops travelling and training on courses in both countries. I hope this helps Hans

    • @garethrice6195
      @garethrice6195 3 роки тому

      @@hanshanson9932 Hans it's counter IED for infantry soldiers. I'd imagine British EOD teams are trained in their own countries like the Irish. As I said off the top of my head Counter IED, Civilian military relations, and protection of Civilian courses British soldiers are students on. I'm sure there's more. Irish go and train with British in battle sgts courses. Again that's just to name a few. Again the Irish Defence forces, and British military have quite a good relationship. I know you said you're an ex-soldier and not sure how long you're out. But these days there is plenty of training over and back

    • @garethrice6195
      @garethrice6195 3 роки тому

      @@hanshanson9932 correct there. They don't come in regiments. The 3 courses I named are international. So usually you have 3 or 4 from different countries. For example you'll have some Irish, British, Nigerian, Canadian, Argentinan, American. The point is British soldiers do come over and train in ireland. Likewise Ireland doesn't send large numbers over to Britain but it does happen. That was my initial point. I've seen your comments on other videos and not sure if it's the Irish defence forces you have a problem with or the Irish themselves. Each to their own. And as an Irish man I've no problem with that. I see you served in the North and wonder does it stem from that. I respect any person who has served. Again keep yourself and family safe during the pandemic. Nice chatting.
