Thanks for the detailed review, this is great! What an epic set... unfortunately the price is just far too epic for me at the moment, may have to wait until Toyco has it on a 20% off sale (although I won't be holding my breath as it probably won't be any time soon!). The little outbuildings are cool, looks like you could probably use the template to mod / MOC a few more (are there any tan bricks left on NZ's BrickLink stores though? I seem to remember someone buying up vast numbers for a massive Tatooine build a couple of years ago lol). Those little boxes with the Imperial insignia on them look pretty cool (the Aurebesh printing on them says CARGO - I love the fact that LEGO actually put the time and effort into getting this kind of stuff right!). I hate those Stormtrooper helmets though, I know they're the current version but for an epic Master Builder display set you want it to look good and those helmets are just too cartoonish. Fair enough if you're doing a Star Wars: Rebels set but not for something as iconic as this. Very poor form. Looks like it has a fairly sizeable footprint, hope you can find room for it!!
Hey Karl, Thank you for the support mate, really appreciate that you always take the time write a great comment.. agreed, price is very high - I know Toyco will be getting this early next year so not too long to wait! I'm ok with the Stormtrooper helmets but agree that they do look a bit cartoonish, I personally think the last version we got was better. Definitely a big set and its going to be a hard one to display - much like Cloud City!
Nice review! For me, this is a set I probably wouldn't buy. It's not that it doesn't look really cool(it does), it's just that I have limited space for Lego displaying and this just wouldn't fit the space I have. Plus, it's very expensive. But your review was a nice way for me to experience it vicariously and I enjoyed how thorough you were in your breakdown of everything. Keep making reviews! I'll keep watching them! :)

Awesome review man, can't wait to pick this up and compare it to the likes of iScreamClones version he did (avaliable on rebrickable) The outbuildings having interiors is really cool too. Bit of a shame some of the prints weren't updated and made exclusive to the set but if it helped keep the price down then can see why.

$350+ star wars sets should have almost all Minifigures with at least new designs or printed arms, having so many repeat minifigures should be unacceptable as it takes away the exclusivity. The Mos Eisley Cantina build is fantastic, overall the set is a 7/10 for me.
I agree with regards to the minfigs, would have been good to get some updates, in particular the Bith Musicians

It's a nice set and I was going to get it but the more I looked at it, the less I liked it. Really it's just a bunch of boring booths that you stick the minifigures in. Not really much playability. No floor around the bar so the figures have nothing to stand on. The Jawa shop is unnecessary and there's not much going on in the interior. The main reason to buy this set is the new minifigures but for the $350 price tag, that's a hefty price to pay for them. I've noticed most people that have reviewed this set have said that they like it but I can detect a bit of disappointment in their face. I think I would have had a bit of buyer's remorse if I had bought this set. It's decent but somehow I feel it's lacking in fun gimmicks or action type features.
I hear you, definitely a hefty price tag.. although I must say I enjoyed the build more than I thought I would, and it definitely took a lot longer than I thought it would too - so yes, highly priced, but personally I feel that it wasn't too bad - about the same as Cloud City value wise.

I hear you, I didn't think much from the promotional pictures but must say that it is definitely quite a big build - not sure about the high end of the price tag but well worth it if you ever see it on a 15-20% discount
BrickScene i waited for this set since the rumors and after seeing official LEGO photos decided to get the hogwarts castle with 6,000 pieces. I know it only had 4 Minifigs but I don’t have any of them and next to the 7 new ones in the cantina I have the other 14 or 15...most several times over. When I saw it I thought it was designed more towards new LEGO fans and die hards...don’t get me wrong I love me some LEGO Star Wars but unless I can get it for under $300 I don’t think I’ll own it unless I win a lotto or something
