  • From the moment the album kicks off with "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due," I was hooked. The speed, the fury, the thrash-- everything about Megadeth was turning my love of metal up to eleven. Let's go back to 1990 when one of the best possible line-ups of this band dropped a metal masterpiece, securing it as one of my all-time favorites of the genre.

Agreed. Every second of this record is pure gold. A complete masterpiece.

On our annual family shopping trip to "The States" from our home of Canada, I brought my walkman. The very 1st store we came to I purchased the brand new tape... Guns N Roses 'Appetite for Destruction'. The _entire_ 15 hour trip home, I listened to that album ONLY, on repeat. Right up until motor burnt out on my Sony Walkman! Begged my Dad (fellow hardcore music fan) to please buy me a new one, they did an off brand piece of BS that died _at_ the border! Well, it took 3 portable brands of tape players but, in the end... That was the year I started school knowing EVERY word to that brand new album. Grade 5 was _so good!_ 😂😂😂

such a cool story about you and your brother. me and my brother where with our mom at the navy exchange which had a small record store in it. just recently I saw the movie Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park then flipping through the records I found KISS Dressed to Kill we asked our mom if we could get it and of course it was a no. so when we took it back we put our money together and bought and somehow got it to the car and in the house without her knowing. was about 10 or 12 im 52 now and still have that record. but this album Rust in Peace. changed fukn everything,. best line up ever.

This was the best thing I've seen on youtube in awhile. A real trip down metal memory lane. This episode is basically me talking to my wife at dinner, haha. Your Dave impressions literally had me laughing out loud. I saw Megadeth live in 1998. Marty walked out with a Star Trek insignia (basically, a V) guitar and you could collectively hear a gasp from all the guitar AND Star Trek geeks in the crowd (I was both).

Legend has it that it wasn't Slash's guitar pick that Marty used on "Five Magics", but rather the Pick of Destiny 😉
Figured this was a good place to drop that reference, LOL! Loved this vid, dude. Your stuff has been recommended to me constantly through Facebook reels, and so I came here to see more of your content, and I had to watch this specific episode because I love "Rust in Peace". Been ages since I last heard it, but your review definitely has made me want to revisit it. We have the same favorite track in "Tornado of Souls". Man, what a song!
You've definitely got a new subscriber here, and I look forward to watching more of these episodes. Cheers!

I remember hiding tapes. I had a GWAR vhs tape hid in my closet.

Children do NOT think or have the life experiences to understand 75% of the lyrics. They just like the music itself & the hype around the bands. If a kid can read the Bible they can handle _any_ music lyric!

The tape of this album started it all for me too! 100% agree the remaster isn’t good

Dude, any time you want to talk about 90s music, I'm down.
