I'm glad you got Jack on the show again! His movies were my childhood. He is such a great guest😀
It's sad that he doesn't have that long left now, everyone I love and watched when I was young is so old and dying, hopefully jack stays longer than them all
Team-Tophat he isnt even 50 yet wtf are you talking about
3:16 "YOU WERE EXPECTING A METAL BAND, BUT IT WAS ME! DIO!!!"
"Much more cerebral." That joke went right over their heads.
Nah,.. just a no-brainer haha
Please have Jack on this show more, he blends in so well with you guys. c:
I think THOR seems more metal than HULK
Thor is just a grownup Heman. Hulk SMASH!!!
Of course, Immigrant Song bro 💪🤘
I'd argue that Iron Man is more metal :P
@@drolzak7 lol.
Batman is very darker
You can check batmetal video to know what im saying XD
You're missing that mayhem album where the cover is literally a photo of their lead singers suicide.
Easily the most metal album cover.
Alice Edwards Dawn of the Black Hearts. And yes I agree with you.
that would get them demonetized in an instant.
What about Pissgrave's Suicide Euphoria, where the cover is a picture of a liquified corpse, bones and all?
It's not even just the suicide. It's the whole story that led up to that. That's pretty much as pure of metal as it gets. Not a huge black metal guy but I do have respect.
reign in blood by slayer has a pretty metal cover
John Ross Indeed
Umm Repentless.
So is south of heaven
John Ross painkiller? Ehats more metal than a robot angel knight riding a dragon motorcycle with saws for wheels and that thing (painkiller) riding over a post-apocalyptic city?
Gummi wummi and South of heaven
Amon Amarth are a really badass viking metal band! They are insanely badass live! What other band travels with their own Viking ship??
They're melodic death metal, viking metal came from black metal
@@RedEyesTops blah blah blah. You can say that all you want. Their lyrics are always about vikings, they have a viking ship on stage, they drink from viking style horns. Come on man, if it quacks, walks, and looks like a duck..
@@ddevil4980 it can still be a goose. Because they don't sound like viking metal
They have Vikings sword fight on stage too
@@ddevil4980 Wrong. I'm not about to call Nile Egyptian metal just because they have heavy Egyptian influences and lyrics.
It's technical death metal hands down
Painkiller...I mean come on it's a world on fire, a metal god riding a dragon motorcycle with saw blades for wheels and the Judas priest logo in the center...come on
Yea I was expecting it.
That was the first one that came to my mind too! \m/
Haven't watched the video yet but knowing jack black I know he probably chooses Holy Diver because Dio is his hero.
Hell yeah
xPROTOTYPE2017x I was right with you on that.
The "devil figure" on the Dio cover is called Murray.
You are correct sir....
Fangalatic I think its a cool name myself, certainly alot better than Eddie (Iron Maiden).
"Hi. I'm a demon and my name is Murray."
callum mclachlan He is not a demon at all.
Murray is not an intimidating name. I can’t not think of Murr from impractical jokers.
Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? by MEGADETH
I liked Rust in peace.
great album, the covers cool but not metal enough lmao
It's pink.
@@witchychlo Calm down Mr. Hard core. Really? Megadeth. Not "metal" enough? Okay.
Also they looked at Holy Diver by Dio, Megadeth is heaver than Dio.
Asher Wood lmao, the album is definitely more metal, the cover is also very metal but Dio’s cover is more metal IMO
Why would they pick Surter Rising when Twilight Of The Thunder God is obviously a much more metal album cover?
I feel like just knowing a little Norse mythology makes the cover more badass. I like the Thor and Jormungandr battle on the cover of TOTTG but Surtur is the fire giant that kills gods and destroys all of the worlds during Ragnarok which is as metal as it gets lol
@@InTheChaos1 you make a very good point lol but I'm talking strictly cover art with no backstory. Which, given that none of them know Amon Amarth or Norse mythology, makes it more important to pick their most blatantly metal album cover. I'm still just shocked that Jack hasn't even heard of Amon Amarth. I could see him not listening to them, but not even having heard of them is nuts
Cause liberal soyboys don't have a clue about metal.
yeehawfreesekz because they have no clue what they’re talking about
@@yeehawfreesekz true that. Muscles, giant monster and lightning is pretty epic lol
Surtur is the flaming demon monster from the beginning of Thor Ragnarok btw!!!
And he's inspired by his namesake from norse/nordic mythology
He is a Giant
Also known as Surtur, the giant fire man from Musphelheim in Norse mythology
And is in GoW 4
i hope they are just faking it
Judas Priest - Pain Killer.
Basically any Judas Priest cover is metal af.
Truth
Agreed.
Firepower
ancestralworm oof yeeees 🤘
_It's very Frazetta._
Meanwhile, the album cover for Beatin' the Odds is painted *by* Frazetta.
I need to have a word with whoever didn't choose to include Judas priest's painkiller album
joseph novak indeed
joseph novak I also feel like Iron Maiden’s Somewhere in Time should’ve been included
For obvious reasons they didn't get into black/death metal albums like Darkthrone, Bathory, Morbid Angel. It's still cool they discussed something like this.
Amon Amarth is melodeath
I'm guessing the obvious reason is because none of them have very metal album covers?
@@dallanjr3610 no the obvious reason is that they're graphic
👻
Dawn of the Black Hearts
GMM + Jack Black... the best! You should have him like... once a month!
Clicked on here because I saw Amon Amarth. I'm deeply saddened by everything, lol.
Amon Amarth are one of the greats from Sweden, where various subgenres of death metal are practically mainstream.
Haha calling it mainstream is a bit much
im swedish its definitely NOT mainstream, never heard of it. and almost no one that listens to metal listens to modern metal
@@Evilovedoctor You know nothing
@@oskar356 As far as metal goes, Amon Amarth is definitely mainstream. I think people attach a negative connotation to that word, but it really just means they've been enormously successful and are one of the most well-known names in the genre.
Edit: I'm realizing you were referring to the genre of metal, not Amon Amarth
@@leftistnazi1053 i know nothing? Please tell people in my country that amon amarth are mainstream and that they have heard about it and see how they react
I'm actually almost offended they didn't know Amon Amarth, or that Sutr is basically the Norse version of the 4 horsemen.
But links comment, "I'm not scarred, I'm just aroused" sums up how I feel about metal in general.
@@christofferuden7680
*surtr*
@@christofferuden7680 to be fair ive seen the norse call him surt
@@christofferuden7680 i know dude
@@christofferuden7680 that just because its on an album cover doesnt mean thats the only way to say it
Surt is the basic form of the word. Surtr is casus nomitativ/nominatif (??? Idk how you call it in english ;D it is the subject of a sentence)
The lack of Vulgar Display of Power saddens me. What is possibly more metal than a dude getting punched in the face?!?!
The fire giant Surtur bringing about the Viking apocolypse. 🤷♂️
The original far Beyond driven one is more metal.
Yea the original Far Beyond album where a guy was getting a metal drill shoved up his ass is pretty metal.
A guy getting punched could easily just be punk too.
@@jacobstory1311 it definitely is!
Lack of knowledge about Surtur AFTER Ragnarok released (and brought that part of mythology to normies) is baffling.
F P shut up
It's Surtr, the fire giant from Norse mythology. He will lead the sons of Múspell to Ragnarök and defeat Freyr. I'd say that's pretty damn metal.
Jack Black schooling my guys on metal. That was the most metal thing I've seen today. So far.
♥♥♥
School of Rock much?
Preach
The Manowar cover is "very Frazetta" because the artist, Ken Kelly, is the nephew of Frank Frazetta's wife. He was able to study Frazetta's work very closely on a regular basis, and it was a big influence on his own art career. It's funny Jack says it's "very Conan" as well...Because Ken Kelly is actually known for (among other things) his depictions of Conan the Barbarian.
thanks for sharing your insights, Shane
Thanks for the info
Bolt Thrower - War Master.
Where is slayer
slayer and cannibal corpse
honestly though
Can't show that on UA-cam
Or disturbed or sabaton
Too vulgar
Motorhead Ace of Spades. No fantasy artwork required when you have those three dudes.
Amon Amarth!
I'm saddened a little that Jack's never heard of them. SMH
One of the best bands to see live! What other bands travel with a Viking ship?
"It's very Frazetta."
Next album is Molly Hatchet's... literally a Frazetta.
Black Sabbath - Dehumanizer.
i love that cover
I wish they made a poster of it.
pfft...Everyone knows Paranoid is Sabbath's most metal cover ;)
@@RP_Williams I think you're the only one.
+MrShadowofthewind lol What are you talking about? It's not as though that cover is more goofy and funny than it is epic and metal...what's more epic than some guy wearing one of those dorky motorcycle helmets?
Jack, how'd you seem to miss that the Molly Hatchet had an ACTUAL Frazzetta painting for the cover. Tsk tsk tsk...
Finally a video about something i dont think is dumb on the trending page
when i first watched this, it was fun and i didn't read too much into it. then after years of watching Rhett and Link by watching GMM and listening to Ear Biscuits..
Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion
This is the clear winner.
Morbid Tales, certainly a good metal cover too from CF
Too satanic for American mainstream media :D
That's a great one! H.R. Giger!
Not really. HR did the art for the alien movies.
Jack Black talking about metal booklet artwork with two just babbling hipsters - not knowing who Amon Amarth is. I am equaly disappointed, confused, embarrassed and shocked! Lost my faith!
Shai Hulud same I though Jack was way more of a metalhead than the well known 80s and 90s stuff. Like he would've known known Amon Amarth and that bands still do the badass 80s style artwork like battle beast
I miss his energy and enthusiasm. At times I think he's making just fun of it (metal) - which wouldn't be too bad, 'cause most great bands take themselfs not too serious, but back in the day he seemed somewhat "into" it. Misspronouncing Sutur like suture is somewhat ..eh, I don't know,...
Yeah theyre the greatest metal band ever....
You would also miss a few metal bands while working and making millions instead. 2011, is quite new for JAck's age.
Shai Hulud You're quite a sensitive one aren't you. It's amazing how easy it is for people to lose perspective on the internet. Jack actually isn't an expert on this stuff (I don't think he ever was imo). If you can't survive this without a minor crisis I think you should stay indoors and avoid passing on your genes
Surtur is from Norse mythology. He is a fire giant
There's actually a lot of metalheads that watch GMM, that's awesome.
DeathMetalPrincess true and I’m one of them
