The M311 Spelter is fantastic, survival, hard-use, belt knife ( with a Tactical flavour) Outstanding handle ergos for the bigger hand and in a great Price Range of thoughtfully chosen Steels. The main reason for this 5 Star rating is for the company, Acta Non Verba... after purchasing the Sleipner version, I wasn't happy with the heavily stone-washed example I had received (soft grind lines and a shallower choil than in previous versions). Not only were they a pleasure to deal with, It arrived just before Christmas, but was delayed by Postal Strikes and I was not notified, the shipment then automatically returned to the Czech Republic!? ANV kindly returned it (again) making sure no Duty was needed, as I found that UK Custom tried to charge over £90 the first failed attempt! After I had sent a note with the knife, about how much I liked the design and the availability of a 'budget' version, as the premium version was just too much for me, ...ANV sent back an Elmax version!! Got it, love it.... and ANV have a Fan for Life!! I cannot Thank ANV enough, they are a credit to the Bladesmithing Industry!!
Spelther looks like a great shaped knife. The handle, even though it’s ergonomic looks too thick and bulky in the palm and butt-end area. The compact version handle looks more nimble! Needs a Tec-Loc.
Absolutely love the M311!!! I found a great deal through Lamnia and they even gave me an additional military discount simply because I asked-cool folks! I went with the no choil option. Solid tool, super comfortable, and exceptional steel!
That's definitely an amazing knife. Like someone said below, I was previously looking for a Spartan Blades Difensa, but I'm now looking after this knife, after seeing it is more ergonomic, has a slightly shorter blade length, and seems to probably be an overall higher quality steel. The Topo and Camo designs both look great. Camo and all-Black both look like I'd wanna give it a beating. Topo looks almost too nice and I'd prob not want to abuse it very much.
Just went to Blade HQ right now and nabbed one. I was gonna wait for the Spartan Blades Harsey Difensa to get back in stock or buy it on ebay. Nope, just looking at this guy....take my money. Thanks for posting this! I would have never of known about this brand.
Not too small not too large & weighs less than 16oz with the sheath, sounds like my type of knife. I'm just not sure if Elmax & N690 are suitable for fixed blade combat knives this size.
Bark River is in trouble. Acta Non Verba is bringing better finish, equal performance, and a much more sorted out sheath to the market for the same price for a knife of that size in that steel. A truly impressive offering.
Does anybody own both a Survive GSO 5.1 or 4.7 and theTRC knives Mille Cuori? Which one is the best overall knife? How does the TRC Mille Cuori compare to a similar GSO? The M311 looks good, but I don't think it can come close to what I'm searching for and that's nothing less, than the BEST. Thanks in advance
I cannot find the write up mentioned relating to the steel tests mentioned in the video where elmax was found to have the better edge retention ? . Please will you publish the link in the video title.
I'm curious, with price a factor. Would you choose this in elmax ? A SOG Pillar or a Harsey Difensa ? The M311 is available in bohler n690 at quite a reduced price (thinking mans choice ?)
All the knives would do the same thing, however, the m311 blade retention will beat both,i own the sog pillar, awesome knife, wont own a spartan, its overpriced, this knife looks sexy, but too small blade for me,so iam sticking to me sog pillar
I think they ditched fixed and went folding--- really don't see why, they make tiny fixed blades now, folding knives are just personal preference. Albeit a fair bit weaker
The specs on Blade HQ list the blade length at 4.75, which is significantly smaller than the Spartan Blades in the over $400 price category. However, I like the looks and features of knife as you described. I have recently purchased the FOBOS Tier 1C, which is in the same category of combat utility blades for a similar price point. The FOBOS Tier 1C has a .25" thick 6.5" blade made of 3V steel with similar ergonomics and handle features. Elmax is certainly a premium stainless steel I'm just not sure I would take it over a tool steel for a combat utility knife. That said, great review! My curiosity in this knife company is certainly piqued.
Hey this is a great review as always. I would love to get this knife. You have definitely convinced me to get one. I was wondering if you could please do a review of the new m311 compact. I would really like to know which one would make a better edc knife. Thanks for always doing excellent reviews and really good content to watch.
I will be reviewing the compact version soon. I can tell you the handle is nowhere near as comfortable as on the full size if I was to choose between the two, I would definitely go with the full size.
Thank you for your time and help with this. I really appreciate. I will definitely be looking for the review and I will make a decision then. I appreciate your advice. You definitely have a lot more expertise in this area. I hope you have a great day and stay safe.
Yep, I was right! Another great review! Great job Aaron. Looks like it did perform as good as it looks. To bad you couldn't get your hands on the m390 blade. I do like me some stonewash. Looks to be a perfect companion (edc) blade for someone who can carry a fixed blade everyday!
Looks like a mix of a Bill Harsey and Extrema Ratio Knife I want to see how it looks under the handlescales, why people never show everything of the knife?
Thank you for a great review of a knife I recently discovered and am very interested in. I was wondering if you have a chance could you possibly do a review of the Abraham and Moses Goodman knife. I would love to see a review of that knife.
Probably a fair price for that big chunk of Elmax, nice sheath and handle scales. And the high workmanship. The problem I have is that I’m not willing to shell out that kind of coin for a tactical knife. I’d pay that much for a nice LT Wright, Jacklore, or even a Bark River, but that would be a knife I’d use in the woods, and not tactical/fighting knife where I could “make it work” for bushcraft. And as for a survival knife? Sure as heck don’t need Elmax or that price tag for a survival knife. SRK or Strongarm would do the job all day.
Yes, it is overpriced. In this dimensions of price, you can buy handcrafted knife made of the same materials here in Czech Republic. (ANV is Czech company)
For people saying that they shouldn't charge 300 or 400$ for a knife, I have to remind them, that it's exactly the same as saying that they shouldn't charge that much for a Ferrari or a Cadillac. So, before saying that again, do yourself a favor and remember, that quality costs more. I said the same when I only owned Mora knives, then I got a handforged and a TRC and I never looked back to Moras again. They now look like junk to me, no matter how good or not they are. You can't drive a Mercedes for a day and then go back to a 200$ car and call it "great" you just can't. Same goes for any kind of tools or gear in our lives...
Suckers like you ruin it for the rest of us. Most knives have, what, 3 parts? The blade, both sides of the handle, and some screws. There is no comparison. But that's besides the fact: why assume the people you are trying to refute would not say the same thing about Ferrari? Such specious logic. Such a shill. Such a lack of respect for your own labor. Pitiful.
hi gideon. If you want a change in your collection, I recommend a brand really suited to wildlife, it's kizlyar supreme. A Russian brand with a quality worthy of TOPS KNIVES. I hope you will like it. Have a good day.
I was gonna say it looks like some kind of bastardized Chris Reeve handle with a SOG blade and a Van Halen paint job.. The I noticed "ELMAX" on the blade.. so damn, another blade to buy. Elmax is by faaaar my favorite blade steel, regardless of style/type.
And I think taking DLC of could damage knife itself and their DLC is awesome, I don't see any reason why you could do that... It's not teflon or any of cheap coating, ANV has version in Böhler N690 without coating If you want
It’s a beautiful knife with great ergos, but it costs too much. I can live happily with something made of 1095, or D2 like my BK7. Knives have become the new over exploited real estate market.
It is expensive, here I agree, but why you take politics ("Review American products...") into the knife world, we can talk about steels, materials etc., and don´t care about something else. To be objective and to have general knowledge (here, about the knives), that is, what is it going on... FM

i guess I am kind of randomly asking but does anybody know a good website to stream new movies online?
@Tyson Neil Flixportal xD
@Dustin Edward Thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it!
@Tyson Neil happy to help :D
This knife review video is probably the best I‘be ever seen.
Wow! Thanks so much
@@gideonstactical Beautiful shots, nice commentary with your face and knife in hand, and using the knife properly 🤙🏾
Just pulled-the-trigger on a Stonewashed Sleipner model in Black Micarta... Love my Lionsteels and Cannot wait to feel that handle in use!

Very nice, small, all around Combat-, Survival-, Outdoor-, Tactical-Blade. I have to get one.

Elmax
If this connects with you you really need to try the Chris Reeves Pacific. My reaction to the Pacific was the same as your reaction to this blade.
I think they ditched fixed and went folding--- really don't see why, they make tiny fixed blades now, folding knives are just personal preference. Albeit a fair bit weaker
I would love a 6.5 inch version of this.I would also love the price to drop(maybe I am wishfully thinking!).
This has been my edc for a year
How does this compare to the SOG pillar?
It looks like a SOG and KabarJarosz had a baby.
I'm glad they didn't use birth control then! Haha
Yeah really!! But to me it looks like a Chris Reeve pacific also had a part in it. Maybe they had a threesome...??😉😉🤣🤣🤣

Ya the total blade length is 5” the cutting edge is 4.75”.
it's all about that Thick Handle and the Elmax combo.. and in the UK/Czech, the History behind its name!
No way for that price.
How does that knife do with a feral rod? I can't tell if it has a sharp 90° spine or not.

@@gideonstactical your right! Thanks.
M390 is chippy at 62HRC, maybe 58 to 60 HRC is better but then I would rather get V3

Can't beat the ergos of this knife. For me, when it comes to combat utility knife perfection, this knife is as close as you can get
It looks great and i know Elmax is a great steel.
ANV obviously like Spartan Blades, besides a few changes on the blade shape its almost exactly like a Difensa.
Designer of all ANV knives personnally knows founders of spartan blades, he is probably inspired by them and have simmilar philosophy in design
Cool looking knife. That topo blade version looked amazing.
Yes, it is overpriced. In this dimensions of price, you can buy handcrafted knife made of the same materials here in Czech Republic. (ANV is Czech company)
Exactly what I said to another this knife video, agree. FM
If I hadn’t just yesterday ordered a Spartan Horkos, I would give this ANV a very hard look! Guess I need to increase my monthly knife allowance? 🤪
Its A Good Looking Blade 😎

Way to expensive considering the other available options at and under the price and what you can get for that money!
Agree.. I just bought a 30-06 Mossberg for 330.00 with a decent scope
Elmax better than M390, don't think so. The camo pattern on the blade is a definitive Extrema Ratio copy.
